DNC gets 'overwhelming response' to Limbaugh billboard proposal

Conservative radio show host Rush Limbaugh received criticism from the DNC for his remarks that he hopes Obama fails.
Conservative radio show host Rush Limbaugh received criticism from the DNC for his remarks that he hopes Obama fails.

(CNN) – Citing an “overwhelming response” of tens of thousands of replies, the Democratic National Committee has narrowed down its top five messages from supporters to Rush Limbaugh.

With responses like, “We can fix America, just don’t Rush it,” the DNC is asking its online backers to vote for their favorite submission. The winning slogan will be placed on a billboard in Limbaugh’s hometown of West Palm Beach, Florida where the organization says he “can’t miss it.”

The responses purportedly poured in after the DNC sent an e-mail to its supporters last week urging Democrats to “talk back” to a right-wing radio personality.

“It's up to you to let Rush know that Americans reject his desire to see President Obama - and our country – fail,” DNC Executive Director Jen O’Malley Dillon wrote in the latest e-mail.

The DNC has not announced when it plans to put up the billboard.

The economy is crumbling... and the DNC's big push is to excoriate a private US Citizen??

SERIOUSLY folks... what would have been the reaction if "W" would have bought a billboard in Berkley mocking Cindy Sheehan??

If people can't see this for what it really is – a huge distration while Obama & Dems ram through their Euro-Socialism...then you're seriously blind, deaf, and/or dumb!

Why does Limbaugh want to share his own lot in life with Obama? We know that misery loves company, so it seems that failure too desires to pal around with someone. I can hear Limbaugh's own self-fulfilling mantra,"Fail, baby, fail; fail, baby, fail...."

Although it gives him more attention than his bloated personality deserves, it should say no more than "You s#ck you fat drug addict" Not on the topic but relevant nonetheless

Okay, I got one. And I believe that this cliche will sum up how we all feel and send a clear message to the RNC (Rush's Natonal Committee) in five simple words

Failure Is NOT an Option. :|

Again, doesn't the DNC have alot more important things to worry, work on?

Besides anyone ever hear of Freedom of Speech? If you don't want to hear Rush change the dial.

I want Obama to fail too. Socialism has ruined every country it’s tried in. Taking money from people who earned it and giving it to people who did not is stealing.

What amazes me about this is that Obama offered the Republicans a golden opportunity to get back in the game and become relevant again. Unfortunately they misread this opportunity and went back to their dirt Rove tactics.

On top of that, they allowed Rush to become their spokesperson! They will never get the moderates and independent voters that their party needs if they continue to go along this route. Thry must start rejecting extremists such as Palin, Ann Coulter, Limbaugh and others of their ilk.

Seems like the future lies with new blood such as Meghan McCain, who has the guts and the wisdom to "call it like it is". Too many Taliban fundamentalist extremists have high-jacked the Republican party, and now they are stuck with them, and are controlled by them. Too bad.

The DNC can attempt to marginalize Rush, but he can't be diminished.
He is a true American Icon. Any intelligent person can filter Rush for themselves, and see what he is all about. He is amazing and no one can deny that. The DNC has really lost it this time, if they dare to think that they can 'crush Rush"... they are delusional and basically dumber than dirt.

Hey, if they've got the money and the free time, why not? Until a GOP elected official shoots Rush down, then let the games continue.

This is pretty grade school by the DNC. Our politicians need to show a bit more professionalism in office and look forward to fix our problems, not point fingers and the likes of a third grade hissy fit.

What is the Democrat's fascination with Rush Limbaugh? He's not elected to office, he is a guy on the radio for goodness sakes! When have Republicans ever ran an organized campaign to smear an entertainer that involved the President on down?

Since Bush is no longer as convenient of a scapegoat as he once was, they have to create a new boogeyman. It's lame.

How many comments will liberals post about him being fat and/or drug addicted? It's always so original and cutting edge, plus it really is a clever way to make their point that they disagree with his opinions.

I think the guy is a loudmouth, and deliberately tries to be controversial, but he never actually said he wants the country to fail.

Thats just a lie.Plain and simple.

I still see the democrats are trying to shift the focus away from the economy and instead focus people attention on some radio talk show host.

    Pathetic
