Palin spokeswoman attacks Levi Johnston's 'lies'

(CNN) - A Palin family spokeswoman Monday is continuing to push back against recent claims from Levi Johnston, saying the former fiancé of Bristol Palin told an outright "lie" when he said the two were allowed to live together.

"Levi has never lived under the same roof as Bristol or any of the Palins," Palin spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton told CNN.

In an interview that aired in full Monday on the Tyra Banks Show, Johnston said he moved in to the Palin household shortly before the birth of son Tripp last December.

"I just wanted to be there for her when she had the baby," Johnston said, adding the two were allowed to share a room.

"Do you really think the governor and Todd would have allowed that," Stapleton said in an e-mail.

In a statement released late last Friday, Stapelton was also sharply critical of Johnston for appearing on the show.

"We're disappointed that Levi and his family, in a quest for fame, attention, and fortune, are engaging in flat-out lies, gross exaggeration, and even distortion of their relationship," Stapleton said. "It is unfortunate that Levi finds it more appealing to exploit his previous relationship with Bristol than to contribute to the well-being of the child."

But in the interview with Tyra Banks, Johnston said was driven to "break his silence" after reading several news reports that were "not true."

"I have seen a lot of stuff, read a lot of things in the newspapers and news and it's time we get our story out there," he said. "I have seen a lot of stuff saying I've done steroids and drugs and cheated on Bristol and that kind of thing, and it's not true."

Johnston also described a currently chilly relationship with the Palins, saying the Alaska governor "doesn't want me around, I don't think." Johnston, and his mother Sherry, said they may go to court in an effort to be granted 50 percent custody of the child.

Johnston and Bristol Palin were thrust into the spotlight last September when Sarah Palin was chosen to be the Republican vice presidential candidate. During the GOP's national convention in Minneapolis, Palin revealed that Bristol, then 17 years old, was pregnant with Johnston's baby and the two had plans to marry.

The Alaska governor later indicated the wedding would occur this summer. But news surfaced last month the two had split.

When you have you teen age daughter living in your house with her boyfriend you know they are having sex. The reason Palin rep made a statement is because they know this child is telling the truth.

what happened to Sarah's family values? they used this poor kid when it was convenient, and pushed him aside when it wasn't. the entire Palin family should be ashamed of themselves!

Is anyone surprised about this outcome? I'm surely not. This was a train wreck from day one. The marriage joke was just to get Sarah through the election. We placed bets in this office on how long that engagement would last. It serves them all right for thinking that we were stupid enough to fall for a wedding EVER taking place. Not that it matters though because they wouldn't have lasted but a few months if the wedding had taken place. Babies making and having babies is always a disaster. That's why it makes sense to allow teens to use birth control. Get out of lala land people and face the reality that teens are having sex. Teach them how, and then provide the means to protect themselves from pregnancy and disease. Abstinence is wishful thinking and nothing more.

Who cares?? IF the Palin would acknowledge that their daughter is having a child out of wedlock, and admit they pressured Levi to do the "right thing" this would not be a media issue. But as long as Palin or her staff keep putting their foot in their mouth,it will.. And she was going to be the savior of the conservative Repubs!!!!!

So this guy made up everything! Why go on the defensive? Look I wish the baby well along with the mother and father, but Sara needs to stay out of it if she is not going to be positive. The child needs both parents not just the Palin's. I hope good comes out of this and people understand that Sara is not who she pretends to be.

But Mrs. Palin, is this not the same "media bias" that took on those "unprecendented" attacks on your family?!?!

It's laughable that the Palin camp is accusing Johnston of seeking fame. Palin and crew are at the top of the list when it comes to fame seeking. And what reason would he have to lie about where and how he was living? The Sarah Palin has no clothes. They can't stick to their own "moral" principles that they'd love to see imposed on the rest of us and will deny it just to appease the religious right. They're liars like so many that attempt to cover up unrealistic expectations. So the kids shacked up for bit. Big deal. Get over it.

Golly, things were sure different when the Palin camp scrubbed him up and put him in a new suit for the Republican convention...

The best thing that could happen to Levi is for a complete separation from the Palin family all together. Sarah Palin is a total hack and a nut case and she had no business even thinking that she would qualify for the position of Vice President. Furthermore, if Mc Cain had won the Presidency, can you imagine what we would be stuck with if something tragic were to happen to Mc Cain and Sara Palin ended up in the oval office?

I'm glad Levi is speaking up for himself instead of letting the Palin's sweep him under the rug like he's a piece of dirt. Sarah Palin herself introduced him to the public as her pregnant daughters fiance for political reasons and now they are attempting to keep the baby away from him, if in fact it is his baby. To use Levi and the baby for political gain is totally disgusting of the Palins and proves exactly what kind of people they really are. Keep talking Levi and let them threaten to sue you which they won't.

The nut house is unraveling. The Governor exploited her family for political gain, and now we see it was all public relations nonsense. Why do Republicans love to be lied to and exploited by the "family-values" crowd? It is always a sham.

The Palin's have more drama than a little bit.... I really don't share any judgement but my previous statement....... It says it all..... President, 2012? I don't think so.

Confirm most of our thoughts that Bristol and Levi were just two dumb kids who fooled around and wound up in a mess. It is too bad that the ADULTS in this situation made the kids stay together and appear to be on the way to a wedding for political gain!

I am disappointed that Palin contiues to use her family, in a quest for fame, attention, and fortune, is engaging in flat-out lies, gross exaggeration, and even distortion. And agree that It is unfortunate that Palin finds it more appealing to exploit anything and anyone (including her family) to try and get in the news (get attention from anyone that will listen) than to contribute to the well-being of the child (or the rest of her family.

You mean, as opposed to the Palin Family exploiting Levi for "fame, attention, and political expediency."?

It seems that Levi is stereotypically a man without integrity. He is man enough to get the girl pregnant but is too much of a coward to stand behind his actions. Levi's parents seem pretty scummy too. At least we know where Levi got his lack of integrity. Let's hope that Bristol attaches Levi's exploitation money for child support.

The PALINs drove a "free-style" boy into a world of "make-believe" when they thought it was necessary to fullful their fantasy!!! The PALINS lied about the marriage; they lied about the LOVE; they lied about how much of a great kid Levi was when they knew he was "ordinary" and they lied to themselves when they thought they were MORE LAVISH than the Johnstons.

They are all "hillbillys" and the PALINs are NO better than the JOHNSTONs. It's just that one hillbilly decided she was qualified to run for Vice President of the USA and tried to DRAG all of the other hillbillies with her – thinking it would make a difference!!!! NOT!!!

Tyra Banks got just what she paid for: Levi stirred up mud for the Palin family. You should be ashamed of yourself, Tyra Banks. Think ahead to what the little child will be faced with. And, you, Levi, you should just keep quiet, thinking ahead to what your son will be faced with publicly.

It was clear to me that this young man has no desire for celebrity status but has been thrust into the limelight by an unfortunate relationship. He was soft spoken and uncomfortable in discussing intimate details of his relationship with the Palin family and his son. It was apparent that he didn't want to "dish dirt" but instead simply wanted to set the record straight. Both Bristol Palin and her mother have talked with their chosen media outlet, talking freely about their feelings. Isn't it only fair to expect Levi to do the same? And if Sarah Palin is not happy about it then she need only look as far as the nearest mirror to find the person who is responsible.
