Coulter jabs Obama at CPAC

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.
Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

(CNN) - Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter’s 15-minute address at CPAC played more like a stand-up comedy act than a political speech.

Coulter delivered line after line of jabs at President Obama, the Democratic Party and the media – each met with roaring laughter from the crowd.

The commentator – who is no stranger to controversy – first went after MSNBC, calling the hosts the “alternative prom crowd.”

Pointing to recent comparisons of Obama to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, Coulter said the media has turned from being the people’s watchdog to the “government guard dog.”

“Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see Lincoln text messaging with Scarlet Johansson … and I forget, how many times did Lincoln vote present?” she said, to much applause.

Coulter likened members of the media and Democrats to parents “gushing” over a newborn baby.

“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said.

She said it was interesting that Obama’s “adorers” in the media compare him to Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, because, “apparently they can’t think of a Democratic president worthy of being compared to.”

“If [Obama] thinks people wanted change in 2009, wait until 2012,” she said.

Coulter has a long history of making controversial comments about politicians. Following her appearance at the 2007 CPAC, multiple companies asked to pull their ads from her Web site after she used what some observers called an anti-gay slur to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

She was also at odds with Sen. John McCain during the campaign season, saying "John McCain is not only bad for Republicanism, which he definitely is - he is bad for the country."

Yo! I'm an AMERICAN! I do not see myself as Rep or Dem and know we need function not division. Looking for high quality information to move foward I just gotta laugh at anyone who would depend on two showbizz gaffs like Anne and Rush. The only reason they have their position in media is because of their daddys. Rushs daddy bought him a radio station,Annies daddy created a spot for the female ideal mate should Joe Macarthy be ressurected and want to mate. Just like Bush they were born with Le Silver Spoon, resenting daddys control.Rush & anne both have eating disorders, this they CAN control.I LOVE comedy. Anne is much funnier than Rush.Chris Rock is funnier than Anne, but going to them as a source of information is,well, funny until we realize it's a meter of how in trouble we are as a country. The GOP better learn the differance between intelligence and wisdom, entertainment and information or they are doomed just like Bush!

Hey, don't worry libs. With Obama in office all of our world problems will be solved.

We'll just ramp up our debt to the point where there is no way our children can pay for it. Thank you Obama.

The more you learn, the more you turn republican. Let's take Barney Fife - oops, I mean Frank who put us in the economic mess. Or, lets take Dodd who received a sweatheart loan from the same people who put us in this mess.

Get a life. Our current VP says that you can't go into a 7-11 without smelling an Indian. And it's Palin who gets crucified on late night shows?

All of those who voted dem party line - you're going to get what you deserve. Inflation and high unemployment. Just as Frank and Dodd prescribed.

The President's own CBO says his spending is going to HURT the economy. Get a life people and THINK!

Politics in America is getting uglier everyday. Do politicans not care about the well beings of the American people? It seems like political "ideologies" supercede the American people. So why do we need politicians when they are not representing our best interests?

The GOP is nothing more than a hate group and the Dems are the "hope" group. Which party do you think will win at the end? In my understanding hate, anger, lies and remarks like this never touch people. Supporting the GOP is like anticipating for a suicide bomb ready to crush America. With so much hate between the two parties, I am beginning to believe that America will probably segregate in the future into the United States of the Red and the United States of the Blue, and independents will proprably be cast off on an island somewhere near Alaska.

Ann Coulter has never had an original thought. He whole life is based on attacking others who happen to disagree with her very right wing view. Where were she and Rush when the Bush administration increased federal spending to new levels, increased the deficit to a record dollar amount and failed to take action to avert the economic meltdown? She and others would rather see the American people continue to suffer rather than give Obama credit for recovery efforts.

As far as I'm concerned the republicans are done, they are truly out of touch with reality, if they think for one minute this is the way to lure people in they are sadly mistaken. This kind of approach will only appeal to a small group of people.!!!!

