Coulter jabs Obama at CPAC

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.
Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

(CNN) - Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter’s 15-minute address at CPAC played more like a stand-up comedy act than a political speech.

Coulter delivered line after line of jabs at President Obama, the Democratic Party and the media – each met with roaring laughter from the crowd.

The commentator – who is no stranger to controversy – first went after MSNBC, calling the hosts the “alternative prom crowd.”

Pointing to recent comparisons of Obama to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, Coulter said the media has turned from being the people’s watchdog to the “government guard dog.”

“Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see Lincoln text messaging with Scarlet Johansson … and I forget, how many times did Lincoln vote present?” she said, to much applause.

Coulter likened members of the media and Democrats to parents “gushing” over a newborn baby.

“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said.

She said it was interesting that Obama’s “adorers” in the media compare him to Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, because, “apparently they can’t think of a Democratic president worthy of being compared to.”

“If [Obama] thinks people wanted change in 2009, wait until 2012,” she said.

Coulter has a long history of making controversial comments about politicians. Following her appearance at the 2007 CPAC, multiple companies asked to pull their ads from her Web site after she used what some observers called an anti-gay slur to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

She was also at odds with Sen. John McCain during the campaign season, saying "John McCain is not only bad for Republicanism, which he definitely is - he is bad for the country."

I'm sure this comment will not get through the CNN moderators ... they never do ... but here goes.
Yes, Ann Coulter is a blowhard who says many stupid and hateful things. Rush is in it for the ratings, he's an entertainer.
But ... how are they any different than liberal commentators like Rachael Maddow and Keith Olbermann? Both of those twits behave exactly like Coulter and Limbaugh, only from the other side of the aisle.

In response to comments like this one from Superferret and others: "They are witnessing a ground swell of conservative opposition to the odious state of affairs in Washington."

I love how you conservatives act like you're rebelling against the status quo. The current government has just begun. The "odious state of affairs in Washington" has resulted from 8 years of rule by an idiot figurehead who was controlled by a bunch of selfish, greedy politicians, lobbyists and businessmen. Wake up. The people in power now are trying to change things. Why don't you get your head out of the sand, open your eyes, and help fix things?

Ann's words and heart are empty. She is neither a Christian nor a conservative. She and the GOP merely have a co-dependent relationship.

Just a couple of words for Ann Coulter: Chain smoking, skank loud mouth!

You Democrats are all up in arms about this...

...but did you listen to what Coulter had to say? And for the few of you who did, are you actually claiming that any of it is false?

If the Republican party was lying about this stuff, they would have had lawsuits filed against them by now. But guess what? FOX news is still on the air... makes you think, doesn't it? (And don't give me any of that "the Democrats are too good to file lawsuits" crap, because you're full of it if you think that.)

So Dems, go turn on the liberal stations and watch shows like SNL... because as good as you are at dishing it out, you're equally as bad at taking it.

Wow! How soon we forget and attempt to rewrite history.

Gore won the popular vote in 200 (Gore 48.3 vs Bush 47.9), an inconvenient truth. To say Obama win is "mediocre" is a lie.

If Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter have become the voice of the GOP, the party is n deep trouble. Are they saying we can't go any lower? Keep it up for more wins for the DEMs in 2012.

Ann Coulter is not funny and never could be but reading about her makes me smile. Wacked with a dumb stick she must be on the same pills as Rush. And I thought Nancy was bad for the dems, they are even worse for the Reps. Recently I had a rep friend that was trying to think of names for his dog and one of the names he came up with was ann coulter...He wanted to be able to say.."don't s#$% on the carpet ann coulter...bad dog."

She's just another hated-filled narcissist. Apparently they are drawn out of all proportion to the Republican party.

    HEY!
    Watch the Blonde Bimbo cracks!

Coulter's jokes are simply not funny. If someone can take a relevant political jab on a policy or ideology they disagree with, that is fair game.
But referring to the President as B. Hussein Obama throughout her book is just a cheap shot, and very offensive.
The name Hussein wouldnt mean a thing to her if she couldn't link it to the former dictator of Iraq.
People like Coulter and Limbaugh will not get the party anywhere.

Thank God for Ann and Rush. If it wasn't for them we would hear only one side of the story media, much like Russia. It is so obvious to me how biased the public media has become. Such a croud following mentality. Interesting that Fox news has such a large following. After reading Ann Coulter's book and both of O'Bama's, O'Bama's frightened me much more than Ann's.

This is fun to watch. A bunch of sore losers bashing the winners and patting each others on the back. Losers can always count on each other for support.

The republican party won't exist in 50 years? You idiots do realize that most smart people who go to college and work hard for a living become conservatives, right? No one wants to pay for your health care or your meals you idiots.

Superferret....so, a convention filled with hate and hostility is surprised to see it reflect back on them?
When was the last time Ann or Rush said anything not filled with hate and bitterness??

    Ann Coulter,

I don't blame Obama. I mean, look at Scarlett Johansson. Conservatives might be more fired up about you, but the rest of us have better taste.

Too bad the conservatives didn't notice how soundly their ideas were rejected in November. But it is good to see them rallying to their cause because if they regain control of the GOP, the party will continue to be an opposition party with bankrupt ideas that have been demonstrated not to work.

And this is how the Republican's plan to find their way out of the wilderness.

Obama should unpack and get comfortable.

Coulter makes her living by being snide and snarky and keeping the status quo – keeping the bitter frothing. The President is actively involved in moving this country forward and correcting the mistakes of the previous administration(s). People can use their own intellect to decide who they should respect and listen to.

I believe Ann Coulter is a shining example of what America is all about and should be. The fact that a transgendered person can ascend to be the spokesperson for conservative causes truly shows that you can live your dreams as an American. Andrew Coulter, now "Ann"-- even with an Adam's apple, you're a beautiful American success story.

If Rush weren't so fat, I would think Ann was he in drag, instead of whomever she realy is. She makes Palin sound smart. Witty does not equate to intelligence. And, Palin isn't smart.

One word for the likes of Coulter. Irrelevant!!!! Ok, a few more words. She's a clown. I don't mean that superficially either. Her role is conservative clown. I am a liberal, but I respect true conservatives, and there ideas on fiscal responsibility. The conversations and resulting policies need to reflect the balance between these view points, with a common respect for the others significant concerns (general welfare vs. effective means). Clowns like Coulter turn this into a circus, with nothing but distraction and wasted breath. WHY, WHY, WHY do we give her a stage?
