DNC gets 'overwhelming response' to Limbaugh billboard proposal

Conservative radio show host Rush Limbaugh received criticism from the DNC for his remarks that he hopes Obama fails.
Conservative radio show host Rush Limbaugh received criticism from the DNC for his remarks that he hopes Obama fails.

(CNN) – Citing an “overwhelming response” of tens of thousands of replies, the Democratic National Committee has narrowed down its top five messages from supporters to Rush Limbaugh.

With responses like, “We can fix America, just don’t Rush it,” the DNC is asking its online backers to vote for their favorite submission. The winning slogan will be placed on a billboard in Limbaugh’s hometown of West Palm Beach, Florida where the organization says he “can’t miss it.”

The responses purportedly poured in after the DNC sent an e-mail to its supporters last week urging Democrats to “talk back” to a right-wing radio personality.

“It's up to you to let Rush know that Americans reject his desire to see President Obama - and our country – fail,” DNC Executive Director Jen O’Malley Dillon wrote in the latest e-mail.

The DNC has not announced when it plans to put up the billboard.

Boss Hog is just stupid enough to think his ranting and raving is helping his cause, when he's being played like a fiddle!

I love it – Obama, once again, is one step ahead.

Not exactly hard to stay ahead of the fat blowhard.

WE THE PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE THE BASIC REPRESENTATION
THAT WE ARE ENTITILED TO. WE HAVE NO SAY IN THE PROCESS.
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU WROTE AN E-MAIL TO YOUR
SENATOR OR REP. AND RECEIVED ANYTHING BUT AN ANSWER
THAT SAID ONLY HOW THEY VOTED,WITHOUT ASKING US WHAT
WE WANTED. WE PUT THEM IN OFFICE TO FURTHER OUR NEEDS-BUT WE GET WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT TO THEIR OWN
POLITICAL FUTURES. SEEMS TO BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THAT EQUATION. OUR VOTE IS WORTH NOTHING WITHOUT REAL
    SUPPORT IN HOW THEY VOTE.

Hahaha, Republicans are absolutely seething at this! Take their party, which is in complete confusion and hopefully on the downturn; add in the fact that our [Democratic] president is STILL scoring highly in the polls, better than our past few leaders; and finally, the "god" of the Republican party, Mr. Rush Limbaugh, is really looking stupid at the expense of all Republicans. As goes Rush, so goes the party. But no, you guys keep on this path of getting in the way and having temper tantrums when you don't get what you want...it might work.

The more the media pays attention to this idiot, it only gives him more fuel for his fire. Maybe if he's ignored, he might just shut up and go away. One could only hope.

Republican Rush Limbaugh, Chairman of the Republican party, has got to be the worlds perfect Idiot. Not only has he excelled in making the Democrats stronger, he has almost made the Republican Party extinct.

Anyone that hopes the President of our United States of America is a failure. That person has fail himself and now wants others to fall too. This Rush Limbaugh is a joke... The bottom lines is that; there are alot of people who are really jealous of President Obama. Our President is a very smart and intelligent man. He has a heart and he cares about the people of this country. Let me leave Limbaugh and all those other people who wish failure on the President...Here we go. Just remember when people (who have faith) join together in prayer for "OUR" President; God is therefore in control and there is nothing Limbaugh, Republicans and anyone else who wish bad things on the President will not happen. President Obama has a vision and God will give him what he needs, when he needs it and time will be the essence of everything. So wake up; you people because President Obama is in the hands of Our Lord. He will be successful. And I wish no harm or bad things to happen to Limbaugh; he will get over it. President Obama is his President too.

Leave Rush alone! He's the Democratic Party's greatest ally! Our secret weapon! As long as he is the face of the Republican Party, we will never, ever lose another election!

It's amazing how the Republican Party has made Rush Limbaugh into almost a "God-like" figure for them all to idolize. Just amazing!

But he doesn't wants to see the country fails say his supporters... only Obama's 'SOCILIST IDEAS', which are the ones that are being used to get the country out of the Recession, to fail.
    I. E. he doesn't wants that the recession ends with Obama's ideas, he doesn't wants that Obama's term it's a success... is he really fine with the idea of the recession becoming a DEPRESSION?

Why is the DNC wasting time and money over this fat, lying, drug-addicted asshat? Nobody with half-a-brain cares what Rushbo has to say.

Don't the Dems have better ways to spend their money?

This is being divisive and playing directly into Limbaughs hands. This kind of lowbrow billboard tactic is just what he wants. Stop giving him attention

    March 10, 2009 03:10 pm at 3:10 pm |
  22. Geez

Aw, geez, guys, don't do this! Rush will love the attention and point to the billboard with pride, saying he's got the DNC 'scared' and 'on the run' with his talk.

You don't feed trolls; you ignore them, and they go away. How is this different than writing "You suck" on somebody's junior-high locker? I mean...come on. Don't you have anything else to spend that money on?

What part of Rush's speech didn't you liberals understand?
Rush's exact words was" I want this President to fail if that means his POLICIES fail." It is Obama's POLICY Rush wants to fail. Why do you just hear what you want and disregard the rest? If Rush is so wrong send Obama to debate him on the policies. I'm sure he has time while he's running around the country still campaigning. If you go back a year ago the democrats voted in a poll and 51% voted that they hope President Bush fails. So what's the difference?

My fellow Democrats, this is just stupid - all this is doing is bringing Limbaugh more and more attention. And it's not like this is going to cause even a handful of GOPers to defect because of it. How about saving the brain cells and time on the real problems facing our country.

Republicans should put up a billboard near the democrats that while we were fighting a war in Iraq, over 50 percent of democrats wanted President Bush to fail. Pales in comparison to a part of a quote by Rush.
