can you address why president obama's picture is still not up in federal goverment buildings? We don't want to say it's a race thing but what's really going on? Thank you, deborah

Sandra in SC   March 10th, 2009 10:44 pm ET

A+++
President Obama has been "Superman" in his first 50 days. He has accomplished more in 50 days than any president in their first 50.

Whiskey   March 10th, 2009 10:43 pm ET

Let's not have a short memory on how we got here.

Jeff H   March 10th, 2009 10:37 pm ET

President Obama is pushing hard to make changes to a government that unfortunately has grown very polarized at a critical time in history when we need everyone "pulling on the oars" in unison. I would give the President high marks for trying to get our country back on its feet quickly. Have there been mistakes, sure, but he has admitted them and his team is working to get America rolling again.

Republicans like Senator Shelby need to come out of the ether and realize we are in a crisis in this country and work with the incumbents. Thxs for listening.

Jan Illinois   March 10th, 2009 10:31 pm ET

It is a hell hole now, it was a hell hole when we arrived and it will be a hell hole when we depart . Keep your promise Mr. President, many more than enough of our bravest and best have fallen there, and to what gain? Certainly nothing worth the breath of one of our own.

rorsharch   March 10th, 2009 10:30 pm ET

hhhmmmmrrrpphh…..
Again, seems like the one elected is able to do nothing but campaign. Then they have the gall to look into the faces of the war broken and say "pay us" and we will say to them "no".

John from California   March 10th, 2009 10:25 pm ET

Well I give President Obama a grade of A++ since he has accomplished more in 50 days than the last president did in eight years.

People need to get real with their expectations after all, this president was handed a bankrupt country fighting a war of choice in Iraq.

30m-Democrat-voted Clinton then McCain   March 10th, 2009 10:22 pm ET

I give him an F for relying to heavily on that teleprompter.

Fine Arts teachers don't teach to the test, we teach our subject matter AND we relate it to every other subject in the curriculum. Core Enrichment class are important! We teach the children so many things that they cannot get from fundamentals. We teach them to be creative, to use their brains in different ways.

Texas Teacher   March 10th, 2009 10:18 pm ET

All over this country there are surveys proving that the most successful people in this country have a strong Fine Arts background! Fine Arts Matter... Fine Arts teach our children to think beyond the test! And that is what they need. We need to stop testing our children all year long and start TEACHING them! Then we can test them on the subject matter, and we can quickly tell if our children are learning or not!

I'm depressed with all the talk of paying educators by performance. Where does that leave the Fine Arts Core Enrichment teachers? We work hard, we teach from a multicultural perspective, we relate our subject matter to every Core Fundamental subject. We work hard and get VERY little credit for it in the performance pay arena!

I think Gates said it all when he said he is smarter and actually read the intelligence briefings every single day, even on Sunday!

He has done more in 50 days that we have seen in the last eight years. I believe Health Care and Education will help build the economy.

God Bless America!

A+++++++++++++.

Simmy   March 10th, 2009 10:05 pm ET

The US should have called it a victory when Sadam Hussein's regime was toppled. It has become a mild Viet Nam, and needs to be ended, regardless of the uprisings. There will never be peace, nor a democracy in Iraq. God bless our wonderful men and women who have sacrificed, (some with their lives) for "their" noble cause. They've obeyed the command to do battle. It's now time to tell them; 'come home. You've fought a good fight. It's time for the Iraqis to take their country back, come what may.'

Rob from Pa   March 10th, 2009 9:49 pm ET

C+
He gets the plus because he talks a good game. But yet he has done nothing that he promisced to do. His latest was not speaking out and getting thi sportk laden spending bill killed.

Capt. SNarKy   March 10th, 2009 9:46 pm ET

I'll give him an "A" for ambition.

A "C" for originality.

And a "D-" for honesty and transparency.

Eric   March 10th, 2009 9:46 pm ET

F = Failure. The worst President in the history of our nation has practically destroyed our economy for generations. The market has been tanking since he became the DNC nominee.

