Chuck Norris for president … of Texas

If the State of Texas ever left the Union, Chuck Norris is interested in being president of the newly independent country.
If the State of Texas ever left the Union, Chuck Norris is interested in being president of the newly independent country.

(CNN) – Actor Chuck Norris has his eyes on the presidency, but not the White House. Norris wrote that he would be interested in becoming the president of Texas, if the state were ever to secede from the Union.

“I may run for president of Texas,” Norris wrote Monday in a column posted at WorldNetDaily. “That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.”

The actor claimed “thousands of cell groups will be united around the country in solidarity over the concerns for our nation” and said that if states decide to secede from the union, that Texas would lead the way.

“Anyone who has been around Texas for any length of time knows exactly what we'd do if the going got rough in America,” Norris wrote.

“Let there be no doubt about that.” Norris was a strong supporter of Mike Huckabee’s presidential bid, and he helped to draw attention to the former Arkansas governor’s campaign.

Is Texas big enough to hold all the right-wing republican neo-cons? Then I say go for it, but don't come begging to get back into the union when your republic is broke because no one wants to pay taxes. Oh, and take Rush with you.

    The biggest irony?

If some poor to fair actor had said anything remotely similar to this about Northeastern or West Coast states during the years of Mad King George II, they'd only just be getting out of Guantanamo Bay right now.

Hey, Homeland Security – Are you getting any of this? You don't have to bug his phone....He is saying it on the air....

By the way, Chuck....its the UNITED States of America. We don't go for that secession talk around here. Why don't you personally leave the US and take yourself off to wherever you would find it better. And good luck with that. Maybe they need a different president....we are doing fine with the one that we have now, thank you for offering.

Republicans – When are you going to scrape scum like this guy and Palin off your shoes so we can take you seriously again?

"Norris wrote that he would be interested in becoming the president of Texas, if the state were ever to secede from the Union."

Are these the same folks that had "America First" as their campaign theme?

I don't care what Chuck Norris says! You all were the ones who elected that dunce over Ann Richards. You all helped to start this problem and now you all have to dig in and help get us out!

Unbelievable! Un-freaking believable! I am just absolutely amazed at the level of unpatriotism being displayed each and every day. Instead of coming together to work something out, he's adopted a "cut and run" attitude. How exactly does that help Americans?

Oh wait, they won't be Americans anymore.

I have always felt that we should give Texas back to Mexico. It was stolen from them in 19th century in a brazen act of aggression and the people of Texas are a blight upon America.

LOL, Let them have Texas, and the Bush's who screwed this country up to begin with. Whats he going to do exile them? If they are to secede, then we aren't going to allow the Cowboys in the NFL anymore. That god-fosaken state isn't worth a sack of poop!

When right-wing groups encourage sedition, they get cheered on national television.

When left-wing groups encourage sedition, they get raided by the FBI and shot on national television.

Well Chuck Norris' unpatriotic comments show his lack of understanding about what the United States is. As interpreted through the Constitution by both Congress and the Supreme Court, cecession is illegal and NO state or part of a state has the right to ceceed from the Union. The truth is, a future Lone Star Republic is not a serious possibilty- and it wouldn't last long with a President Norris.

Let's give them some sort of tax benefit to make this happen. They're crazy enough to elect Dubya as their President again.

"if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.”

Chuckles, did you just insinuate that the rest of the US is turning into an enemy of Texas? Which means Texas would be an enemy of the US. Which would make you an enemy combatant. And I don't think enemy combatants have a very good track record of late. Then again, you could just be a 4th rate, hack actor and complete idiot.

I think you got you head caught in your Total Gym a few too many times.

Just him and Dell computers. Or, the company that formerly was able to sell Chinese-made computers with the Dell logo on them. Let's hear some of your foreign policy ideas, Mr. Walker Texas President!

So far though, he wins in veiled threats, brooding telephone-holding photographs, and (dear lord) WND (WingNutDaily?) interviews. Keep up the good work.

    Oh, lord.
Is Chuck Norris another crazy neo-con?
Huckabee better keep this guy at arm's length if he decides to run again in 2012.

I think the past eight years have already shown that Texas doesn't always export the best and brightest in politics.

Have you been drinking some of your hair dye? Your only real claim to fame is selling exercise equipment that you obviously do not use and you think that qualifies you to be president of anything. Are you so angry that your presidential choice did not win that you will resort to such drastic actions? Perhaps he lost because of you. Ever think about that? Do you realize the consequences of seceding from the union even if it could happen?. Perhaps you want another civil war so you can bring out that arsenal of weapons you are dying to use. What an idiot to even suggest such a thing. If you want to shoot something the rest of America has a suggestion for you.

  25. Please do secede Texas - but only after I move back.

Ignore the idiots in this blog that have never even visited Texas. I call them coasters - they fly back and forth from East to West Coast and never stop in the heart of the USA to learn about the rest of America.

Many Texans are rugged, independent, liberty-conscious folks that dislike the path towards socialism the country is clearly on today. The question is - have the majority of Texans become too soft to secede?

Do the majority of Texans now believe that people who work hard to earn a good living should have over 50% taken away to give to those that are irresponsible? I hope not.

Please secede - I want to move to a country that believes in freedom, personal responsibility and minimal government like our founding fathers envisioned. The mess we are in today was caused by government intervention in the mortgage industry starting with FDR. Don't believe the press and Democrats that say it was Wall Street. Wall Street simply acts on opportunity as it should. And it is certainly not Bush's fault. Congress and previous presidents set up the mortgage fiasco long ago. Where Bush failed was in not addressing the loans as his administration had planned pre 9/11. Now the Democrats want to use the government created crisis to force socialism. It is time to secede.

LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS!
