House Republicans warn of socialism under Obama

Bachmann sounded the socialism alarm on Thursday.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Some Republicans in Congress are continuing to warn that President Obama is intent on turning the United States into a socialist nation.

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann pressed the socialism argument on Thursday, telling a conservative radio show that the Obama administration is "completely socializing the American economy" with its mortgage relief proposals and bailouts of financial institutions.

"What we've seen them do in the last five weeks is nothing short of a great leap forward toward than finalizing a place of socialism in American economic life," Bachmann told radio host G. Gordon Liddy. "We have never seen this level of socialism in the history of our country, and I think the American people would be floored when they understand the dramatic steps that Obama has taken for our future."

Bachmann called for a "a growth future, a prosperity future, a freedom liberty future."

"Will we be a country that will go forward with liberty, freedom and prosperity, or will we be a country that's mired in Eastern European, Western European doldrums, where freedom is limited and taxation remains high?," she asked.

Bachmann wasn't the only House Republican to say as much on Thursday.

Tennessee Rep. Zach Wamp, who is also running for governor in his home state, told MSNBC that the president's health care proposals represent "a fast march toward socialism."

The GOP would not know Socialism if it bit them in the buttocks. Look at how ghetto they have become since Steele has taken over. Domestic Violence between Rush and Steele, the Governors and the Congress. Talk of Bling Bling and being off the hook. Nice white women saying things like "You Be The Man". What is wrong with you people. Just trashie.

In an e-mail to fellow RNC members obtained by The Hill, Dr. Ada Fisher, North Carolina's national committeewoman, said Steele is "eroding confidence" in the GOP and that members of his transition team should encourage him to step aside. Fisher added Steele's personal e-mail address to the e-mail.

It makes me physically ill to see what Obama and friends have in store–We can only hope he comes to his senses and stands up to Pelosi. If not, my vote will change in 2012

I agree 100% – we will all be look-alike robots, no rights, everybody equal whether we contribute to society or not, our wealth is going to be spread around, and no matter how hard you work or save, you will be no better off than those who don't.

Michele Bachman??? One of the better comedic Republicans – in the same league as those only taken seriously by the wing-nuts within the GOP. No one with a functioning brain can rationalize the logic of this most bizarre woman...

For all those who said President Bush failed, well, didn't America then failed? An if America has already failed, how then can President Obama succeed?

Republicans are just so irrelevant! The bailouts started with Bush.
And what do you think Social Security is? This is just all about the rich not wanting to pay their fair share of anything including taxes. These money-grubbers got us in this mess in the first place.

Obama needs to be reminded that he has no mandate to do what he's attempting.

Republicans need to dig their heels in and not give in an inch. So in 2010 when 2 years of this riduclous strategy fails, they can take the Congress back.

    Signed

nevermind Alaska's permanent fund, the most socialist program in the country. Nevermind Denmark's example as rhe happiest place on earth (socialist) Nevermind that the life expectancy of the average US citizen is on the decline compared to socialist countries.

Just enjoy your low wage, high payroll taxes, shut up and take it like a good sheep. N evermind the 20% increase in heath insurance costs...

Republicans do more name-calling than elementary school students. So many critics with no alternatives.

What's Bachmann's solution???? I'm sure she doesn't have one. They just want to label President Obama in a negative manner because they are scared of how much he is doing so fast. They are scared that his policies will work. And they will work. Once they do, Bachmann and the other Republican whiners will look like idiots.

Lets be wild and say they are right. In the next election we would be right back to our old ways. A preseident cannot make the nation Socialist, to do so the constitution would have to be changed.

Seriously, when are these politicians and the American citizens in general going to learn that socialism is not a bad thing. It is actually a good thing. Lets just naively look at the two terms: Capitalism and Socialism (even though we all should understand that our country is a mix of the two but fundamentally capitalist). Capital-ism. A system revolved around capital, money. Capitalism only cares about the flow of money. Not the quality of life for humans or anything like that. Capitalism only cares about humans as far as how much they can work and spend to produce more capital for the system. On the other hand, Social-ism. A system for the society and the people within in it. Socialism is all about the people. Attempting to make sure all the people in society have the basic needs and live a healthy life. Now, we as people, that live in a society should want the system that cares about 'people' not 'money'. America and many in the rest of the world need to seriously wake up.
