(CNN) – Actor Chuck Norris has his eyes on the presidency, but not the White House. Norris wrote that he would be interested in becoming the president of Texas, if the state were ever to secede from the Union.
“I may run for president of Texas,” Norris wrote Monday in a column posted at WorldNetDaily. “That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.”
The actor claimed “thousands of cell groups will be united around the country in solidarity over the concerns for our nation” and said that if states decide to secede from the union, that Texas would lead the way.
“Anyone who has been around Texas for any length of time knows exactly what we'd do if the going got rough in America,” Norris wrote.
“Let there be no doubt about that.” Norris was a strong supporter of Mike Huckabee’s presidential bid, and he helped to draw attention to the former Arkansas governor’s campaign.
Chuck Norris can break Texas off from America with one roundhorse kick.
Oh, and I forgot....what is it exactly that the Republicans are offering us this time to make things good for everyone? No new ideas, just the free hand of the market and no new taxes. Look where that got us.
Wow, Chuck who knew you were such a racist and crazy as a bedbug to boot?! I guess after years of trying to make it in Hollywood only to end up selling fitness machines on tv would make me a little nuts too. See ya Chuck, take all the other loons and lemmings with ya!!
Crop circles are Chuck Norris' way of telling corn to lay down!!!
Palin, Joe the Plumber, Limbaugh, Coulter, etc maybe they all could move to the south. Maybe we should have let the south secede back in 1860. Southerners crack me up they receive more federal dollars per capita than the rest of the country and produce the least amount of money for the treasury. Their grip on power is slipping away and they don't like it.
Um, Chuck – first of all, you are a loon.
Second of all, I sorta think the president has the armed forces on his side.
Isnt the north the hardest hit in this recession? What idiot thinks the north keeps this country running? With cities like Detriot, Cleveland, Buffalo....etc....if the south left the north would be screwed.
Chuck Norris, patriot.
What PHONY patriotism! If things don't go his way, Chuck Norris turns into a traitor and indicates he might support secession.
"When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty. "
Words to live by.
This is about as relevant as Chuck's movie career.
He's a washed up B-lister. Who cares if he's also a right-wing extremist?
Hey Chuck you better get in line George W. is already running
A advocate of splitting the USA. Guess Noris will not be a our TV anymore. I now have no respect. OMG another RUSH LIMBAugh
When I first saw the "Chuck Norris eyes the presidency" headline, I was amused...then I read the article, and now I'm HIGHLY amused.
Yea right...........President of what?
He is JOKING ppl :P
Country First, eh?
At first I thought this was a movie idea, but he seems to be serious. Can't stop laughing.
My bad miss read. I agree with Accountability
Chuck Norris, please you're an over botoxed fool!
Reconstruction is over!
– A Texan
"We used to think that revolutions are the cause of change. Actually it is the other way around: change prepares the ground for revolution."
If we were to compare his intelligence to his acting ability ... he would be an Academy Award winner! Thank goodness there's plenty of room in the GOP for all the whack jobs on the extreme right.
Norris would win in a landslide. As an independent territory, Texas would not have suffer the high taxation, unfunded mandates and debt obligations imposed on the states. Texas should succeed so the federal government realizes that it needs to change its ways. It makes total sense. Why does the rest of the country always look to Texas to bail out the country then the run the country with names, like Lyndon Johnson, Bush 41, Bush 43, Sam Rayburn and Jim Wright. The other 49 states are very needy and dependent on Texas.
I thought this dude was a patriot. Wrong again, I guess. Guess these rightwing 'mericans think patriotism means supporting the country when they're in power. Oh, by the way, I am a conservative, but not an ideologue.
Huckabee and his side kick Chuck think that dinosaurs and humans used to hang out together.
Shouldn't that pretty much disqualify them from being elected to anything but the Whackadoodle Club?
