Coulter jabs Obama at CPAC

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

(CNN) - Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter’s 15-minute address at CPAC played more like a stand-up comedy act than a political speech.

Coulter delivered line after line of jabs at President Obama, the Democratic Party and the media – each met with roaring laughter from the crowd.

The commentator – who is no stranger to controversy – first went after MSNBC, calling the hosts the “alternative prom crowd.”

Pointing to recent comparisons of Obama to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, Coulter said the media has turned from being the people’s watchdog to the “government guard dog.”

“Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see Lincoln text messaging with Scarlet Johansson … and I forget, how many times did Lincoln vote present?” she said, to much applause.

Coulter likened members of the media and Democrats to parents “gushing” over a newborn baby.

“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said.

She said it was interesting that Obama’s “adorers” in the media compare him to Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, because, “apparently they can’t think of a Democratic president worthy of being compared to.”

“If [Obama] thinks people wanted change in 2009, wait until 2012,” she said.

Coulter has a long history of making controversial comments about politicians. Following her appearance at the 2007 CPAC, multiple companies asked to pull their ads from her Web site after she used what some observers called an anti-gay slur to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

She was also at odds with Sen. John McCain during the campaign season, saying "John McCain is not only bad for Republicanism, which he definitely is - he is bad for the country."

I would just love to read all 900+ comments on here but I don't have time for childish name calling from weak minded sheep. I just bought a house and guess what? I can afford it and my mortgage isn't an ARM or interest only!

"Alternative prom crowd" – gay-baiting humor = Republican's entire platform. And they're stuck with that for the next 3 elections or so. You've earned this exile, Republicans, think about that every day.

    Hey Barbara,
New flash: America IS in the poorhouse! Guess who put us there? 8 years of phony wars and excesses by politically aligned bankers and false investors. If you don't see this then you must be very wealthy or very oblivious. Of course the fact that you say Obama is "for abortion" makes me think you are the latter. Keep worshiping morons like Coulter and Limbaugh. It just exposes the rot and corruption that's eroded America.

"The liberals and Democrates have refused to respect conservative views and it is time Conservatives stand up to these institutions."

The last time I checked, it was the voter that ultimately decides which views get respected. Get a new talking point "young conservative".

The far left liberals are a cruel and dying breed. They preach for the rights of everyone and everything but only if it is their current pet project. What a waste they are.

If this is the best the GOP can dredge up to represent their message, then they have truly lost sight of America. I don't think the world will have to suffer through another Republican government like Bush and company for decades to come.

We need ideals and progress, not third rate stand up comics and Joe the plumbers. And most of all not hate spewing do nothing blowhards like Limbaugh herding the GOP party around like obedient sheep. The real joke is what the GOP has made itself into. What happened? Did you sell your souls so many times you forgot where they are?

Seriously, get this racist, bigoted, sexist, ignorant, anti-semitic, anti-muslim off the stage. She represents Republicans at their very worst.

Unless republicans disown the likes of Rush, Coulter, and Hannity, they are doomed for ever.

Annie and Rush are two of the most ignorant, bigoted, hate mongers this side of post Nazi Germany. They spew hate and fear among the least educated parts of this country who oddly enough are generally e poor, rural whites who would most benefit from the programs that Obama proposes. What has Limbaugh or Coulter ever done to help the situation? They are selfish morons concerned about no one but themselves and their own greedy ambitions. Apparently the Repunks. arent concerned about growing the party if these two skinheads are their leaders. Oh, and what does Michael Steele have to say about these two? I'm sure he was in a corner grinning and knee slapping with a token sign draped around his neck. But I guess thats better than a noose.

I am no fan of Al Sharpton or Jackson, but seriously how can you even begin compare Coulter with Jackson or Sharpton? Jesse Jackson lived through the civil rights movement where prejudice against Blacks was LAW. Al sharpton today has witnessed innocent Blacks being targeted killed by cops. I do not agree with their methods of getting their points across, and everything that they say, but at least their anger is justified in ways that can be documented.

What can you document that Ann Coulter has lived through, that would justify this level of anger on her part? Show me, and I will be open to your point of view.

No more plantations Rush and Coulter. If your way of thinking is the reflection of the Republican party, they can forget being elected for a long time. I am looking forward to having a good laugh as they talk their way into obsoleteness. It is clear that America has more serious things on their mind as they face job losses and home foreclosure, or face bankruptcy because of health bills that they cant afford to pay.

All she cares about is writing her books and filling them with the most idiotic lies that only 32% of the populatiion believe. Her problem is she always has to ratchet up her BS to sell the next book. She has gotten to be irrelevant on the Natrional stage and it just shows the state of the GOP that they have included her in their PROM!
