CNN Poll: Obama approval remains high

Obama's approval rating stands at 66 percent.
Obama's approval rating stands at 66 percent.

(CNN) – As he wraps up a week-long trip abroad that drew positive headlines across Europe, President Barack Obama's approval rating remains high at home, according to a new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released Monday.

Obama draws a 66 percent approval rating in the latest CNN poll, a number that has remained statistically unchanged over the last month. That number is based on positive ratings from virtually all Democrats; two-thirds of Republicans disapprove of what the president has done in office so far.

"Polls indicate that Americans aren't blaming Obama yet for current economic conditions, so his rating remains robust despite the recession," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "In addition, a fairly successful overseas trip usually helps a president win over a few converts."

The poll, which surveyed 1,023 Americans, was conducted between April 3-5 and carries a margin of error of plus or minus three point

President Obama has far surpassed all of my expectations in his short rein so far – he is closing GITMO, passed the equal pay law, stopping the IRaq war, earned respect from the world, has passed a stimulus plan to jump start our economy and he's only been in office 2 months. no wonder the rethugs are so jealous.

The world and most of the US loves our President. But after the horror show of the past 8 years it is not suprising. The haters are people who don't like him because he is a Dem, he is black or both. And most likely these haters don't even like themselves.

Why shouldn't his numbers be high? He's done more in his 1st 100 days to correct the problems with the country than Bush did in 8 years to fix the mess that HE created! I think he's done a great job thusfar, and deserves our continued support!

How can you not approve of an American President who is bright and a great diplomat? He wowed the Europeans and presented a better face for America than we've had in years–since Clinton or maybe even Kennedy.

66% is low to me he should be at 99% and 1% would be for Limbauch and the red neck.

I am SO happy with our President! He did a fantastic job overseas and conveyed just the right messages! All of my friends, neighbors and relatives are happy with what President Obama is doing. Of course we all have things here or there that we do not agree with or are not sure if we agree with. Since most people (except right-wing republicans who are told what to think) do not always agree with a party platform on every single thing that is normal. It is just SO refreshing to have a President to be proud of :)

    Give him time...

Most will be upset shortly... never takes long for people to point fingers.

The massive tax increases that are to come should do the job.

Obama is a failure. He lied about everything he campaigned on. His gov't spending will drive the country into bankruptcy.

As you can see by the response from Enlightened voter, the MSM has done such a head job on these nuts, they can't and never will admit what a disaster the used car salesman in chief has become. But let me apoligize for this comment in advance of Hillary Clinton having to do it for me, after all I am thinking about not paying taxes this year and when all the small business fail because of the welfare frauds and cheats, I may want a cabinet position.

  18. 31% of Americans are TRAITORS for wanting America to FAIL and 69% of Americans to SUFFER!

"Polls indicate that Americans aren't blaming Obama yet for current economic conditions, so his rating remains robust despite the recession,"

And why should we? He had nothing to do with the tax breaks for the rich and fighting 2 wars without paying for them. That is the legacy of what's his face.

President Obama is doing what he was elected to do by a majority of Americans.

That only keeps going up now he is at 66% even with the many issues he has had to address in his short term.

Of course, the neo-cons just hate that the President is so popular, so keep it up Party of NO, keep yammerin' about Ayers, Acorn, socialism etc. The more you spew the funnier it gets!

Of course his approval rating is sky high... for some strange reason, our nation's citizens actually like having an INTELLIGENT person running the country!! So does the rest of the world!!

Who would have thought?? (Certainly not Republicans...)

Attention Republicans: STOOPID is now officially out-of-style!! Hope you all can remember where you left your thinking caps!!

You now need to bring more than anti-abortion, tax-cuts-for-the-rich, the death-tax and gay-bashing ideas to the discussion table.

Otherwise... you can be happy with sitting at the kiddee's table for the next several elections!!! And the best part is... you won't be missed!!!
