Coulter jabs Obama at CPAC

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

(CNN) - Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter’s 15-minute address at CPAC played more like a stand-up comedy act than a political speech.

Coulter delivered line after line of jabs at President Obama, the Democratic Party and the media – each met with roaring laughter from the crowd.

The commentator – who is no stranger to controversy – first went after MSNBC, calling the hosts the “alternative prom crowd.”

Pointing to recent comparisons of Obama to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, Coulter said the media has turned from being the people’s watchdog to the “government guard dog.”

“Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see Lincoln text messaging with Scarlet Johansson … and I forget, how many times did Lincoln vote present?” she said, to much applause.

Coulter likened members of the media and Democrats to parents “gushing” over a newborn baby.

“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said.

She said it was interesting that Obama’s “adorers” in the media compare him to Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, because, “apparently they can’t think of a Democratic president worthy of being compared to.”

“If [Obama] thinks people wanted change in 2009, wait until 2012,” she said.

Coulter has a long history of making controversial comments about politicians. Following her appearance at the 2007 CPAC, multiple companies asked to pull their ads from her Web site after she used what some observers called an anti-gay slur to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

She was also at odds with Sen. John McCain during the campaign season, saying "John McCain is not only bad for Republicanism, which he definitely is - he is bad for the country."

Of course Ann Coulter's speech was more like a comedy routine. Who can take anything this awful, hate-mongering woman says seriously?

The moderate faction of the Republican Party had better step up and try and save their party instead of letting people like Rush & Ann further alienate them from mainstream Americans!! IDIOTS!!

Awe.... what's the matter liberal democrats? Did she hurt your feelings? Poor babies. I love it that she can rile so many of you up after just one speech. She should know by now that democrats have fragile self-esteem problems and need to be loved at all times. That is why they are reaching out to the terrorists. They can't handle criticism. It turns them into little children, like on a playground, rebutting with name calling.

I find that people who criticize everything and everybody are people who don't like themselves.

Rush/Ann are 2 people who could nerver give LOVE because they don't know how to accept LOVE They really hate themselves. How sad!

I may not agree with everything she says, but I must say that all of you that say CNN or other media shouldn't cover her are very hypocritical. The idea of censoring the media is a big mistake (even though I don't always agree with what they present). Just think... if things were censored, most of the comments on this board would need to be removed for defamation of Ann's character.

Get real... take responsibility for your actions... and listen to others... most people have something to offer (even if you don't agree with everything).

I'm a FORMER Republican. Why? Because they ARE NOT the party Ronald Reagan left behind. They are CERTAINLY not the party Abraham Lincoln founded!
Republicans have lost their way in a GRAVE manner, and nothing proves this more to me now than seeing the two greatest tools on stage touted as the face of Republicans: Coulter and Limbaugh.
What is the matter with you Republicans? Did you forget how Bush did the complete opposite of our principles? I mean, was I the ONLY one that couldn't congratulate Bush for "defending America?" for 8 years? Excuse, but didn't it take THE DEATH OF 3,000+ AMERICANS ON 9/11 to MOTIVATE him to do just that?! That's like saying I'm a good driver, AFTER the 20 car pile-up, killing of 6 people for negligent driving 8 years ago.
I'm not a Democrat either. I can't stand some of their priniciples, but my former party has turned into a creature that I can't recognize, and in light of this, I can only go independent and join to work with other Republicans against your Neo-ConArtist dealings.

Coulter and Limbaugh are the faces of DEATH to the Republican Party- once a party of intellectualism, and fiscal responsibility is now nothing more than a party for jingoism, and latent racism!

Please somebody put a sock in her mouth. I can't believe the Republicans want her to represent them.

I am an Independent and it is pretty comical, listening to hate spewed first from the right and then from the left but neither side counts their hate speech as hate speech.

you libs are so funny. you complain about racist remarks and call the GOP intolerant and then turn around and describe the GOP and Ann and Rush in the most racist and intolerant remarks. could this be because deep down you know they speak the truth. while ann can be abrasive and both are somewhat extreme. they are right and that burns you up. if we are so out of touch then why are the majority of americans upset with nobama? you cant take the heat even though for 8 years and even now, with bush out of office you still suffer from bush derangement syndrome. you will see change in 2010 when americans vote republican and once again put the left back in their box or back in california cause your wonderful policies work sooooo well!

The liberal loonies have come back to the ticker in droves. Their messiah has given each another 10,000 envelopes of Kool Aid and they have at least two gallons in the fridge just in case they start getting the shakes....or is that the "tingles" or "shivers" as Chris Matthews would put it.

Just like during the election, they're out with their mighty keyboards pouncing on anything and anybody who might disagree with their imperious leader. "Oh God, it's a conservative," they scream, standing up and sitting down 1000 times like their "Queen," Ping Pong Pelosi.

The GOP's future has suddenly become bright, as people are starting to realize that this country is in deep doo doo now that the Dims are selling the country to the Chinese in order to make sure everyone has the same can of soup in their cupboard.

Give it another six months, Reality will raise it's ugly head, and it's not gonna be pretty.

I dont see anything wrong about what Anne Coulter is saying, she is right about how the media is reacting to Obama.

They are treating him like he is the Messiah, when the truth is that he is a unexperienced politician with questionable judgement (look at the preacher he was following in Chicago).

I think what she said is actually pretty funny and true.

I find it ironic that the people on this blog who are denouncing Anne Coulter as being divisive, mean spirited, etc. are doing so in terms that are much more divisive and mean spirited than anything she has to say. How in the world does what she had to say lead to charges of her being a bimbo or bleached blond tramp? It is truly shocking to me that people cannot see their own hypocrisy. It saddens me to think what this country has become. Too many have been so blinded by their ideology that they can no longer think like rational human beings. It really is a sad thing to see. God help us all.

If Rush and Coulter are the new voice of the conservative movement this will only serve to alienate moderates even more. They were speaking to a room full of people who needed a big conservative hug after the events of the past few months but I'm sure there are Republicans who fear where their party is headed and how the American public will respond to these rants and tirades.

Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow are not like Ann Coulter and Rush limbaugh.

I'd say maybe Al Franken is the polar opposite of Ann. I'm not sure there is a polar opposite of Rush. Don't see a popular socialist (left) compared to the extreme right wing Rush. Maybe someone from the neo nazi's can relate. ?? These twits have nothing to do with the news.

  22. YES WE CAN'T!!!

If Coulter was 'irrelevant', she would not be getting over 1,000 comments from narrow-minded liberals here. The best part was when she talked about the Obama media comparisons to Reagan and Lincoln, and how the media hasn't found a good Democrat to compare the Messiah to. Keep it up Ann!

As a fiscal conservative, the only true pleasure I receive from Ann Coulter is how she makes the far left squeal . . . but then again they are the party of pork barrel politics.

There has got to be a reason as to why Ann is so bitter and lonely. I'm thinking she was molested as a child or something horrible has happened to her.
She is just way out there and I almost feel sorry for her.
    Almost! I said, lol.
Actually her a Rush wold make a fabulous couple. EEWWWW, don't do the visual.
