Palin was the target of an investigation, led by Elton.
Palin was the target of an investigation, led by Elton.

(CNN) – Alaska State Sen. Kim Elton, one of the leading officials to pursue an investigation of Gov. Sarah Palin during the heat of the presidential campaign, has taken a high-level job in the Interior Department.

Palin reacted in a short statement Monday, the day Elton announced his move to Washington.

“Senator Elton pledged his allegiance to President Obama last summer,” said the governor. “We wish him well as he moves on and hope that he uses this job for Alaska’s benefit.”

Palin was the target of an official investigation last year over charges she improperly dismissed a public safety commissioner who refused to fire her sister’s ex-husband, a state trooper. Elton led the legislative investigation of the incident.

The report, released in October, said Palin had the authority to fire the public safety commissioner, and the governor said it cleared her of wrongdoing. But the report also said Palin had abused her power as governor, and had violated state ethics law.

Elton will serve as Director of Alaska Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Interior.

Whats the matter Sarah are you speechless?

just joe   March 3rd, 2009 4:11 pm ET

You guys just don't give up, do you? In the interests of fairness in your fair and balanced coverage, how about running the same article with a photo of the lady from Alaska joining the Obama Administration with at least a short biographical sketch? Would that be too much to ask of you?

walls   March 3rd, 2009 4:10 pm ET

How is this is a story about Sarah Palin escapes me. As a long time Juneauite. I am proud and happy for Senator Elton's selection for this post. He will do a magnificient job for President Obama and the Nation.

Roy   March 3rd, 2009 4:10 pm ET

Palin in 2012??? HA HA HA HA.....boy you Republicans REALLY do want failure don't you?
The only thing Sarah-bou is the 'real deal' about is self-serving political ambition......she would certainly cast us all aside, including YOU, to get a job in D.C. She cares about nothing beyond her small minded small town small universe ideology, period.

Looks like a bit of jealousy that Elton gets to go to the party and Sarah has to stay home.......and bill for it.

susanj   March 3rd, 2009 4:09 pm ET

Mike Mundy in Houston Texas, you're a bigger idiot than Palin.

Sam   March 3rd, 2009 4:09 pm ET

I would say that the true winner here is Sara Palin. She gets to put a republican in the senate and push her own agenda. So, it looks like the foe is actually helping her.

Tom   March 3rd, 2009 4:09 pm ET

For all you liberals who have nothing better to do than to try and insult Sarah Palin, why don't you guys get on with your lives and leave this woman alone. You know, go back to killing babies and supporting terrorist like you usually do. This is what you are good at as you have been doing it for what, about 50 million dead babies now.

Yea, like you killers should judge anyone.

Vera   March 3rd, 2009 4:09 pm ET

Oh boy, a picture of every liberals favorite punching bag. The server for this board is about to crash from being flooded with elementary-school-yard insults.

ross berg- Buffalo, NY   March 3rd, 2009 4:08 pm ET

Sarah Palin is terrific and I can't wait for her to spend more time in the lower 48.

She's the best thing to happen to domestic politics in ages and I hope she'll be active for years to come!!

Failin' Palin is Wailin'   March 3rd, 2009 4:07 pm ET

“We wish him well as he moves on and hope that he uses this job for Alaska’s benefit.”

Sounds like Miss Shake-up DC, is asking for favors and preferential treatment for Alaska in a very blatant and partisan manner. Sort of like the 10 million dollar taxpayer paid for "road to nowhere" she had built.

Sounds like old habits die hard with Miss Alaskan Analsphincter.

A little sad   March 3rd, 2009 4:06 pm ET

@Lotta Muni March 3rd, 2009 3:56 pm ET

I...They seem to drag their opponents through the coals for infractions (for example Joe the plumber's back taxes),

*****************************
It was ironic that 'Joe the Plumber' was spouting off about the taxes that he erroneously was claiming he would have to pay when in fact he chose not to pay the taxes that he owed.

I guess that went over your head, but many others found it pretty amusing, in a hypocritical sort of way....

