Chuck Norris for president … of Texas

If the State of Texas ever left the Union, Chuck Norris is interested in being president of the newly independent country.
If the State of Texas ever left the Union, Chuck Norris is interested in being president of the newly independent country.

(CNN) – Actor Chuck Norris has his eyes on the presidency, but not the White House. Norris wrote that he would be interested in becoming the president of Texas, if the state were ever to secede from the Union.

“I may run for president of Texas,” Norris wrote Monday in a column posted at WorldNetDaily. “That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.”

The actor claimed “thousands of cell groups will be united around the country in solidarity over the concerns for our nation” and said that if states decide to secede from the union, that Texas would lead the way.

“Anyone who has been around Texas for any length of time knows exactly what we'd do if the going got rough in America,” Norris wrote.

“Let there be no doubt about that.” Norris was a strong supporter of Mike Huckabee’s presidential bid, and he helped to draw attention to the former Arkansas governor’s campaign.

As a Texan I would add that we have a BALANCED budget and we contribute more to the GNB then any other state!

You would miss us terribly; there wouldn't be enough money to re-distribute!

Also those of us that sleep lightly at night because of the Drug Wars in Mexico, which the current Administration is not addressing at all already KNOW WE ARE ON OUR OWN!

Chuck man, I grew up watching your movies, you're a wise man, and I agree with you totally, the states should break away from the union. The union is broke, literally, in more ways than one. I think you would make an awesome president. Unfortunately I don't live in Texas, but hey if it happens, maybe I'll move there!

Really? I just lost a lot of respect for that gym peddler. And I wonder is O'Reilly, Hannity and Rush will call this guy a traitor or will they flip this story and make it be about what makes this "great patriot" feel this way. Can't wait to hear this get the Daily Show treatment. Don't wait Chucky baby, go now. Move!

For all of those who write old Chuck off as seditious or insane, please check your history books. Texas, unlike South Carolina or any other state actually has the right to secede. That was part of the deal when the Republic of Texas joined the US. They can bail any time they want – legally.

Dang, Texas would really have the slogan "Don't mess with Texas then." Cuz all the military who are proud supporters of our country would move there...........not support this phony Obama guy. Heck, I'd move there if I wasn't in a touring band.

    HAHAHAHA!

And yes, if you've seen the Daily Show with John Stewart where his correspondent goes to Wasilla, Alaska (Palin's hometown), then you know that Todd Palin was/is a part of the Alaskan separatist movement. I wouldn't call these guys terrorists though, just wack jobs.
