Chuck Norris for president … of Texas

If the State of Texas ever left the Union, Chuck Norris is interested in being president of the newly independent country.
If the State of Texas ever left the Union, Chuck Norris is interested in being president of the newly independent country.

(CNN) – Actor Chuck Norris has his eyes on the presidency, but not the White House. Norris wrote that he would be interested in becoming the president of Texas, if the state were ever to secede from the Union.

“I may run for president of Texas,” Norris wrote Monday in a column posted at WorldNetDaily. “That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.”

The actor claimed “thousands of cell groups will be united around the country in solidarity over the concerns for our nation” and said that if states decide to secede from the union, that Texas would lead the way.

“Anyone who has been around Texas for any length of time knows exactly what we'd do if the going got rough in America,” Norris wrote.

“Let there be no doubt about that.” Norris was a strong supporter of Mike Huckabee’s presidential bid, and he helped to draw attention to the former Arkansas governor’s campaign.

  1. TEXAS IS the STATE/COUNTRY

Treason, please, what do you people know all that CNN tells you. read a history book or go to school. Texas is the only state that can be self sufficient. No other state produces enough oil, energy. we have farms, for fruits and veggies, PLENTY of cows, mostly all of the manufacturing will be ok. The port of houston and at corpus will be fine. It will hurt the rest of america to not have those ports available. First of all none of you get facts before you say TREASON how is it treason, what is the definition of treason, He has done nothing against America. Texas is still part of the union Morons.

Your readers are wrong,Texas does have the right of secession as it chose to join the U.S.I am an immigrant to Texas and to say that the Texans would cut and run is an insult to all Texans, native born or adopted. It shows a complete lack of understanding of Texas and its history."Remember the Alamo"
The northern jessies and western cereals would scamper like roaches into the dark should anything affect their overblown overfed ego's or lives,so I think we should secede and then take over or amalgamate the southern states, starting with New Mexico(we need the skiing).

God Bless America for her freedom of speech. But in no way whatsoever does this proud Texan agree with seceding from the union. “Anyone who has been around Texas for any length of time knows exactly what we'd do if the going got rough in America,” Norris wrote. “Let there be no doubt about that.” Let it be known that not all Texans would take this cowardky way out.

Kudos to Mr. Norris. At a time when things are going rough in the country, his is the lone Republican that has come up with an original idea that may actually help the U.S.

    Thanks, but no thanks Chuck!

Luckily, there are lots of viewpoints in TX, and his idea of secession would definitely be in the minority.

Texas may have voted "red" (55-45%) in this past national election, but our roots are blue, and we're coming back to our roots! I speak for many in our great state when I say that we support our President, pray for his success in healing our nation's woes, and look forward to a brighter future.

Well this is not treason, it's sedition, specifically seditious libel since he wrote the words down. The FBI needs to talk to Chuck.

This is coming from Norris who is both an actor in low-budget karate movies and the spokesman for home gym equipment. Why in the world does he think we care what this clown has to say about politics? The right-wing loonies are really making an appearance lately.

This isn't sedition? I hope the FBI is investigating his claim of "cells" around America uniting to push for secession.
C'mon Chuck…crack open a history book. Secession has been tried and found to be illegal due to the defeat of the Confederacy.
And they talk about looney left wing celebrities!"

I'm no big fan of Mr.Norris, but he speaks for many of us who believe that government at all levels is self serving and corrupt beyond repair. I lost getting my 2 granddaughters back from the because I didn't have any money to hire a lawyer to fight back.
I sent certified letters to dave syverson, dave winters, and Blagojevich.
Only one bothered to respond. My understanding of our government is that, from the president on down, they are all civil servants who only job is to serve the people. obviously that has not been happening for a long time.
So let the dissolution of the USA begin. We start all over.

Actually for all you idiots out there, texas decided to become a part of the united states on several conditions, one of which was the right to suceed from the U.S. at any time it chose. Also its the only state allowed to fly its state flag even with the U.S. flag. The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time and the way the government is growing and taking away our freedoms, its about time we took a stand and took our nation back. Kick out all these idiot life long polititions and start living by the constituion. Chuck served his country in 1958 as an SP in the U.S. Air Force which is more than can be said for the majority of you talking the way you are. You dont like how america was born and how it can be again, then leave and go stay in france with all the other liberal hippies.....