Robert   March 3rd, 2009 4:06 pm ET

Wow she never forgets a slight huh? "He pledged allegiance last summer to Obama"...... Guess she is mad he caught her abusing her power REGARDLESS of the actual facts of Troopergate...She ABUSED her power......ABUSED.
Evidently Sen. Elton is being noted as someone who will pursue a wrongdoing even if it involves the governor of a state. This is a good quality needed in D.C. And D.C. needs an Alaska representative who's motto is NOT drill baby drill.
Ziv and Kevin, WHAT WORLD do you live in? Obviously Rush Limbaugh's paranoid little world.....

NC listener   March 3rd, 2009 4:02 pm ET

Pay to play at work again! Mr. Elton run a smear campaign against Palin for Obama and a new job in his adminstration will be waiting. I guess the Obama machine was satify with Mr. Elton efforts.

Leslie   March 3rd, 2009 4:02 pm ET

"Elton will serve as Director of Alaska Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Interior."

Hopefully Elton will put the lid on all the senseless killing of innocent animals in Alaska. "Wolf Killer" Palin needs to be put in check. Anyone who allows shooting and killing of animals from a plane or helicopter is a coward and dangerous to society. I am a gun toting Democrat but I do not think this should be legal.

Its the UNITED States of America people, not the Individual States of America...

The operative word being "irrationally".

Who are you exepcting to be named to an advisory position on Alaska? Someone from Rhode Island?

Marc in Virginia   March 3rd, 2009 4:01 pm ET

Typical Chicago politics by the President. Let someone else do your dirty work and handsomely reward them when no one is looking. I think there needs to be an investigation. This stinks of pay-to-play type of politics.

Uncle Ellsworthy   March 3rd, 2009 4:01 pm ET

I see the trash is out and about once more. Let the name "Palin" appear in print somewhere and they are off and running with their obvous lack of any intelligent or worthwhile comments. They aren't even aware of what they are lacking in national leadership. This lack has become all to aparent even in this short time. We can only hope that the country survives.

Palin 2012! Finally, we will get the real deal in 2012. Like Obama says, it will take until 2013 to cut the deficeit because, Palin will help the economy in 2012, like she helped Alaska (great strategy for Obama to get re-elected in saying it will take him until 2013 to fix the deficeit).

HM   March 3rd, 2009 3:56 pm ET

caribou barbie, that's pretty funny jose. you are truly a bandito con mucho hilarioso.

Lotta Muni   March 3rd, 2009 3:56 pm ET

Interesting. I read the report, which failed to provide anything to support the arguemnt that Palin had commited any ethics violation. I'm not encouraged if that's the sort of selection we can expect from this administration. They seem to drag their opponents through the coals for infractions (for example Joe the plumber's back taxes), then conveniently overlook those same infractions when commited by one of their own (for example Tom Daeschle's back taxes)
Welcome to a new era of hypocracy in gov't. Let's call it "Obamacracy".

JGM   March 3rd, 2009 3:56 pm ET

this is great news. @ Mike Mundy What you meant to say was that Sarah Palin was the raw deal!! I bet ol' Sarah has egg on her face since Obama chose someone more knowledgeable besides her. I don't blame Obama for not wanting a corrupt republican hate monger such as Sarah Palin. Good choice for the Director of Alaska Affairs Obama. Keep up with those good choices and good work on the stimulus bill. America is behind you. Let the GOP fall behind!

And?

I honestly don't know how Sarah Palin is in politics. Why would anyone vote for someone as unintelligent as she is? Every interview, the debate, everything. She's yesterday's news. Why is she even being talked about?

Has she learned to speak good English? Has she learned to organize her thoughts? Has she learned to give a good interview? Has she learned how to answer questions so she doesn't come off looking like a complete idiot?

No?

Then why is she still in the news?

And it was a bi-partisonl group consisting of 5 Republicans and 3 Democrats. Kim was the Minority leader, not the leaderof the investigaion. And yet the press is constantly accused of being liberal biased. They expect that we can't remeber events of six months ago.

me   March 3rd, 2009 3:52 pm ET

Wait history revisionsts! Put down that whiteout and stop erasing (tourture) tapes!

