Chuck Norris for president … of Texas

If the State of Texas ever left the Union, Chuck Norris is interested in being president of the newly independent country.
If the State of Texas ever left the Union, Chuck Norris is interested in being president of the newly independent country.

(CNN) – Actor Chuck Norris has his eyes on the presidency, but not the White House. Norris wrote that he would be interested in becoming the president of Texas, if the state were ever to secede from the Union.

“I may run for president of Texas,” Norris wrote Monday in a column posted at WorldNetDaily. “That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.”

The actor claimed “thousands of cell groups will be united around the country in solidarity over the concerns for our nation” and said that if states decide to secede from the union, that Texas would lead the way.

“Anyone who has been around Texas for any length of time knows exactly what we'd do if the going got rough in America,” Norris wrote.

“Let there be no doubt about that.” Norris was a strong supporter of Mike Huckabee’s presidential bid, and he helped to draw attention to the former Arkansas governor’s campaign.

You know how they're always talking that, "America: love it or leave it" stuff....why don't they take their own advice?! LEAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We don't want YOUR kind (highly ignorant, war loving, closet racist, homophobic, hyper-hypocritical, Bible thumping and DESTROYING) in this country anyway! We'd be sooooooooooooo much better without you extremists. I'm NOT a Republican, never have been, never will be, but why the hell don't moderate Republicans stand up? Why has the majority allowed a very small extreme fringe to control the debate?! Are you THAT scared of the wingnuts?

Norris and his "supporters" should be called up on charges of treason. But hey, take your own advice......LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT!!!

You liberals are not thinking this through. You would gain two senate seats and several congressional ones as well as getting a buffer state between you and the mess that is Mexico right now.

I thought you all disdained the "flyover" red states anyway and with all the comments below about the mentality of Texans, why are you upset????

Sounds like everyone is out of line in this country if they don't do what Obama would do. Come on folks....this is American and good ole Chuck can say as he pleases. We are still allowed free speech aren't we or have they taken that from us as well? America as we have known it is on the way out. The new Dem's are changing the face of our country and our freedoms and if Texas wants out...power to em.

Please do Mr. Norris. I hope you tell Mack Brown, Mike Sherman, and Mike Leach about your little plans for Texas. Where would you find the atheletes to compete in your beloved sport of college football? Typical loudmouth, closet racist Texan. Chuck needs to worry about the emerging civil war that is brewing on his states southern border. He needs to stop the rhetoric and get his priorities straight.

It isn't treason, that it was originally part of Texas' plan in order to join the Union! Read your HISTORY liberals!

    Go Chuck!

If Texas seceded, it would become a third world country pretty soon. Most of the southern states (for all their bluster) take more from the federal than they give back in the form of taxes. That goes for South Carolina, Louisana and many other red states. For once, find the details, do the math and talk. Talk of secession is treason anyway.

Right on Chuck, I am sure SEVERAL more states would leave! I would also be willing to bet THAT CONSERVATIVE STATES WOULD DO BETTER THAN LIBERAL STATES!

But then again what do I know. God Bless the USA.

C'mon Chuck…crack open a history book. Secession has been tried and found to be illegal due to the defeat of the Confederacy.

If the "cells" you mention want to form,, I'm in IL and ready for the IL cell ...... I've been and worked in TX and know exactly what you think....... Keep up the rhetoric and keep the issue alive ... We need to defend ourselves from a socialist agenda resulting in a socialst state... .....

Having resided in Texas for close to 30 years the only individuals who espouse secession as an idea are the native born. The problem that native Texans dont reallze is that a good chunk of thier population is from other states and would go quietly.

Isn't it interesting how all the American flag wavers are really terrorists and ANTI-AMERICAN! So much for who's a "real" American. Chuck Norris if a MORON with delusions of grandeur! He should be the first one arrested when the federal governament cracks down on terrorists and TRAITORS! All true Americans should put his movies in a shredder. I certainly plan to!

    Enough said about the matter.

Norris is a joke. I'm a veteran. My oldest sister just came back from Afghanistan after seven years on the ground working in the U.S. medical relief effort that got medical aid at the village level to nine million Afghans.

She would be glad to get Norris into the Infidel Quarter on the border with Pakistan on the ground. Does he speak fluent Farsi or Dari? She does. He would not last 48 hours. Just tell her where to send the body. Making movies has no practical application whatsoever when it come to life and death in the real world on the ground in harm's way. Without the language and culture skills, you are dead. Fast.

This isn't just a southern state thing. I understand there are a sustantial number of Vermont residents who seriously want to pursue secession.

I think Chuck was just trying to express the frustration of the 4.5 of us out of ten who are saddened to see our great country being destroyed by Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the rest of the Democrats in Congress.

If these lunatics continue to spend billions that we don't have on their liberal dream projects, there won't have to be a second Civil War because the country will fall apart on it's own.

Some of us just hate to see what the Dems are doing, which is spending our children's inheritance in order to entrench and cement their power in perpetuity. They're buying next election's votes today, with your children's money. Four billion to Acorn? What do you Obama worshippers think that money is going for? Maybe more houses for "the poor"?
