President names three new Treasury officials

(CNN) - Following weeks of congressional grumbling over the slow pace of staffing at the Treasury Department, the White House announced three new senior department officials Sunday.

President Obama has tapped three counselors to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner to serve as assistant secretaries: lawyer David Cohen to address terrorist financing, Princeton Univerity professor and labor economist Alan Krueger for economic policy, and former Barclays Capital and Lehman Brother executive Kim Wallace for legislative affairs.

"With the leadership of these accomplished individuals and our whole economic team, I am absolutely confident that we will turn around this economy and seize this opportunity to secure a more prosperous future," the president said in a statement.

wow lot-a hate mongers on here today. I gotta wonder who these people are. They have no constructive ideas but just want to bring everyone down. I watched Hugely last night and he had a fellow on that stated Republicans would rather see their country ruined than see Their opponents succeed. By the posts here it would appear to be true. Is this the American way? Country first or is it party and self interest first? Leave it to the conservatives they are always a day late and a dollar short. Look at their mascot RUSH LIMBRAIN. Does anyone realize that Rush is only one letter away from being a Bush. Just joking but there are some similarities there.

Had IT.......... I thought that I was the only one that felt this way. No wonder the folks in Congress can't come together to do something to deal with the problems that our country faces.............. they reflect the thoughts, feelings and words of the people that they represent. And this is true for both sides of the aisle. What ever happened to the UNITED States of America. I'm so sick of this us against them mentality. I'm also sick of the media...... again both sides. If you don't have something constructive to bring to the nation, please just shut up.

Am suprised by some comments i have read here. I think many republicans have lost their bearings. Seriously! Mr Obama has been in office for less than two months and some slow thinking individuals think by now he should have cleaned the mess a republic president who happens to be called bush left. Be sensible. Some think the continuing fall in the stock market is due to fact that wall street does not like mr Obama. Hey, mr Obama does not have to please the Wall or floor street.