You shouldn't be surprised that liberals get so riled up. After all, liberalism is a mental disorder. These are the people that don't want to take responsibility for anything they do. They want to tell everyone else how to act, and what they can say or do. If a liberal hears something they don't like, they can only get combative. Obama, will, not may, WILL go down in history as the worst president of these United Socialist States of America.

The next campaign will begin in 2 years, because we will still be in the economic toilet because of the constipated thinking of Obama and Pelosi and that moron Reid. First, replace CONGRESS, then one year later gear up to remove the Hand Puppet that is your President.

As a psychotherapist, I see many symptoms of mental illness in the Republican leadership: intense fear, paranoia, unbridled anger, religious delusions, "us against them" mentality, rigid morals, blaming others for their mistakes, racial divisiveness, hatred, arrogance, bitterness, denial of their problems, authoritarian attitudes, anxiety, low self-esteem, etc.

I would recommend to any republican some serious psychiatric help and long-term therapy!

To BRAD H: uh, the last time I checked, before the election, cnn was getting heat for leaning a little too far to the left. Hmmm....maybe instead of being part of the problem, they are just doing what journalists do and are trying to give reports for both sides of the pool. Liberals!

All I am reading here is hatred spew from nimble-minded liberals...who love nothing better than to call conservatives "haters.."

Or, perhaps it's merely fear; because when pushed, a liberal cannot defend any policy of OBama's without going against the American way or the Rights we have as citizens. That's why I think liberals get so upset (and the 700 posts here substantiate this) is because they know deep inside they're jealous and have hatred towards those that have made their way, and are successful. The easy way out for libs is to elect an "official thug-thief," so then they feel better about stealing and spreading around what's not theirs....hopefully a revolution will put an end to liberalism...why? Because liberals are a minority, despite what the media tries to present....the country's still full of good, center-rigth people... and ....well....as far as liberals go, you excise a cancer, you cannot reason with it.

  22. Independent Voted Democrat

The GOP would really benefit well in the coming years if they would finally realize that they really do need to revamp themselves. To me, they are now the party known as stubborn children who keep saying no and will never say yes to anything whatsoever. They could rise once again if they would send the message of fiscal responsibility but also understand that we live in a new era. We do not live in the 1980's anymore. Nearly 30 years later, we now face a ton of new issues, some of which were hidden under the carpet for too long, such as health care costs and energy. While I don't agree with everything that Obama is doing, at least he is finally doing something about these issues unlike the previous presidents from the last few decades.

I think what the GOP needs to start doing is offer their own solutions instead of simply saying no to what Obama is doing. If the GOP were in power right now, what would they do about all of this? The answer can't be nothing anymore, because the American people are getting tired of that. As we have seen during the Reagan/Bush years, tax cuts alone are not the answer to all of our problems. The world is getting more complex each and every day and we have to find new ways to deal with them. Of course, simply spending isn't the answer either and I hope Obama will do more than just that.

Either way, I think the GOP needs to sit aside for the next few years and if Obama can't get the job done well enough, then that's fine. But you guys need to start coming up with some new solutions. People aren't going to buy the tax cut thing anymore unless it is combined with some other answers.

I hope the youth of America realize that all this spending by Obama will mostly help the wealthy as their investments begin to rise again. It's the youth that will be left with a "lower standard of living" because they will have this debt to repay over many decades- that's the basic conservative message. We are not even talking about the social security problem facing our aging nation as we add more and more new spending programs. There is no "free lunch" when the government spends money that it doesn't have, that's how we got in this mess by many Americans spending borrowed money and now can't pay it back.

These posts are hilarious! God forbid that anyone criticize the Obomanation Socialist Society of America... They need only look at their great leader, -THE ONE – to see what is wrong with our once great country. Obama is the most controlling and arrogant leader of modern history. The demogods only want complete and total control (also called communism) they want to steal from the hard workers to give to the poor. Keep burying your head in the sand and maybe things will get better... Good luck with that.

I find the remarks from Ann and Rush a refreshing taste of truth and sensibility. But then again I am just a gun toting, bible clinging Christian.
