DNC gets 'overwhelming response' to Limbaugh billboard proposal

Conservative radio show host Rush Limbaugh received criticism from the DNC for his remarks that he hopes Obama fails.

Conservative radio show host Rush Limbaugh received criticism from the DNC for his remarks that he hopes Obama fails.

(CNN) – Citing an “overwhelming response” of tens of thousands of replies, the Democratic National Committee has narrowed down its top five messages from supporters to Rush Limbaugh.

With responses like, “We can fix America, just don’t Rush it,” the DNC is asking its online backers to vote for their favorite submission. The winning slogan will be placed on a billboard in Limbaugh’s hometown of West Palm Beach, Florida where the organization says he “can’t miss it.”

The responses purportedly poured in after the DNC sent an e-mail to its supporters last week urging Democrats to “talk back” to a right-wing radio personality.

“It's up to you to let Rush know that Americans reject his desire to see President Obama - and our country – fail,” DNC Executive Director Jen O’Malley Dillon wrote in the latest e-mail.

The DNC has not announced when it plans to put up the billboard.

Seriously?! This is the kind of trash that the DNC is wasting money on? They should consider getting a life and funneling their money into helping improve the current state of the economy. How about taking the money that they will be using for this and donating it to program that seeks to assist victims of lay offs, or elderly patients who can't afford to eat let alone pay for their prescriptions. How juvenile and classless of the DNC.

i find it absolutely DISGUSTING that Obama is willing to negotiate with the effing TALIBAN, but people who believe in the "politics of Rush" have no seat at the Obama table.

Obama, go back to Chicago with the rest of the scum bags.

Please DNC, surely there are other important issues. This stunt is completely childish. How much $ will be wasted on this bill board to taunt one person, who lets face it is too rich to care? How about donating the money to charity where it will do some good. Or if you most do slogans put people to work printing bumber stickers, anything Obama sells, and use that money for education. Democrats are better than this.

Honestly, if anyone is fixated on Rush, it appears to be Liberals. They seem to know more about him than their Conservative counterparts.

And no doubt the Dems in congress will create a new governmental agency employing thousands of people to make sure it's properly maintained.

Seems to me the DNC would have much better things to spend their money on than petty billboard ads! Why don't they put it towards the deficit their party is mounting? Why are they wasting our time/money fighting someone who is not an elected official and who, the last time I looked, is free to speak his mind. You don't like him, don't listen to him...what's next? An executive order banning him and those like-minded thinker from speaking in public? Oh, I forgot, you're already trying that, aren't you?

Stop it. The Dems are giving this man free advertising and his ratings are going up with every negative, hateful statement out of this anal cavity's mouth.

    Kudos to the DNC!

Everyone knows that the only way to shut down a bully is to stand up to him. And that's all Rush is – a bloated, drug-addled, windbag bully who would greatly benefit from intensive psychotherapy (although I doubt he's got the guts to take an honest look at himself and the motivations behind his hate-filled ranting).

The media has a responsibility to the non-Rush public, the people who put country before politics, partisanship, and policies that don't serve the United States in this time of crisis created by the Republicans.

Limbaugh did not qualify his comment desiring to see President Obama fail. The statement was, "I want the president to fail." The bit about the president's liberal programs was added after the party got a little nervous. When George W. Bush took office there was a government surplus. Bush and Cheney spent it all on the war begat by lies. Obama inherited the disasters left by the Republicans who have, since the days of Reagan, been the party of steal from the poor and give it to the rich.

President Obama is the duly elected leader of this country. It wasn't handed to him by a few people in the Supreme Court. The emotion that flowed the night of the election and Inauguration Day was engendered by the belief that we the people are all in this together and as such we must support the man who has the staggering burden of moving the country beyond "the cliff".

This is childish. Come on Democrats, you're in prime position to truly change the country here, don't ruin it with this immature attacks.

Both parties are (or should be) better than this.

Rush Limbaugh is a card-carrying member of the Neocon Fascist movement which has destroyed the Republican party. These people stand in stark contrast to true Republicans. The only reason they are allowed in the ranks is that without them, Republicans would hold no seats in government.

Unfortunately, approximately 27% of the nation hates America, and wants the nation to fail (the Neocons). This is, of course, not acceptable to the 73%, but until some of that 27% obtains an IQ above 50, we're stuck with them.

Doesn't the DNC have anything better to do? The guy doesn't make policy; doesn't run for political office; doesn't hang out in Washington; is not on any PAC that I know of; he's just a radio personality that expresses his opinion, which, based on his ratings, many, many people agree with. Goes to show where the DNC priorities are.

Rush has a problem with the idea that other people can have ideas that work. If Rush understood that there is more than one way to solve a problem other than his way, he'd be a lot better off.

With the economy in shambles, two wars, etc. etc....

Is this all the DNC has to do with their time?

It was funny for about two days. Now it's stupid. Let it go.

Rush, and the approximately 25% of Americans who make up the Anti-American Neocon Fascist insurgency, desperately want America to fail, and to see the dream of their Nazi forefathers realized. Read the histories of key Neocons for the truth of this insidious, terrorist organization, who have infiltrated government, industry, and media.

Why are we even giving Rush any thoughts,,,,,,,this country is in dire straights and ALL of OUR attention needs to be focused on positive things we can do to help ourselves out of the ECONOMIC CRISIS, not on some idiot who does nothing but spread hate and discontent.