Michael   March 10th, 2009 9:38 pm ET

President Obama and his administration is doing a good job.Mr. Bush and the Republicans got this nation in a mess. And I have faith in God and President Barack Obama to get us out of this mess.

Daniel, Atlanta, GA, ex-republican   March 10th, 2009 9:31 pm ET

President Obama gets an A+++++++++++++++++ for the great job! Bush was just too stupid and drunk!

Tulsa L   March 10th, 2009 9:31 pm ET

He is doing great , at least he has the guts to try and do something, even if it is extraordinary measures........the same old crap doesn't work any more...........

Little too late????   March 10th, 2009 9:30 pm ET

We are in debt for $10 Trillion, spending is out of control.
We sold our children's children down the river.
Unemployment is over 8%.
Foreclosures are still skyrocketing.
Home values are still plummeting.
The economy cannot survive Mr Obama 'making statements'
The party that won now holds the checkbook...and are writing until the ink and paper is gone.

...but you know what?? BO is doing a great job in keeping those promises and being bipartisian!! Socialism is within his reach!

And the DemacRATS are cheering BO is doing better than GWB did at day 50??? BO is at 61%, GWB was at 58%...statistical dead heat with the poll's margin of error at +/-3%.

'RATS...time to make a decision. Is BO DOING AS GOOD as GWB did??? Or is BO DOING AS BAD AS GWB did??? The choice is yours. It's like 'what is heavier, a ton of feathers or a ton of lead'???

Ron Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin   March 10th, 2009 9:30 pm ET

Crime has gone off the scale in America. All you have to do is read the papers and you will see.Not only do we need better education and better teachers that get involved and care about there students, but we must hire more police officers. And more involvment to whats happening on the streets. This will create more jobs and better education and safer streets. We must demand this now to help save our country from complete catastrophe

Dominic   March 10th, 2009 9:30 pm ET

First 50 days? So far I have a good idea of the way President Obama would like to take this country. That is why I voted for him. A's in all the columns.

TKW-New Mexico   March 10th, 2009 9:26 pm ET

I think he's doing a great job. Everyone might not like his policies but at least he is trying to do his best to get America on track again. I don't agree with all of his policies but I'm glad he is taking initiative.

See the AOL poll today----   March 10th, 2009 9:22 pm ET

49% say Obama's performance has been poor. Only 25% say it has been excellent. Obama's support is trending "DOWN" and Limbaugh shall get his wish.

Fabian Blache, Baton Rouge, LA   March 10th, 2009 9:22 pm ET

President Obama is going a fine job. Thank you Mr. President.

Connie, MI   March 10th, 2009 9:20 pm ET

A++++++++ Baby. He's a great president and smart.

And let me say one more thing. We've already been through he$$ wih George W. Bush, so we're used to the fire. We plan to walk through the fire and back with Barack. Yes we will !!!

GoOBAMA!   March 10th, 2009 9:18 pm ET

President Obama is doing better than anyone could have EVER expected or hoped for from ANY Presidential Leader EVER! He IS OUR President of the People! Thank God! Not one moment too soon! It feels utmost refreshing to have a President that I can say that I truly honor and respect in my lifetime... I never thought there would ever be such a time in America! Thank YOU for each and every vote America! If you are not registered to vote, do it TODAY! It's easy!

Obama '12!

louann couch   March 10th, 2009 9:15 pm ET

When are we going to quit blaming teachers? If teachers are great give them a bonus, but weeding out bad teachers? Give me a break! How 'bout getting parents to quit thinking about suing schools when little Johnny misbehaves and start backing up these poor human beings who are trying to bring up decent citizens? I'm so sick of it!

Ellie   March 10th, 2009 9:12 pm ET

I give him an A base on the fact he hit the ground running and has proven that he's able to "multi-tasks" and stay cool, calm and collected through all the GOP Hater bashing that's been going on since day one.

President Obama has proven that he can "rise" above these foolish clown and I have to respect that in a President. You can't let others, especially those who want you to FAIL so they can save their own faces because they've SCREWED up royally for 8 years, so they want to have someone else to blame.