A simple trip down (recent) memory lane will reveal to us that this investigation was spear headed by mostly republicans. This is what happens when your party is so corrupt that the only way you can make a positive name for yourself come election time is to throw one of your (alleged) collegues under the "Shame on you" bus.

Paybacks a Palin, ain't it Sarah.

You all know that Palin is fuming right now. I know people here are going to say it's mean or wrong or cruel that Obama chose someone over Palin to be in charge of Alaskan affairs. Personally, I think it's well deserved. Palin was not just someone running against Obama. She was McCain's attack dog.. inciting hate all over the country, while McCain tried to play the nice guy.

Palin deserves everything she gets as a result. With the exception of the hard right wing.. everyone else sees that.. and Palin won't be around much longer.

Jay T.   March 3rd, 2009 3:50 pm ET

i also find it quite amusing that those who voted obama are nothing but sheep, yet the droves who flocked to palin's side without asking any questions are independent thinkers.

I think statements like 'pledged allegiance to Obama' are specifically designed to imply to detractors of this administration that they are not bound to this government the way they would expect any other citizen to be when it serves THEIR purpose. Very dangerous to talk like that to the crazies on both sides (read gun toting haters on the right and window smashing, car burning, World Trade Prostesters and Earth firsters on the left)

Read that one more time, Sarah. And quit whining. It isn't anyone else's fault: own it. You lost and you can blame yourself for dragging down the GOP ticket with your ineptness.

Robin   March 3rd, 2009 3:28 pm ET

Well, perhaps the brother-in-law should not have used his police issued taser on his 10 year old step-son.

Not only should he have been fired, but he also deserved jail time for endangerment of a child.

Edie Mascolo   March 3rd, 2009 3:28 pm ET

I love it! Elton – Sarah's foe – as Director of Alaska Affairs!
Great!

Pay to play

JimB   March 3rd, 2009 3:27 pm ET

This is the kind of obvious payoff that should sicken everyone. Unfortunately, today's climate means it will probably only sicken Republicans.

....and hope that he uses this job for Alaska’s benefit.”

Isn't that lobbying???

aware   March 3rd, 2009 3:25 pm ET

Just remember that Obama has no moral center or code of ethics. He is a postmodern relativist who believes that concepts such as right and wrong, goodness and badness, or truth and falsehood are not absolute but change from culture to culture and situation to situation.

So kill babies or deny medical services to the elderly if it saves money! :(

proud army navy mom   March 3rd, 2009 3:25 pm ET

“Senator Elton pledged his allegiance to President Obama last summer,” said the governor.

Who did you pledge your allegiance to last summer, Palin? On let me guess.....Rush. you were the his number one behind kisser.

Libertarian in AK   March 3rd, 2009 3:23 pm ET

"charges she improperly dismissed a public safety commissioner who refused to fire her sister’s ex-husband, a state trooper."

I can't belive the MSM will not give up on this incomplete statement of the multiple issues concerning this bad cop, sorry 'trooper'

ML Norris   March 3rd, 2009 3:23 pm ET

Please–get over Palin, already. Contrary to what you seem to think, we are not all sitting out here pining away to hear more of her words of questionable wisdom.

Wouldn't it have been more appropriate to post a photo and quote of Sen. Elton instead of subjecting us to Palin's mug and smug comments?

I, for one, have had quite enough half-baked Alaskan for one decade. Please let her go back to what she does best: state-level manipulation of funds, backstabbing anyone who crosses her, and clandestine pork farming.

jo   March 3rd, 2009 3:22 pm ET

Well it sounds like Kim stabed Sarah Pain twice in the back....
Do you think this was a pay off from the Dem's in Washington?

DON'T CLICK SHE WILL GO AWAY   March 3rd, 2009 3:22 pm ET

GO AWAY

mkn   March 3rd, 2009 3:21 pm ET

she hopes he "uses his job" to benefit Alaska?
Shouldn't he "use his job" to benefit everybody ?
This isn't the United States of Alaska !

John   March 3rd, 2009 3:21 pm ET

Senator Elton pledged his allegiance to honesty and integrity, Sarah. No one is fooled. Why don't you go hunting or something? Take a break.

