(CNN) - As the government tries to curb corporate excess of companies receiving federal bailout money, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner appears to be leading by example.
The man who was grilled by Congress last week over the AIG bonuses took the Delta shuttle from New York to Washington on Saturday, riding in the coach section. Asked why not first class, Geithner said he always rides coach, "never first class".
Too bad he's not leading by example by paying his taxes...
Now, that is CHANGE we can believe in!!!
Coach is OK for NY to DC, but can I expect him to really protect my interest after he was cramped for 7 hours in coach flying to the G20 meeting?
I wonder if there was a story out that one of Sarah Palin's kids was doing lines of coke at a party IF CNN would be all over it! ?!?!?!?!
The double standard is AMAZING...
I'm starting to believe him.
good man, good example
Someone will find a reason to criticize guy for something.
Thank you Geithner! A politician that is beginning to respect our tax dollars!
Sure he does; tryng to save his money to catch up on his taxes.
Gee, wonder what the right will have to complain about here...that he didn't walk?
Just like he leads the nation in unpaid taxes! Somebody give ME a bailout! werd fewl.
Pelosi could learn a lesson.
Geithner Baby!! He's getting it man.
President Obama and his team are top notch. It's great to have a government who practices what they preach and works with the people, not against them. Timothy Geithner, we are with you all the way!
why dont he members of congress as well as the President and Vice President turn down their salary for the year. it is not much but it is symbolic. it is not like they need the money. The president does not pay for a thing but has no problem spending on parties and dinners etc. give up your 400 k
Hopefully the rest of people in Washington would do the same, we can save tons of money that way .
OK, fine, but could we have better policy that doesn't bend over backward to bail out the people whose bad bets brought this on?
Good man, Mr. Treasury Secretary. I wish all the CEOs and "executive management" take notice.
It bothers me greatly that Secty Geithner is being trailed onto AIRPLANES by the media, and on a Saturday, no less.
CNN, are you the new tabloid news?
Good for him. It's not as much the money as it is the attitude. Hopefully others begin to get it as well.
Geither is a good man.
President Obama is very astute in his decisions, that's why I trust him to keep us safe and to protect the well-being of our troops.
The endless publicity stunt. Obama thinks he's Lincoln – he's more Paris Hilton.
what a crock of crap; the tax cheat, leading by example? The incompetent that wants total control over our economy to hand it to the socialist messiah...an example? You're really scrapping the bottom of the barrel, CNN
Way to go...lead by example. I wonder how the bank execs travelled to DC on Friday. I am no fan of Geithner's (this far), but I think that this speaks volumes about his character,