Kyu Reisch, Radcliff, Kentucky   March 10th, 2009 9:12 pm ET

What do you, Obama supporters expect?
I am not surprised.

Paul from Kissimmee   March 10th, 2009 9:10 pm ET

My opinion of his first 50 days? Everytime he opens his mouth, the economy gets worse. He's trying to sell socialism and using this economy to do it. Too many people are too blind to see it.

ib   March 10th, 2009 9:09 pm ET

I rate Obama a big Z he doesn't deserve an F as he heads this country toward socialism. By the way I do know what the word means. I thought Bush was a bad very bad president but Bush can't hold up to this one. The only people who think he is doing a good job are the one sided poll takers and liberals.

Bernie   March 10th, 2009 9:08 pm ET

I agree with this idea. There are a lot of crappy teachers out there; and there's no reason the teacher that props a book up and sleeps during each class should be making as much as the imaginative teacher that actually cares about students' performance.

Death of America by Obama   March 10th, 2009 9:06 pm ET

Bobby B.   March 10th, 2009 9:01 pm ET

Obama is a huge dissapointment... What change..earmarks, pork and big government spending. What a liar .

Marge   March 10th, 2009 9:00 pm ET

Forget about obama's grade....we should give the republicans in congress a big fat zero.

The media and CNN try to create a negative atmosphere around president Obama. But the people still trust love and respect what he's trying to do.Here's one for you Media CNN, Do what the people are doing give him a chance if he blows it pile on. And if he don't give him the praise he deserves.HOW ABOUT IT!

Lee in Oregon   March 10th, 2009 8:50 pm ET

How is President Obama doing so far? In a word FANTASTIC!!!!!
There are those that complain he is tackling too much too soon and I say HOORAY!!! We finally have a president in office that is working for the American people. Yes, it is possible to walk & chew gum at the same time!!!!!!

Go President Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had It   March 10th, 2009 8:50 pm ET

Give it 8 years - after all, you gave the village idiot that couldn't even speak english 8 years. If Obama does no better than Shrub, he'll still get the same benefits Shrub gets – DEALWITH IT.

King, Columbus, OH   March 10th, 2009 8:50 pm ET

President Obama promised of change on the campaign tray and i think he's delivering the promise. the realization of this change may take longer but the path he's taking the country is just what we need after 8 years of messy governance. If Bush and Cheney had pursued even 10th of what Obama has done in 50days, we would have enjoyed a better America. Its a shame!!!

My grade: A+
Actual Score: 99.95%

Katherine   March 10th, 2009 8:49 pm ET

I think one issue that is being ignored in the effort to improve education is the problem of teenage pregnancies. Children raising children does not usually lead to strong parental support which is so important to ensuring children get a good education.

Fred May Sr.   March 10th, 2009 8:47 pm ET

Considering to group of spoiled Repuplicans across the aisle I think he is doing OK. You would after they get spanked twice they would see the light. They will continue to fight until the Country is so deep in trouble it will take a Genious to get it back on an even keel. McConnell, Boehner, Ried and Pelosi have got to go. They have caused more problems than enough.

F on performance.
F on policy.
F on execution.
A on speech reading.
A on campaigning.
F for leadership

Our long American nighmare is only beginning.

Steph   March 10th, 2009 8:43 pm ET

I think he's doing an awesome job. Better in 50 days than Bush did in a full 8 years. Keep up the great work!

worriedmom   March 10th, 2009 8:41 pm ET

Ironic that Obama makes the Education speech at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and then states that the Latinos have been the most deprived of education. Excuse me, but in all honesty why is he all of a sudden catering to the Latinos. What happen to the majority of African Americans that voted for him??? Seems he is just campaigning for a vote for the next 4 years!

Charlie in Maine   March 10th, 2009 8:41 pm ET

There are two Types of grading. They are criteian based evaluations where the teacher looks at a particular set of needed and evaluates based on whether or not the criteria are met. On this score I would say

Honesty A+
Realism B+
Economy A
Cabinet choices A-
Respect for Science A++
Foreign policy A
Poliotical Shrewdness A

The other type of evaluation is "normative based" . In normative evaluation the teacher compares hoe well an individual does compared to others in the students class. Comapring Obama to the last President I would give him an A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Hey what is the limit for the amount of characters allowed on this blog?