Osmo   March 3rd, 2009 3:21 pm ET

Here it comes, let the Palin bashing begin. I can see it now: "She should just go away already" and "Her party lost, she should shut up and listen for a while" and "Why is she still in the spotlight?" with various jabs about moose and her daughter, because you're all immature. And by the way, we get it. She's from Alaska and her teenage daughter is pregnant. That's so overplayed, it's not even clever anymore, and lost its humor long, long ago. But how many of you have teenaged daughters who are pregnant, or how many of you had children while you were teens? And now take a step back and take a look at all the teens in the country today who have children. Pick a new target, vultures. If Palin is such old news, why keep talking about and bad-mouthing her?

Another thing, you lberal democrats always talk about "Why is she still in the spotlight?" How about you ask the media that, since they're the ones reporting everything. How about you ask CNN why they have such a fixation with her, and feel the need to make everything she does a headline story? It's because they want you to be badmouthing her, since all the media favors and protects the left.

As for the article itself, if she wasn't in the running for the vice presidency, these allegations would have never surfaced farther than Alaska, if at all, and nobody would care about it. It was just the democrats out to destroy her and sabotage her campaign, regardless of whether or not they're true.

Anonymous   March 3rd, 2009 3:20 pm ET

Looks like he got his quid pro quo. Funny to see how this administration does business. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

NYC REPUB   March 3rd, 2009 3:20 pm ET

The GOP doesn't have one, big tent person among them.........it has become sickening to see what my party is becoming.......If the economy turns around, I'm voting Obama/Biden 2012.....

hmoo   March 3rd, 2009 3:19 pm ET

Sounds like a good move for Alaska and its people. Work hard for all of us, Alaska and the lower 48 Kim.

Diane   March 3rd, 2009 3:18 pm ET

The phrase "uses this job" is very telling. That is how she thinks of an elected official's role: as something to be used, not as service. Very opportunistic.

Mark   March 3rd, 2009 3:18 pm ET

What qualifies Mr. Elton for the job? Although I hardly think President Obama was behind an investigation into Governor Palin that began long before she became Senator McCain's running mate, it seems slightly over-cozy that Mr. Elton is being given this administration job unless he is the most qualified candidate.

DNC Playbookie   March 3rd, 2009 3:17 pm ET

Destroy any potential Republican leader.
Prop up Rush Limbaugh.

Jon   March 3rd, 2009 3:14 pm ET

If she violated the law, why is she still governor?

TM in CO   March 3rd, 2009 3:14 pm ET

McCain and Palin did not win the election. As the governor of Alaska, she should only appear in the media within the borders of Alaska, not in national news settings. The sooner you quit reporting on her or things related to her, the sooner she will go away and the sooner the Republican party will heal

jjr   March 3rd, 2009 3:13 pm ET

Hmmmmm....I guess that he was "rewarded" for his work.

Jim   March 3rd, 2009 3:13 pm ET

Another divisive comment from Palin. No surprise there

Typical White Person   March 3rd, 2009 3:11 pm ET

Obama rewards another of his workers...

J. L. Wlker, Sr.   March 3rd, 2009 3:11 pm ET

It looks as if State Senator Kim Elton, the leading official, in the Palin
investigation received a reward for his efforts.

Tom   March 3rd, 2009 3:10 pm ET

Good deal! Somebody can keep an eye on the shady pipeline deals that Sara has been pallin around with.

Dan   March 3rd, 2009 3:10 pm ET

Typical republican left-handed compliment. He "pledged allegience" to Obama because he dared to accuse her of something. And she hopes he uses his *federal* position to aid Alaska. I hope he uses it to better the entire country.

carolflowery   March 3rd, 2009 3:09 pm ET

good grief, what in the world will he be paid for, isnt this proof government is way too big, next they will have a job for watching ants build sandhills

Conservative, FL   March 3rd, 2009 3:09 pm ET

Rewarded by Obama for doing his part in attacking Palin. Between multiple tax dodgers and now something this obvious, I don't know what kind of change you all thought Obama was going to bring, but it certainly doesn't look good, especially since they were attacking Palin on ethics!

