Chuck Norris for president … of Texas

If the State of Texas ever left the Union, Chuck Norris is interested in being president of the newly independent country.
If the State of Texas ever left the Union, Chuck Norris is interested in being president of the newly independent country.

(CNN) – Actor Chuck Norris has his eyes on the presidency, but not the White House. Norris wrote that he would be interested in becoming the president of Texas, if the state were ever to secede from the Union.

“I may run for president of Texas,” Norris wrote Monday in a column posted at WorldNetDaily. “That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.”

The actor claimed “thousands of cell groups will be united around the country in solidarity over the concerns for our nation” and said that if states decide to secede from the union, that Texas would lead the way.

“Anyone who has been around Texas for any length of time knows exactly what we'd do if the going got rough in America,” Norris wrote.

“Let there be no doubt about that.” Norris was a strong supporter of Mike Huckabee’s presidential bid, and he helped to draw attention to the former Arkansas governor’s campaign.

Why do Chuck Norris and the Republicans hate America? He and his "blame America first" friends are traitors.

This makes no sense whatsoever. Now I'm thankful that when he came to visit us in Camp Buehring (Kuwait) in 2007, I chose to go fill sandbags than to pose in pictures with Chuck.

Chuck, even an Honorary Marine like yourself isn't supposed to talk about secession like that. You're disgracing the uniform!!!

Maybe he can join up with Sarah Palin and take Alaska with him as well. If this were anyone else it would be treason or at least the Right nut jobs would say that..

Some of you guys are WAAAAY overreacting to this. I think it was meant to be light-hearted, and the likely criticism is probably coming from the same douche bags that supported draft-dodgers for President or say things like "If McCain is elected I'm moving to Canada."

First of all. There is no way the US would up and let the 10th largest economy in the world up and secede. Second of all, I dont know where Chuck Noriss lives but I dont think anyone in the Houston/Dallas metro areas has ever considered seceding. Given that Houston/Dallas make up >50% of the population, Chucky boy will have a hard time of it.

There you have it folks the crux of the republican ideas. Hoping for Americas failure and then trying to be autonomous country like the ETA terrorists in Spain. This is how they see America.

this is stupid. I'm from Texas and I'm pretty sure that as a country we would fail as miserably as we did the first time around. Chuck Norris knows absolutely nothing about politics. He is popular because of jokes people made up about him....that's it.

Norris has become a sad, brainwashed and angry man, convinced of the righteousness of ultra-conservativism.

How sad, I used to think Chuck was an honest guy looking out for the average Joe. Now it seems he has become another standard "up with me and my family, f the rest of the country" mentality people lining up on the right wing and fearfully clinging to their guns while moving up into the hills.

Texas won't ever be its own country.

Maybe someone has something else to hawk on an infomercial and wants some preemptive press time.

If this is not the case, and he were not a white christian male, he'd be under investigation for terrorist activities.

I would totally move to Texas if this ever happened. Texas or California could in fact be their own country, so yea I would be there in a heartbeat.
