(CNN) - Conservative political commentator Ann Coulter’s 15-minute address at CPAC played more like a stand-up comedy act than a political speech.
Coulter delivered line after line of jabs at President Obama, the Democratic Party and the media – each met with roaring laughter from the crowd.
The commentator – who is no stranger to controversy – first went after MSNBC, calling the hosts the “alternative prom crowd.”
Pointing to recent comparisons of Obama to Jesus and Abraham Lincoln, Coulter said the media has turned from being the people’s watchdog to the “government guard dog.”
“Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t see Lincoln text messaging with Scarlet Johansson … and I forget, how many times did Lincoln vote present?” she said, to much applause.
Coulter likened members of the media and Democrats to parents “gushing” over a newborn baby.
“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said.
She said it was interesting that Obama’s “adorers” in the media compare him to Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, because, “apparently they can’t think of a Democratic president worthy of being compared to.”
“If [Obama] thinks people wanted change in 2009, wait until 2012,” she said.
Coulter has a long history of making controversial comments about politicians. Following her appearance at the 2007 CPAC, multiple companies asked to pull their ads from her Web site after she used what some observers called an anti-gay slur to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.
She was also at odds with Sen. John McCain during the campaign season, saying "John McCain is not only bad for Republicanism, which he definitely is - he is bad for the country."

That's all the republicans can do. Only the insecure tear down others to make themselves feel good. Listening to Limbaugh is another joke, making the democrats look like racists when there is ZERO diversity in the CPAC audience. Keep up the good work and inclusiveness!
Andrew
So CPAC is welcoming Coulter, and they have Limbaugh as a key speaker. Is this their master plan as to how to win back America? What a joke the republican party has become. Michael Steele is like the the blind leading the blind. CPAC and the GOP is so far off track for America it would be laughable if I wasn't a republican at heart. I voted for and supported republicans my entire voting life, until 2008. Palin pushed me away from the party I grew up with, and Steele, Coulter and Limbaugh are keeping me away. I wish Hillary had won the Dem candidacy, but I am a happy Obama republican and will be for the foreseeable future unless the GOP gets it's act together.
This woman is so good at sarcasm it has inspiired some of my own:
Mitt Romney 20
Bobby Jindal 14
Ron Paul 13
Sarah Palin 13
Newt Gingrich 10
Mike Huckabee 7
Mark Sanford 4
Rudy Giuliani 3
Tim Pawlenty 2
Charlie Crist 1
Were these % of votes or their IQs If it is IQs they got the numbers inverted.
It's like Lord Voldemort at a gathering of Death Eaters..what's common? nothing Ann Coulter or Lord Voldemort say is true! It's all based on lies and emotion.
Obama is working hard to bring Socialism to the USA-but what difference does it make? We've seen under Socialism, Communisim and Capitalism that the rich still remain rich and the poor remain poor.
Nothing changes.
Ann Coulter today, Rush Limbaugh tonight. Do you need to know anything more about the conservatives and how little brain matter they possess?
too funny.
she said "“Having pulled off their rather mediocre 53 percent to 46 percent victory, liberals can’t stop boasting about their new baby boy,” she said."
yet, they were gushing 10 times worse when bush was first elected and he LOST the majority vote.
Ann,
You dare mock the greatest President the United States ever had?
Try this on for size lady.
"Fore score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.....etc. If you don't get the rest of it go to Gettysburg, Pa.
And now you wonder why the GOP is so out of touch with mainstream America and all you can do is mock the current administration but you offer no alternatives to the mess that King George created; only the same old rhetoric that did not, has not and will not work.
That these folks would find someone as ill-informed and mean-spirited and narcissistic as Ann Coulter endearing is troubling, to say the least.
I was just watching CNN when the bombastic Limbaugh (watever his name is ) appear to give a manifesto of his arrogant self did you hear CNN he said FOX NEWS so don't waste my time. And Coulter I have never seen a visious women like this on .Is she male or female or a freak of nature.
CPAC is loaded with boobs.
So she can do a stand-up routine. So what? I'll be impressed when she, Limbaugh, and the rest of the far-right actually come up with an idea that's healthy for this country...
...still waiting...
was watching limba on cnn wondered what he looked like without a sheet changed to the weather channel
Ann Coulter is the shining face of irrelevance.
Ms. Coulter is certifiably whacked. This is an unarguable truth. Her venomous spewings should send reasonable people running the other way. Sadly, the ultra-Right Wingers are so equally full of venom, they will align with those of their kind.
By the way, this syndrome is manifest in the puzzling popularity of Rush Limbaugh – certainly the most un-American (no, anti-American) public figure of our time. At a time when our country absolutely needs to pull together, Mr. Limbaugh considers "Republicans working with Democrats" to be treason.
Now, it must be considered Mr. Limbaugh does not really believe his verbal nonsense, and it is really about showbusiness and exploitation of the weak-minded. Ultimately, who knows?
If only those in opposition to the Democratic Party's philosophy and platform would engage in reasonable exchange, life would be better in our country. Rather, it seems so many of them – especially those in the public eye – are happier playing the hate game.
Such is life in our country. As a life-long political independent, I wish for – and work for – better for our society.
she's a joke
This is terrific.
If CPAC is flaunting Coulter and Limbaugh as their honorees, then actions do speak louder than words - although actions by CPAC and words by Coulter are equally ridiculous.
And to Rob who commented about hate coming from the CNN crowd - anything blogged here will pale in comparison to the derogatory nature of either Limbaugh or Coulter who fashion their whole ideology on implausible, inflammatory positions designed to fracture our nation rather than build a coalition.
Coulter-Limbaugh 2012!!!
(Check your sarcasm meter if you think I'm serious...)
If conservatives are right and the Fairness Doctrine is revived, I want the space right next to Ann Coulter to counter her ignorant, manipulated, and spun viewpoints that have no other purpose than pissing people off to up her sales numbers among the more fascist part of our society.
simply a festival of ignorance.
What the Dems really need is an experienced team for President and VP in 2012 to put us back on our feet ... maybe a Barney Frank/Christopher Dodd ticket since they seem to have a real handle on the economy; particularly the financial and housing sectors!
An ugly woman with a prominent Adam's Apple.
Whats with the tight fitting, sleevless outfit? Is she a hooker?
The Republicans will be out of power for at least forty years. They have lost generations of Americans.
people read her books for the same reason people used to go to freak shows.