At least now we know why democrats like to raise taxes so much, they don't pay them, so it doesn't impact their pocketbook. They are happy to spend the hard earned dollars the rest of us pay in, while they "forget" to report income, etc...

Fairfax Voter   March 3rd, 2009 3:09 pm ET

I'm amazed that a sitting governor would blow off the person who will be the liaison to her state for the sake of a cheap shot, snarky quote. This woman is not only not very bright, but also not very grown up. I hope Alaska thinks carefully before choosing its next leader.

Mike   March 3rd, 2009 3:08 pm ET

Another obamby attack puppy gets his rewards. I wonder if he has paid his taxes.

Dutch/Bad Newz, VA   March 3rd, 2009 3:06 pm ET

Palin probably recommended the guy for the job.

zaphod2000.net   March 3rd, 2009 3:06 pm ET

this ugly woman has abused and broken every ethics law ever put in the books and got away with it, including the dude and his AIP pals. Maybe now she will finally pay for everything she has done and said. Funny that she mentions that Elton pledge allegiance to Obama last summer. That wouldn't have anything to do with her vindictive act?????
Payback time Elton, packback time!!! :) :) :) :)

Farrell, Houston, Tx   March 3rd, 2009 3:05 pm ET

I'm sure Elton's appointment shook Palin in her boots. Palin's comments sounded a bit nasty, why couldn't she just say I'm sure Elton will be a benefit of Alaska. Palin just shows she is just plain tacky and ignorant.

A little sad   March 3rd, 2009 3:04 pm ET

I wish him the best.

jane   March 3rd, 2009 3:03 pm ET

why is the media still giving Palin media attention? she was over and done with in November so why the heck won't she just go away?...

Kathy Brown   March 3rd, 2009 3:03 pm ET

Do the words "quid pro quo" ring a bell?

Kimberly in Azizona   March 3rd, 2009 3:02 pm ET

Who is Palin? The name sounds familiar, isnt she a plumber from Ohio? OH WAIT, shes that lady that was palin' around with mccain for a couple months huh, the lady with 4 pounds of make-up and traitor husband right??

ex-Alaskan   March 3rd, 2009 3:01 pm ET

Gov. Palin should be aware that, here in the United States, one pledges allegiance to a flag, not to a person. But then again, Gov. Palin's awareness seems to begin and end with her own self-interest. Senator Elton has a record of service to Alaska that is longer and more illustrious than that of the governor. He deserves a better send-off from her. Regardless of what La Palin has to say, his loss will matter to ordinary Alaskans, and he will be missed. Thank you, Kim, from a former constituent.

phoenix86   March 3rd, 2009 3:01 pm ET

Aah, Obama paying back a favor. Sounds like Chicago on the Potomac.

chuck   March 3rd, 2009 3:01 pm ET

SARAH PALIN IS LIKE THE SADDAM OF IRAQ,SHE HAS EVERYONE IN ALASKA AMBUSHED. UNFORTUNATELY,I DON'T SEE HER AS GOVERNOR OF ALASKA AFTER ELECTIONS IN 2010. SHE IS AN ABUSIVE PERSONALITY AND THE ALASKA PEOPLE ARE GROWING WEARY OF HER.

Obama 2.0   March 3rd, 2009 2:59 pm ET

And Sarah pledged her allegiance to Rush Limbaugh.

Doc   March 3rd, 2009 2:59 pm ET

Maybe she will just shoot him from a helicopter...then charge it to the State so she can get reimbursed.
Man, what a talented grifter she is...had she never accepted the VP slot she could've bilked Alaska for thousands over the next couple of years. Under the radar, she could've had per diem out the yang until 2010. She must be sorry for the exposure.

Ellie   March 3rd, 2009 2:59 pm ET

Poor Palin, still playing the sore loser eh?

Lee   March 3rd, 2009 2:58 pm ET

Why is a governor involved with trying to fire a single state trooper?

Palin should stop treating her office as a personal fiefdom where she can settle family scores and her sister's messy divorce disputes with her ex-husband.

The state should follow laws and procedures without inteference from Palin (or her husband and aides, who she used as a shield to purposely insulate herself from an ethics charge – She KNEW that it was wrong).

