Coulter jabs Obama at CPAC

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

(CNN) - Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter’s 15-minute address at CPAC played more like a stand-up comedy act than a political speech.

Coulter delivered line after line of jabs at President Obama, the Democratic Party and the media – each met with roaring laughter from the crowd.

The commentator – who is no stranger to controversy – first went after MSNBC, calling the hosts the “alternative prom crowd.”

Pointing to recent comparisons of Obama to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, Coulter said the media has turned from being the people’s watchdog to the “government guard dog.”

“Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see Lincoln text messaging with Scarlet Johansson … and I forget, how many times did Lincoln vote present?” she said, to much applause.

Coulter likened members of the media and Democrats to parents “gushing” over a newborn baby.

“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said.

She said it was interesting that Obama’s “adorers” in the media compare him to Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, because, “apparently they can’t think of a Democratic president worthy of being compared to.”

“If [Obama] thinks people wanted change in 2009, wait until 2012,” she said.

Coulter has a long history of making controversial comments about politicians. Following her appearance at the 2007 CPAC, multiple companies asked to pull their ads from her Web site after she used what some observers called an anti-gay slur to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

She was also at odds with Sen. John McCain during the campaign season, saying "John McCain is not only bad for Republicanism, which he definitely is - he is bad for the country."

53-46 was a mediocre victory? She sure seemed thrill with the 51-49 bush win in '04 and the fact that he was in the negative in 2000 but won anyway. This woman is cancer to society. Insults jewish people and 9/11 widows and her base loves her. Shows whats wrong with the world today.

It's interesting the comments here from all the loving, unifying, open-minded and fair liberals. You hate Limbaugh because he's fat, you hate Coulter because she's skinny, you call them everything but a child of God, and then you say THEIR hatefulness is shameful.

    Very interesting.

    Tom said:

The republican party won't exist in 50 years? You idiots do realize that most smart people who go to college and work hard for a living become conservatives, right? No one wants to pay for your health care or your meals you idiots.
That attitude right there shows your ignorance. The fact that you actually believe that all educated hard working people are conservative, and all democrats are welfare-milking idiots. What cave do you live in? I know plenty of well educated successful people who are democrats, and I know plenty of ignorant people who have no health care and show just show up for the ER who are Republicans (some of my relatives in fact). Generalizations only display your skewed view of the situation here.

The large majority of these comments demonstrate the need for better education (and common sense Training) for our nation. The amount of non-factual information provided and the " you're so spiteful and mean but I can call you and others anything I wish and I'm not mean nor spiteful" attitude portrayed by so many of the comments, can only leave anyone who really tries to listen to both sides of an issue with the impression that our nation is in the hands of a very questionable electorate

But the media wasn't being a "government watchdog" during the past eight years when they basically allowed Bush et. al. to get us into a disastrous war in Iraq, among other debacles? This is the best this "woman" can come up with? Be part of the solution, Coulter, not the problem.

Many have said it here: Coulter and Limbaugh are entertainers who make their considerable incomes by pushing the buttons of those who want their buttons pushed. My remedy for Coulter and Limbaugh: turn off the TV/radio or switch channels/stations, and NEVER, EVER buy anything they write or promote. If they should say/do something actually newsworthy because it contributes positively and intelligently to the national discourse (I'm hardly holding my breath!), reputable sources will let me know, and I can watch/read what they have to say for FREE! . . . And the less attention they draw, the sooner they'll disappear. Starve 'em, I say!

Anne Coulter is a horrible excuse for a woman. She's not even a woman. She's a stick and she doesn't think about what she says – she's just going for shock value.

Yet, she was pretty shocked when Al Franken gave her a public smackdown that you can look up on youtube and enjoy.

    It was brilliant.

One of the right wing propaganda machines. Liberals are actually in this country are the ones doing all the work while these republicans make a fortune of the backs of them. The country has changed more than you trailer park whites think, you need to get out more. You right wingers are in big trouble, minorities will not vote for you anymore.

coulter is irrelevant. Limbaugh is just a fat gas-bag lucky enough to have a two-bit radio show. together they stand for nothing or next to nothing- the far right extreme. history will not remember them.

Look at the dress she's wearing – she call herself a conservative but dresses the way she does to get attention. She should have manure dumped on her in front of a crowd of people who would then laugh at her for 24 straight hours. That is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the humiliation her ego deserves.

Ann Coulter is a joke. She came to UCONN when I was there and booed offstage after 5 minutes. It even made the Factor, which was hilarious.

You people really need to seek mental therapy, living in denial is an illness. Man Coulter is just like a bum on the street yelling at no one but herself. And the only ones that listen to a nut like her are equally sick in the head morons who can't believe their mighty republican machine has been crushed. With tattered remains defended by clueless and pitiful bums themselves.

Hateful, prejudice, racist, jokesters Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh are the reasons why so many of us Moderate Republicans are either turning to the Democrat Party or the Libertarian Party. Frankly, these two don't represent my ideas of Conservatism. Neither one can talk seriously on a issue without making fun, joking or lying about the issues.
