DNC gets 'overwhelming response' to Limbaugh billboard proposal

Conservative radio show host Rush Limbaugh received criticism from the DNC for his remarks that he hopes Obama fails.
Conservative radio show host Rush Limbaugh received criticism from the DNC for his remarks that he hopes Obama fails.

(CNN) – Citing an “overwhelming response” of tens of thousands of replies, the Democratic National Committee has narrowed down its top five messages from supporters to Rush Limbaugh.

With responses like, “We can fix America, just don’t Rush it,” the DNC is asking its online backers to vote for their favorite submission. The winning slogan will be placed on a billboard in Limbaugh’s hometown of West Palm Beach, Florida where the organization says he “can’t miss it.”

The responses purportedly poured in after the DNC sent an e-mail to its supporters last week urging Democrats to “talk back” to a right-wing radio personality.

“It's up to you to let Rush know that Americans reject his desire to see President Obama - and our country – fail,” DNC Executive Director Jen O’Malley Dillon wrote in the latest e-mail.

The DNC has not announced when it plans to put up the billboard.

The DNC should put up a sign that reads:

On behalf of the DNC, we apologize for the Obama administrations economic and foreign policy. Please don't hold it against us.

I will submit cash to this cause. I want that nutjob silenced. How can Christians (republicans) call Rev. Wright divisive and hateful. Bunch of hypocrites. At least The Great Reverand isn't running anything, and knew how to bow out if his words were offensive. But nooooo, the Repulicans want Rush out front. Yes he is the leader of their party. Because leaders don't apologize to idiots like Steele did to Rush. Leaders accept the apology from people like Rush Dumbo.. Republicans are just plain silly.

Iraq is fragile, Afganastan is going down fast, Gaza wants money, the US economy is not recovering, GM is near bankruptcy, China is harassing US navy ships, North Korea threatens war...and these guys want to talk about Rush. Keep the faith, suckers, the end of the rainbow is in sight.

what are we in? High School?

Seriously, you're raising money for a billboard???

People are out of jobs, the financial system is out of hand, and you guys REALLY care what Rush Slimeball has to say?

Democrats need to be more mature, and stop playing these silly games.

You want to fix things? STAY FOCUSED ON THE TASK AT HAND!

I keep thinking of the old song 'Fools "Rush" In'....where angels fear to tread.....who is paying the ole "oxyie boy" anyway that kind of money, speaking of fools.

Its good to know that he has to pay more taxes to help the downtrodden. After all the GOP put them there.

He's packing alot of weight, wonder how his heart is, but then again, maybe that 'heart' is just a mechanical pump to keep him going. Or the "oxyie" keeps him going.

All of this GOP drama and the outing of this ugly revelation that Rush does represent the (black) heart and soul of the Republican party is sort of like a cyst coming to a head. I don't mean to gross anyone out, but, the process is similar. Putting a slogan on a billboard, however, might irritate too many people. Hopefully, when this painful process is complete the Republican party will have been drained from our political realm. No such luck? Well then, maybe the cream of the Republican party like Snowe, Collins and Specter will move to prominence and the special-interest beholding Boehmer, McConnell, Cantor crowd will be diminished.

Whatever. People said throughout Bush's 8 years that they wanted him to fail. Now 1 moron says he wants Obama's policies to fail, and this big stink is made.

There are bigger problems in this country then dealing with Rush Limbaugh.

I'm sure glad that the Democrats have settled all of America's problems. I'm glad we have affordable health care, peace in the middle east, and economic recovery.

Since they've done such a good job, I think they deserve the break to play with billboards and single out one American.

This is such a joke. I'm not even a Limbaugh fan, and I'm amazed at all the free advertising they are giving him. He probably loves it. He will probably get a contract next time worth double what he makes now.

    Way to go, you dimwits.

The DNC reminds me of a schoolyard bully. Grow up and get on with the business you are elected to do, and quit wasting money on such immature things. And people say Republicans are out of touch...

Where were the signs back when all you whiners were saying how you hoped Bush failed? How you hoped the war failed? What's the matter? Your puppet gets into the office and you can't take what you once gave out? Only difference is your rants were based on half-cocked lies. You are basing this whole campaign off of a misquote.

And if the last 50 days are any indication, Obama failing would probably be one of the best things for America.

Just further proof of show me a lib and I'll show you a whiner who thinks the rules should be made up as THEY go allow.

Run along now whiners. Run back to mommy Pelosi and daddy Barack and tell them what mean people us REAL AMERICANS are.

If Rush is no big deal, why are they spending money on a "campaign" against him? I'm guessing because he is asking questions that the dems don't want to answer.