Esther in Fl   March 3rd, 2009 2:58 pm ET

How about Palin starts doing her job for "Alaska's benefit" instead of vying for 2012

chris24   March 3rd, 2009 2:57 pm ET

sincerity is not her strong point.

Dave in Houston   March 3rd, 2009 2:57 pm ET

I love how the picture is not of Kim Elton, who got a job and might want her 15 mintues of fame, but of the photogenic and fascinating Sarah P.

Snowing in Alaska   March 3rd, 2009 2:56 pm ET

Mr. Elton has done excellent work for many years as our senator, and we are very sorry to lose him on a local scale. Before this whole Troopergate nonsense, you would be hard pressed to find a single person who did not thoroughly respect and like Senator Elton. He is still the same personable, smart and clear thinking politician as he has always been, and President Obama and the Sec. of the Interior are extremely fortunate to have him in the fold.

If you hear bad things about Mr. Elton – you can count on the knowledge that you are listening to all the nasties that came out of the woodwork over Gov Palin worship and Troopergate. His life's work has been dedicated to making all of Alaska a better, brighter and more self sufficient state to call home. Mr Elton, I will miss you but I wish you the best in your new post! Alaska is still very lucky to have you on the job, even if we won't see you often as we are accustomed to.

Brian Crooks   March 3rd, 2009 2:56 pm ET

She makes it sound like he joined some sort of rebellion. "Pledged allegiance to Obama?" Get real, lady.

Charlie   March 3rd, 2009 2:56 pm ET

I guess this is how you get paid for services rendered in the world of OBAMA.

Debbie   March 3rd, 2009 2:55 pm ET

She sounds bitter. "Pledged his allegiance"?

PATC   March 3rd, 2009 2:54 pm ET

Can you say Chicago Blago/Obama style Pay to Play Politics. This is change we can believe in.

I can see Canada from my house!   March 3rd, 2009 2:54 pm ET

Just when the day could not get any better, here comes this little tidbit.

Did Sarah had to be medicated after that press release was issued?
You betcha!

PATC   March 3rd, 2009 2:53 pm ET

I think we need to investigate this Elton guy. A very weak and nobody can understand result finds Palin Abuses power and now this guy mysteriously ends up working for Obama? Do the math. CNN you like to do investigating reporting. Drop your editorial coverage and start looking into this.

Don   March 3rd, 2009 2:52 pm ET

hmmmmm...interesting..just a bit.

Simpliticus   March 3rd, 2009 2:52 pm ET

Thus begins the undermining of Palin's once high-ground of Republican interests. This is again a wise move on the part of the president to weaken Palin's position as she plays with problems with taxes and moral hazard within state politics. They fall hard when these fail!

Vegas Barbie the Paralegal for Obama   March 3rd, 2009 2:52 pm ET

Good for Sen. Elton. I never thought I'd hear myself say this, but I am almost glad that Romney won the straw poll at the CPAC Convention last weekend. While I believe Pres. Obama will handily beat any candidate the Repubs put up in 2012, the very thought that that woman could be within sniffing distance of the White House just scares me beyond belief.

Simon   March 3rd, 2009 2:52 pm ET

Can't this woman get ANYTHING right? He was NOT President Obama when Elton pledged his allegiance last summer. President Obama wasn't elected till November. The meaning of words is of total indifference to Palin. I thought she got some sort of very basic degree in journalism. How can that be, when she cannot write a grammatically correct sentence?

Sniffit   March 3rd, 2009 2:51 pm ET

Wow. Still can't let go of the "un-American" v. "real American" crap can she? I mean really..."pledged his allegiance to Obama?" Like anyone truly believes he doesn't put his country and his state before all else. Someone tape this bimbo's mouth shut and throw her in the Bering Strait.

Don From Philly   March 3rd, 2009 2:51 pm ET

I wonder if he paid his taxes

Lauren   March 3rd, 2009 2:51 pm ET

Let me gues, there will be over 300 replies from liberals slamming Sarah

Jean   March 3rd, 2009 2:50 pm ET

They could not find any wrong doing so they made some excuse that she didn't yell at her husband enough.

What a Joke!

Palin was cleared of any wrong doing by the Personnel Board.

