WASHINGTON (CNN) – Police found five guns and a sword in a car during a traffic stop near the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday.
Capitol Hill officers became suspicious as they questioned a man driving a white Pontiac, a spokeswoman said. The officers, based on their conversation, grew concerned about the possibility that he had hazardous materials in his car, she said.
The driver, who was alone at the time, was taken into custody and a hazardous materials team was dispatched to the scene. While no such materials were found, the team discovered the firearms and the sword, Sgt. Kimberly Schneider noted.
Charges were pending Tuesday evening, she added.

I bet some republican will use this as a wedge issue about his right to have five guns and a sword is covered by the 2nd ammendment.

Add 11 dead in an Alabama shootout, increasing homicides nationwide and the "gun lobby" still bastardizes the second ammendments. Registration, regulation and, yes taxation are needed and needed now to curb this violence and beef up the ATF for enforcement.
Gun shows need to be either outlawed or be able to do background checks before any weapon changes hands. Ask law enforcement in the Southwest about the scores of murders just over the Mexican border now spilling over into U.S. territory. The vast majority of the weapons used were purchased in the U.S. and smuggled over the border. Enough!

Nothing to joke about, we have alot of nutcases out there. Why was this guy driving near the U,S. Capitol with guns? I find nothing funny about this at all. Look at what just happen in Alabama, and that church were the pastor was killed.
By buying foreign cars people are making them rich and forgetting about their own country. The reason for the stop is because that car is out of date and you don't see them on the street anymore. Charging him before they know what he was doing with those weapons in his car is off base. Find out the facts first. There have been numerous threats on Obama's life and maybe they thought this was another one. Ovama is out in the open too much and I don't believe his protection is that great. He needs more coverage.

Excellent work on behalf of the Capital police. However, we should weigh the situation carefully and learn the facts as best as we can before any conclussions are drawn in the media.

Welcome to America. We can only guess how many people on our roads are armed to the teeth and ready for mortal combat with anyone who cuts them off. However, the sword is an interesting variation.

But you can't have guns in Washington, its unleeegal! Everyone knows that DC has the bestest gun control laws in all the land, so this man couldn't possibly have had guns. It must be a government coverup/conspiracy.
