DNC gets 'overwhelming response' to Limbaugh billboard proposal

Conservative radio show host Rush Limbaugh received criticism from the DNC for his remarks that he hopes Obama fails.
Conservative radio show host Rush Limbaugh received criticism from the DNC for his remarks that he hopes Obama fails.

(CNN) – Citing an “overwhelming response” of tens of thousands of replies, the Democratic National Committee has narrowed down its top five messages from supporters to Rush Limbaugh.

With responses like, “We can fix America, just don’t Rush it,” the DNC is asking its online backers to vote for their favorite submission. The winning slogan will be placed on a billboard in Limbaugh’s hometown of West Palm Beach, Florida where the organization says he “can’t miss it.”

The responses purportedly poured in after the DNC sent an e-mail to its supporters last week urging Democrats to “talk back” to a right-wing radio personality.

“It's up to you to let Rush know that Americans reject his desire to see President Obama - and our country – fail,” DNC Executive Director Jen O’Malley Dillon wrote in the latest e-mail.

The DNC has not announced when it plans to put up the billboard.

As a Democrat I am really starting to wonder what on earth has happened to our party.

Why are they wasting our hard earned dollars on such childish pranks.

We don't care about Rush........let him slide away and be forgotten. The more they talk about him the higher his ratings get.

They should be using that money to help the people in Katrina, Galveston, unemployed, etc.

Stop the childish games and grow up before you start to lose members just like the RNC.

I received that email last week and again this morning.
I responde back to them that I thought it was poisonous, pointless and quite frankly infantile.
This kind of garbage is not the change that I voted for. I trust President Obama to stick to his word and he will continue to receive my support.
However the fools in the DNC running this smear will receive none.
When mid term elections come around, I am more likely to get on board with a 3rd party if the likes of Pelosi, Cantor, Reid , Boehner and both parties do not fix their poisonous ways.

Get em' DNC! This is payback for all the times the GOP tried to use distracting politics to confuse and fool the American people they were elected to serve, not exploit.

Moving on................Let's solve the crisis in America. People are hungry and living in tent cities. Obviously Rush and the Repugs who want to make sure the 2010 elections go their way don't give a rat's tail about people.

Let us turn our country around. Forget about Rush!

Rush Limbaugh is the only man on the planet who can blow smoke up his own -! He doesn't deserve any more of the limelight that he craves so much!

This bulletin board idea is childess. What are you a bunch little kids admitting you are scared of the big bad wolf Limbaugh? He wins every time you do something like this. If you believe he is wrong then invest your time in actions improving our situation not with bitter in fighting. In our culture words are becoming worthless. Let's give Carville and Rahm something positve to talk about. All you've done is diminish your credibility with these pious actions. I'm so dissappointed with our politicans on both sides. Approval rating for both parties in congress is zero to tenth power.

More and more Americans are tuning into Rush to see what all the hoopla is about. Keep it up Dems; you're making him bigger than life, especially sitting on top of a billboard.

We conservatives won't have to wait long for Obama and his liberal Dems to screw up the economy and make it worse. And America won't be able to blame Rush or us.

  12. A tired American

I've seen the final five and placed my vote. All of them are namby-pamby. Rush needs to be told in no uncertain terms what the majority of Americans think of him. However, I suppose someone has to be the responsible party, and we know it won't be Lim"barf".

Yeah that's right. Mine was "Agree with Linbaugh, it is easier than thinking"

I didn't think that my other one would fit on a billboard. Plus we have to maintain standards.

I am with Rush in that I want Obama's policies to fail. I do not want our country headed towards that direction. Why can't the DNC see that? It was they who wanted President Bush to fail but supported the troops. The double standard in America is ridiculous.

As long as Rush Limbaugh is the Republican Spokesman I look for the Democratic party to flourish.

Why are we (Proud Democrats) wasting our time and money on this? We are making it seem as though Rush Limbaugh is relevant. He's not. This billboard will just boost his enormous fathead ego.

  18. Right wing talking point

Rush is a traitor and should be treated as such. But spending money taunting him is sophomoric. Money is best spent getting the proper message out to people, not throwing gas on a smoldering fire. Rush is digging himself into a hole, best to just stand back and watch him do it.

@ Jerry.........so the Dems will get EIGHT years or just FOUR years to screw things up worse than the last Bush administration?

This is nothing but silliness. Who cares about Rush? For that matter, who cares about the Democrats? Don't they have bigger problems than some media hack? But then, I guess if you don't know what you're doing, subterfuge is a wonderful thing.

You could put the billboard in his front yard and he wouldn't even see it.

Go ahead DNC – put up a billboard ridiculing a non-elected citizen because he disagrees with the President.

We'll see hundreds of billboards popping up all over the country asking WHY the DNC hates free speech?

Or maybe we'll see Obama's face with the tagline "Enough Monkey Business – solve American problems!!"