Elton will fit right in with the scums in Obama's cabinet.

Dave C - NJ   March 3rd, 2009 2:50 pm ET

well he certainly "earned" that job. At least we know Obama keeps his word to pay people back.

andrew   March 3rd, 2009 2:48 pm ET

for all you crazy people who think sarah palin will ever be a prime time player you are sadly mistaken. she is the butt of jokes and will be for years

Mike Cairo, NY   March 3rd, 2009 2:47 pm ET

You'd think Obama would appoint someone as Director of Alaska affairs who has not proscecuted the sitting governor. Bad form, Barry.

Miles   March 3rd, 2009 2:46 pm ET

Brilliant reporting CNN.

Obama is wheeling and dealing with Russia, Iran, Nukes, Missle Defense, etc. and we get YET ANOTHER story on Sarah Palin.

AND NOT A SINGLE MENTION of Obama's communications with Russia.

Again, great work folks. Way to keep your eye on the ball.

Frank, Las Vegas   March 3rd, 2009 2:45 pm ET

Everyone gets to go to Washington except Palin. And people say life isn't fair. Palin needs to stay exactly where she is and out of the public's eye. Maybe while she's home in Alaska she can read some "books" and learn the English language!

Scott the Independent   March 3rd, 2009 2:45 pm ET

Yes and when he returns to Alaska he should run for Governor and take her job. Poetic justice.

cheryl brooks from cali   March 3rd, 2009 2:43 pm ET

And the Beat goes on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sarah forget it, you're through, it's over. By the time election time come again let's hope you're not in jail!!!!!!!!!!!

Bud   March 3rd, 2009 2:43 pm ET

So what IS the point of this story? Palin is corrupt, but still Governor and Elton has an opportunity to further his service to Alaska. Slow news day?

TT   March 3rd, 2009 2:42 pm ET

So What

Shirley in California   March 3rd, 2009 2:41 pm ET

Welcome Senator Elton. He represents the decent citizens in Alaska (which I and others were beginning to wonder about) and I bet he doesn't have a unwed teenage daughter at home with a baby. I'm sure palin wishes it were her. That's okay though-now she can spend plenty of time washing her dirty hair which she doesn't seem to do on a regular basis anymore since the RNC isn't paying for it. I'm sure Sen. Elton will do a fine job.

Are You Serious???   March 3rd, 2009 2:40 pm ET

That was a good neutral response by Gov. Palin. Whether she meant it or not is a different story.

MinnScott   March 3rd, 2009 2:40 pm ET

It sounds like Governor Palin, in her brief statement, has finally learned that sometimes saying less can be far more meaningful than running off at the mouth. I can only hope it's a trend.

Jimmy, AK   March 3rd, 2009 2:40 pm ET

Good. Kim was a disaster here in Alaska. A distraction. A liar, who accused Palin of the crap that she didn't even do. Were going to be able to get more work done without him.

her ugly soul is showing in this picture. not a good shot if i do say so. ugly is as ugly does. i sure hate to think of all that money she is hoping to make off her tell-all book that she claims to be so unfairly treated. i hope not one book sells. she deserves nothing for her ugly behavior of our president. sarah palin should be ashamed of the hate she rallied around for her own greedy cause.

Jacque Bauer   March 3rd, 2009 2:37 pm ET

Bi-partisanship? Ha, it is transparently obvious that Obama and his thug Emmanuel are waging war against the Republican Party. America sees you for who you really are, O'man!

kathy   March 3rd, 2009 2:37 pm ET

I'll be glad when i read on CNN that Palin has been dethroned. She did abuse her power and would have continued had she not been exposed becuz of her VP running attempt. Alaska needs proper governor and it shouldn't include Palin.

Eric   March 3rd, 2009 2:37 pm ET

Why is this article framed as if it's about Sarah Palin?

I know everyone there must be goint through Palin withdrawls which is why a story about her appears every other day.

Seriously, stop giving her news space – for the sake of us all.

Illinidiva   March 3rd, 2009 2:37 pm ET

For services rendered to the Obama campaign I guess.

KMAN   March 3rd, 2009 2:36 pm ET
