Chuck Norris for president … of Texas

If the State of Texas ever left the Union, Chuck Norris is interested in being president of the newly independent country.
If the State of Texas ever left the Union, Chuck Norris is interested in being president of the newly independent country.

(CNN) – Actor Chuck Norris has his eyes on the presidency, but not the White House. Norris wrote that he would be interested in becoming the president of Texas, if the state were ever to secede from the Union.

“I may run for president of Texas,” Norris wrote Monday in a column posted at WorldNetDaily. “That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.”

The actor claimed “thousands of cell groups will be united around the country in solidarity over the concerns for our nation” and said that if states decide to secede from the union, that Texas would lead the way.

“Anyone who has been around Texas for any length of time knows exactly what we'd do if the going got rough in America,” Norris wrote.

“Let there be no doubt about that.” Norris was a strong supporter of Mike Huckabee’s presidential bid, and he helped to draw attention to the former Arkansas governor’s campaign.

Just because this guy plays a hero on a really awful TV show doesn't mean he's a hero in real life. Now we know that, when the going gets tough, Chuck plans to turn tale and run. He may have "cell groups" around the country but not so many in his head. What he's talking about is sedition – treason against our country. It may sound more like childish pouting because he didn't get his way but the sort of conspiracy against the Constitution and the United States of America is worthy of serious investigation. Move to another country or buy your own island, Mr. Norris, you don't have the right to undermine this the USA. Your idea of patriotism stinks.

So "cut and run" is exactly what Texas would do if the going gets rough in America? Hilarious, Chuck. This must be the right-wing equivalent to threats that liberals used to make about moving to Canada when Bush was re-elected.

Maybe we could send all Republicans to the Country of Texas and they can all vie for the title of President of Texas. This is not the Republican Party my parents belonged to in the 50's and the 60's. A bunch of whackos.

Other than self-aggrandizing through martial arts SKILLS, what is Norris' source of expertise in matters of politics and / or decisions regarding what is best for this nation?

Like they say, personal opinions are like anal canals, everyone has one.

Its interesting that Chuck's suggestion for Texas seceding out of union has labeled him as "domestic terrorist", "traitor" etc....

Then why are we supporting Tibet's separation from China? And don't give me human rights issue as the reason. Look away from the sensational riot news, and examine the facts. Will Tibet be better separate or with China. Or is it that supporting Tibet's separation will somewhat weaken China's political position, as a competitor to US?

Or are we all just hypocrites...

So let me get this straight Mr. Norris. If "things get too tough" in the U.S., you and the Texans are going to cut and run? Count me as a former fan. I also trust the Taxans to be more mature than you seem to be.

I thought this was settled in the 1860's! Remember the Civil War with over a million lives lost on both sides and families torn apart. How fast we forget history. It took a great war to make is clear to all that a state does not have the right to remove itself from the union of the United States. We all have our differences. As Americans I feel we have the duty to work out our issues like responsible educated adults. We may not always agree. But just because you may not agree with some issue does not give you the right to succeed. It like a child playing a game. If they start to lose they just quit instead of seeing through the issue. I don’t believe Americans are quitters. We can work out any issue! As long as we see the big picture and stand together. Remember this saying “A house dived can not stand.”

And this guy calls himself a "patriot"? What does he want another Civil War?? It didn't work the first time and it wouldn't work again. I know plenty of Texans who are real Patriots and would never fall for this crap.

I think we should hold off from closing Gitmo, we have some homegrown terrorists here that we may need to store offshore.

What the matter Chuck the electric shock therapy has stopped working?
I say let them go we will keep the rich States, like California, New York, everything north of the Carolinas , but like the "Soup Nazi" "NO MORE MONEY FOR YOU" we will stop having to send our wealth to them while they attack you like ungrateful children. We can finally wean the South off of Northern welfare checks.

I guess Chuck Norris is starting to believe his own Internet meme of how special he's supposed to be, when it sounds more like he's wants to cut and run when the going gets tough. Shows maybe he's not the tough smart guy he always tried to act.

    HUH?? Is he serious???

This is why the rest of the country still thinks of Texans as cowboys and hicks. I live in Texas and have no idea what this guy is talking about. He's a lunatic.

To the post Los, a GOP congressman Mr. Sessions already said that his party needed to be the "insurgency" party. Along with their leader's declaration "I hope Obama fails," and their subsequent obstruction, it's all starting to make sense isn't it?

    Expect this to get uglier.

Before you people continue to bash Texas, Texans and Cowboys, remember that our economy is at least trucking along so don't be moving any of your people to our state when YOU lose your jobs and houses because YOU will not be welcomed here with all of your rhetoric!