We need to find out if the bombing is not the handy work of those who want to spend more time and money in the wild west of Iraq!!!!!!!!

Can't trust anyone who was appointed by bush to do anything with this war itself started under false pretense.

big papa   March 10th, 2009 8:38 pm ET

Reforming healthcare will help businesses like GM (and others) cut costs, especially retirees' legacy healthcare costs...

Reforming Education will help to save our most precious natural resource, our youngsters...

...providing them with the skills they need to compete in a technologically and business dominate world...

Reforming the regulations that allowed the Wall Street pirates to bilk TRILLIONS from the treasury and pockets of honest investors...

...will restore much needed credibility to the markets, and our economic system...

...and Reforming government will restore the people's faith (at least those who act in good faith) in our democracy...

...the media talking heads say he's doing too much...

...Can it be done?

...with OUR support...

..."Yes he can!"...

...The Wall Street thieves and schisters don't want this to happen bec too much money is being spread out amongst the people, and out of THEIR hands...

...the right wing conservatives don't want it bec they HATE the melting pot of America, and are just as greedy and racist as the WS mafia...

...Support our President's earnest efforts on behalf of the MAJORITY that elected him...

...NEVER forget who got us into this mess...

Obama 2.0   March 10th, 2009 8:37 pm ET

I think that the president has done a great job to date on most every issue. But I am very disapointed in what is getting ready to happen concerning the omni hog rooting it's way to the white house. What a missed opportunity it will be if the president signs the pork laden bill.

McCain was/is right on this one.

EVOLVE   March 10th, 2009 8:36 pm ET

GREAT JOB PRESIDENT OBAMA! IF WE DID WHAT THE REPUBLCANS WHAT US TO DO AND PUT A GOV'T FREEZE IN PLACE WE WOULD QUICKLY TAIL SPIN INTO A MAJOR DEPRESSION. ANYMORE HYPOCRITICAL COMMENTS OR STALL TACTICS FROM THE REPUBLICANS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED ANTIAMEICAN AT A TIME WHEN THIS COUNTRY NEEDS SUPPORT DURING THIS CRISIS. THE RIGHT WING REPULICANS ARE ONLY INTEREST IN THE RICH, BIG CORPORATIONS AND PARTY AT A TIME THE COUNTRY NEEDS THEIR SUPPORT.

ruth   March 10th, 2009 8:35 pm ET

Obama is doing great. Look what was left for him to deal with.He has done more in 50 days than Bush did in 8 years. Oh, I forgot, Bush started a WAR. Let's give Obama a chance to get things done. A lot of people blame him for the stock market failing–How about today–379 points up. Are you going to give him credit for that? It is time to grow up America and stop acting like spoiled children.

Brad of IL.   March 10th, 2009 8:34 pm ET

I feel he is doing a good job ruining our country. With a high grade of 100% , I say he earned about 0 % . OK ,that was too easy. I would give him a 15 % approval rating.

williams   March 10th, 2009 8:29 pm ET

mr president has done fantastic job within shoetage time even with problem that he tookover from old hands,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,keep the spirist mr president we can granteed you four more year come 2012.

banderson   March 10th, 2009 8:22 pm ET

I think that in 50 days this president has stuck to his pledge of being able to do more than one thing at a time. I give him a B plus.

RYN   March 10th, 2009 8:21 pm ET

As a republican, I think Obama is doing well. A lot of us thought he might have a hidden agenda, but so far his moderate centrist approach seems to be what the country needs.

JOSE IN NORTHRIDGE   March 10th, 2009 8:19 pm ET

His style of piling one thing on top of another without much degree of oversight and details to follow inspire the eventual outcome, a shoddy job which cost an unbelievable amount of money. Overall he gets a D-. An A for effort and below F for approach and naivete.

jaye   March 10th, 2009 8:16 pm ET

I give him an A....and my opinion is the only opinion I care about.
