Coulter jabs Obama at CPAC

Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.
Democrats, President Obama and the media were the targets of Ann Coulter’s jokes.

(CNN) - Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter’s 15-minute address at CPAC played more like a stand-up comedy act than a political speech.

Coulter delivered line after line of jabs at President Obama, the Democratic Party and the media – each met with roaring laughter from the crowd.

The commentator – who is no stranger to controversy – first went after MSNBC, calling the hosts the “alternative prom crowd.”

Pointing to recent comparisons of Obama to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, Coulter said the media has turned from being the people’s watchdog to the “government guard dog.”

“Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see Lincoln text messaging with Scarlet Johansson … and I forget, how many times did Lincoln vote present?” she said, to much applause.

Coulter likened members of the media and Democrats to parents “gushing” over a newborn baby.

“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said.

She said it was interesting that Obama’s “adorers” in the media compare him to Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, because, “apparently they can’t think of a Democratic president worthy of being compared to.”

“If [Obama] thinks people wanted change in 2009, wait until 2012,” she said.

Coulter has a long history of making controversial comments about politicians. Following her appearance at the 2007 CPAC, multiple companies asked to pull their ads from her Web site after she used what some observers called an anti-gay slur to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

She was also at odds with Sen. John McCain during the campaign season, saying "John McCain is not only bad for Republicanism, which he definitely is - he is bad for the country."

Anne, do us a favor and stay on the "gas bag" bus to nowhere. Rush Limbaugh is the driver, Sara Palin, and Joe not-the-Plumber, and Sean Hannity, and Bill O'Reilly, just to name a few. Don't forget Tim Pawlenty – he really wants to get on the bus, and you really should be let him on!

What are you getting from the stimulus? It must be REAL good or all of you should be up and arms. But instead you are bashing the people who are trying to save you and your children from this rape job.
This country is going down in a ball of flames with BO and you people are cheering it on.
You all need to do your research and realize while this may have happened on Bush's watch it was implamented under Clinton. Bush tried twice for regulation but your brilliant democratic congress denied it because they were making huge money off both Freddie and Fanny. Granted, Bush made plenty of mistakes....given, so don't wine. But he should only be blamed for the mistakes he truly made. We could have recovered from deficit caused by the war, Katrina etc. I know you people are going to repeat that rhetoric.....We will never recover from this stimulus and budget of this administration.
My gosh people, how long will you stay so ignorant. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.....
By the way- what's the difference between BO honoring Stevie Wonder at the White House and the big banks hiring Sheryl Crow to sing at their lavish dinners?. All it amounted to was a free concert for Michele at the tax payers expense!!! If you were being on honored would you work? He put on a full concert when he should have been kicking back and accepting some sort of stupid plauque. Lied to AGAIN by BO .....no pork, no lobbiest, no wasteful spending......"Let me make this clear I don't have to do what I say. I am the Messiah. You will cheer me and worship me......drink the koolaid.

if you take out religion and abortion, I agree with many of the ideas Republicans have about fiscal responsibility. However, I could never vote Republican as long as they embrace people like Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh. As a Democrat who voted third party this election, I feel I don't have a party. Both parties are so consumed with hatred and rage, that I want no part of either. If you think I'm wrong, just read the comments here, each party is filled with intolerance. The Obama supporters here who spew hate, don't understand that the Democratic party used to be the party of ideas and acceptance, now we are just the party of gimme and name calling.

The only reason Ann didn't like Palin is because she viewed her as her competition. There's not enough room for 2 good looking uneducated women in the party.

Limbaugh is comparing the people of this country, who are losing their jobs, homes, and going hungry to the Superbowl, the mother of all extravaganzas. It clearly outlines the views of a person making $400 million against someone on the brink of homelessness.

These people are really crazy and nuts.

    annie – Palin 2012:

It would only be fitting that Coulter campaign as Palin's running mate in 2012.

I do hope that Sarah changes her mind and campaigns as the GOP front runner in 2012. Her hate mongering of this past election season may lose a bit of its luster by then and the majority of the educated world may need to be reminded of why it distrusts and hates Conservative America(ns); and rightly so.

    You are the dying breed.

What put us in the poor house is democracy but apparently no one in this country even understands how government was supposed to work and how it actually ended up working.

You people want real change stop voting for democrats and republicans both parties have proven that they haven't a clue to what they are doing.

I suggest some of you actually study Antiquities before acting like you know anything about government and its role in governing.

With not a lot of respect,

You do not find Christianity on display under a big top circus tent in Europe as you do in red state America. Ann Coulter represents those who believe in their own interpretation of American isolationist Conservative Christianity found only in the United States.

We are in trouble as a country. We need more Blue Dogs in Congress; they don't have the extreme Republicans views nor do they lean to far to the left. They will be able to work with the President to have a constructive conversation to get a robust solution to this problem. As for these two clowns (Coulter and Limbaugh); God help us.
