To Mo in NY, you and I alike wish that he was a republican but in fact he is a democrat. We all have that member of the family that just doesn't get it. Of course he knew african americans like to consume watermellon more than their white counterparts otherwise there would be no joke. The same as the NY Post cartoonist knew that blacks resmble monkeys otherwise there would be no joke in that either. This all has to stop!

    Jim From The OC WROTE:

"The guy's obviously an idiot……but lighten up folks – should it really be a career ending act? Let's first talk about the tax evaders in Obama's cabinet..!!"
    ***********************************************************************

Yes, it should be a career-ending act. He is an elected official and the citizens should hold him to high standards! I bet they forced him out,. That's democracy at work. If they decide racist mayors is a disqualifier, the better. The citizens need to do this more often. Maybe this will improve the quality of those who occupy our govt offices.

Why do you think we can't discuss this racial issue and tax evaders at the same time? What is the correlation? Of course we can. I hope we all can walk and chew gum at them same time!

Im black, when a white person act racist,, it only hurts people of color when it affects them getting a job or having equal access to something. Racist acts like this one and what the NY Post did arent hurtful to us, neither is the N-word. but these are potentially harmful becuase some white citizen will get the wrong impression that its totally okay. Therefor he must be punished.

How lame... like that cartoonist who didn't see the racism in using a chimp to portray the president or that southern Republican who didn't see using "uppity" to describe Barack Obama as in any way racist... just exactly WHERE is the "state of denial" located? Egypt?

I've lived all over the United States and I know racism when I see it. Why not just put some fried chicken and waffles on the lawn, too? Puleeze.

Its obvious that this country has made great strides in getting beyond matters of race. But Clearly you can see that there are still people who are racists. You cannot deny that it still exists and to a great extent that it affects the daily lives of Black Americans - for example the Black employee that received this email message along with others. No one whether your Black, White, Male, Female, Gay, Straight, Transgender should have to be subjected to jokes mocking their race, nationality, or lifestyle.

This email was clearly intended as means to demean and mock Black people. If you can't see that then you are not being honest with the way things really are in the United States.

Tired of black awareness month. tired of miss black america
Tired of affirmative action. Tired of race baiters who only worry about blacks. isnt that racism

The reasons we have, and still need these things, is because of idiots like this. Its so "White" to tell people how to feel. That is NOT being understanding. We cant fix a problem until we admit there is a problem and saying something is NO BIG DEALor GET OVER IT is not a good start!

Greg in Jax; you are a putz . The watermelon joke wasn't even that funny or original. Now if the joke was about pigeons crapping on chairman Maobama, that would have been funny.

Republicans are a dwindling party of hate-filled fear mongers. Do they really think that people dont mind losing their jobs, homes retirement as a result of 8 years of hypocracy? Peole wake up. Eventually everyone wakes up. The only people still pushing hatred are the ones making money.

I thought only Republicans were racist? Where's Jesse Jackson when the country needs him? Preparing another secret speech about the castration of our President? Al Sharpton, we need you, too!!

I'm sorry, but there are "code" words and pictures that are nothing but pure "racism" not inside jokes or innocent "fun" – just plain undercurrent racism. If you see it you know it and you can defend it or be offended – the fact remains – there was a reason and it was racist. I know I live in the south – I've lived in the west and in the midwest – there are code words, glances, etc. looking to connect that you "agree" and are one of "them". NOT! – I am tired of letting other people run who my friends may be or who I vote for – based soley on color or religiion or gender – I make the choice and I choose "character" and "ability" – we don't need to keep promoting the obvious meaness that still lurks under the surface – America is ready to come forward and give "Character & Ideas" a chance – thank "God".

OK Time for the black comics to stop making racist jokes about their own people, rednecks, Jews, Catholics, Christians and white people. Gosh, they would not have anything to joke about.

Good, he should resign. Racism has no place in public office, he should be ashamed of himself. He needs to remember that Obama was elected by the MAJORITY of Americans. It is beyond childish to send these racist emails around. Grow up, big, fat, stupid white Republican man! I saw him speak on CNN (if you want to call it speaking) and he comes off as a bufoon! CA is much better off without him.
