Biden will nominate Gil Kerlikowske Wednesday as the next drug czar.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Seattle, Washington Police Chief Gil Kerlikowske will be nominated Wednesday as the Obama administration's drug policy director, according to two senior administration officials.

Vice President Joe Biden is expected to make the announcement. If confirmed by the Senate for the cabinet-level post, formally known as Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, Kerlikowske will take over for John Walters, who held the position under President George W. Bush.

Kerlikowske, 59, is a military veteran with 36 years of law enforcement experience. The job of drug policy chief entails overseeing the agency that sets the country's drug-control strategy.

Good job Deb Black! I think MJ should be legalize. A very large percentage of this country smoke. In Cali the get about 1 Billion in revenue from sales. Just think about the revenue this could bring our country each yr. I say at least 30 billion. In addition it would be less money for housing users and suppliers in jail and require a bite less funding to the agencies that go after these people. By all means go after the real drugs. We also need to get control of our own boarders.

Some people have nothing to say and alot of people have less to say than them.............Sick and tired of the blame game. We are where we are and it really makes no difference how we got here. So all that want to blame Bush....blame Obama.....why not give solutions instead
of ranting on about left wing this and right wing that. Our politicians are never going to legalize drugs...period. It's the surest way not to get re-elected and we all know thats what they are in office for.

"Every other day a prominent Conservative Republican is found soliciting underage, same sex liasons in some seedy motel or bathroom"

Ever heard the name Gerry Studds? See, when a republican like Foley has underage sex with a minor his career is finished, republicans are disgusted with him and they will never support him again. Gerry Studds a liberal Democrat, was elected 6 times after he was busted and was given a parade by the liberal Democrats in Boston after they found out he had sex with a minor. It's a fact, look it up. I think it is sick how libs support and celebrate child molesters and drunk driving murderers. Why Deb, why do you support such people so blindly? Have you no decency?

To gggg- you are wrong. I am a devout republican, but believe that drug war has only one purpose- to keep drug czar and alike employed. The biggest advocates of tougher drug penalties and enforcements are indeed police officers, FBI, DEA, etc. Think about it, what would they do if drugs become legal. I personally think that we are spending way to much money, effort, and time in preventing nonviolent people from getting high. The drug war will never succeed because anyone who has tried pot knows that government propaganda is in fact just that.
