Coulter jabs Obama at CPAC

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

(CNN) - Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter’s 15-minute address at CPAC played more like a stand-up comedy act than a political speech.

Coulter delivered line after line of jabs at President Obama, the Democratic Party and the media – each met with roaring laughter from the crowd.

The commentator – who is no stranger to controversy – first went after MSNBC, calling the hosts the “alternative prom crowd.”

Pointing to recent comparisons of Obama to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, Coulter said the media has turned from being the people’s watchdog to the “government guard dog.”

“Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see Lincoln text messaging with Scarlet Johansson … and I forget, how many times did Lincoln vote present?” she said, to much applause.

Coulter likened members of the media and Democrats to parents “gushing” over a newborn baby.

“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said.

She said it was interesting that Obama’s “adorers” in the media compare him to Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, because, “apparently they can’t think of a Democratic president worthy of being compared to.”

“If [Obama] thinks people wanted change in 2009, wait until 2012,” she said.

Coulter has a long history of making controversial comments about politicians. Following her appearance at the 2007 CPAC, multiple companies asked to pull their ads from her Web site after she used what some observers called an anti-gay slur to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

She was also at odds with Sen. John McCain during the campaign season, saying "John McCain is not only bad for Republicanism, which he definitely is - he is bad for the country."

I knew the GOP was in bad shape but when they have to resort to the likes of Coulter and Limbaugh it's obvious they are really hurting.

Ann Coulter is a ratings driven loud mouth. The GOP is full of a bunch of cry babies. Bush was handle with kid gloves his first 3 years and he was a complete disaster both from a policy stand point and were he has led our country economically and politically intentionally.

The GOP attack machine has been in full gear since the inception of the Obama campain. Calling him a terrorist, a Muslim and criticizing his every move. But they have only a small soap box to stand on because they ran the most partisan administration in history and the results were devastating.

Ann will say what ever she has to to drive book sales and rating but she lacks substance and character.

Coulter and Limbaugh are as far right as Pelosi and Reid are left. Neither group will do service for the Nation. Neither group cares about the folks on Main St, or the farms, or the ghettos. Its all about power. They want power and control and the ability to spend our money in any way they see fit. I feel an insurrection brewing. The question is who will step up and lead the Nation based on the Constitution not right and left wing ideology. Whenthat person emerges a tidal wave of relief with consume the Nation and wah away the far right and left into the abysiss.

Will someone stand up, show some guts and lead our Nation back to our foundation and govern under the guides of the Constitution and al l its amendments?

    German, Irish American.
It's people like you who helped the last administration get away with all the corruption they got away with. Who allowed those folks put our country into it's present horrible economic state with some of those same 'fly-over state' comments and thoughts.
Your kind allowed the Bush Administration to walk in as if they were a vampire at the front door who asked permission to enter the home without fully realizing the danger you and the rest of us were in.

Although your comments are yours and should be respected, I do not agree with this way of thinking. What happened to "G-D and country"?
This president is actually thinking about Americans for a change and not about his father's corporate cronies and how much money they'll make by outsourcing American jobs to inferior quality producing countries like China or India.

The president has only been on the job for just over a month and after fighting a hard and well thought-out campaign, he was left with one of the worst situations this countries been in since the depression.

Which one are you? German, Irish or...American?

republicans have sold their souls to the devils. the american people that want our country to be the best will never accept such vile, ignorance that the party is throwing out to be the "new" leadership. god help them! steele is a joke.palin is a hater-munger .jindal is clueless and add these other bottom feeders to the mix to do the talking points and it spells out nothing but defeat for a once respectable party but has disolved into a heap of trash.

Ann Coulter, like the drug addict, Rush Limbaugh are 20th century trolls trying to ply their corrupt wares in the 21st century. Sorry, not going to work! Look at your base, composed of mainly silly old white men over 45 as well as women who still think June Cleaver is a role model.

You dimwit Republicans keep propping up the same fools delivering the same old tired, worn out messages. Most sensible Americans have left you idiots in the dust, you're just too stupid to realize it!!

So keep the zingers coming Ann and Rush, all you dweebs are doing is digging a deeper hole and relegating you're beloved party to regional, hillbilly status!!

It seems like Ann Coutler, struck a nerve, she certainly got you dems all fired up, you can dish it out, but you certainly can't take a dose of your own medicine. You have the audacity to talk about hate, where were all you peace, loving folks, when the media was tearing Gov. Palin apart, calling her every name in the book, and even spreading vicous lies about her family, claiming that Gov. Palin youngest son, was exactly her daughter's son. And for the record, the sleeveless look was first made famous by Jackie Kennedy, remember her? a real first lady, who didn't have to copy anybody's style, she was an orginal, and the most beautiful, and graceful first lady yet!!!!!

Good going Ann, but if you wait a few minutes bo will change the past president he likens himself to. So far it has been Kennedy, Lincoln, Roosevelt, and most recently Reagan. Guess he does NOT have enough balls to be his own president.
