Clinton 'deeply concerned' about pirate attacks

Clinton called for international cooperation to combat piracy.

Clinton called for international cooperation to combat piracy.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton late Wednesday called for international cooperation to combat piracy like this week's attack on a U.S. ship and crew off the coast of Somalia.

"We are deeply concerned and we are following it very closely. Specifically we are now focused on this particular act of piracy and the seizure of the ship that carries 21 American citizens," Clinton said at the State Department. "More generally we think the world must come together and end the scourge of piracy."

The secretary of state, speaking at a photo op with the Foreign Minister of Morocco, referred back to problems with piracy that both countries had faced together back in the late 1700s. "I think Morocco was the very first country that recognized us, going back a long time. We worked to end piracy off the coast of Morocco all those years ago. And we are going to work together to end that kind of criminal activity anywhere on the high seas," Clinton said.

If she is concerned then why do we not take action and destroy the pirate's base of operation and shoot up their boats when we find weapons onboard or they run.

  2. CHANGE we need

...had her HUSBAND done something when HE was in charge, maybe this wouldn't be happening. Then again, ALOT of things wouldn't have happened...IF he would have stuck to business.

So Hilliary do something about it instead of running your mouth. Do these savages have to kill the captain to get your attention???

  4. AM Sure

yes, of course hilllary is deaply concerned. but if anyone was "really" concerned you would send the appropriate boats to the area to take care of the pirates. it is not really a complicated solution. duuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh . the democrats should quit being so two faced. as in deeply concerned and deeply inefficiently inactive

Seizing an American ship is an act of war – recognized by all nations. Therefore our Secretary of State is a bit concerned. Korea violates UN resolutions and our President is a bit concerned. A representative from the United States visiting Cuba and puts America down and doesn't recognize the violations of the Cuban government towards it own people and nobody is concerned. God help us.

You can either blast the pirates out of the water or do it the Obama way, talk them to death with rosy speeches.

I have a bad feeling this story about American ship hijack is a big hoax. some details about the accounts of the story does not add up.
    My opinion though.

This is an American flagged ship carrying donated food to Africa and it get's hijacked by a bunch of hoods in a speedboat. The only question to be asked is; why are these pirates still alive? We have the largest navy in the world and the largest group of special forces as well. This is not a situation that is going to be solved by sending Hillary to Somalia (although if they promise to keep her I'll go for it). It will be solved by the death and/or capture of the so-called pirates. Obama needs to learn when to use force.

When will the liberals and the media understand that they are being played by the evil regiments of this world. To know that there won't be any retaliation or accountability, only money exchanged (which is what the terrorists want), there is no fear of justice to be affraid.
The current administration – Congressional and Executive – have no bite to their whimpy bark.
There is no back bone to the current administration when it comes to disciplinary actions.
When you you build a socialist agenda without a defense, those who recognize only a strong defense will pay attention. The fact that the attacks on inocent freighters has increased significantly under the new administration says a great deal about the lack of defense the current administation possesses.
Obama and Clinton have give a get out of jail free card to every terrorist cell and organization around the world.
Stay tuned for more because of their Romanisk era ideals.

You might as well get used to people taking advantage of our country with all the bowing and scraping President did to the Sadia King. That was a bad case of bing scared and now your are seing the results of Obama appolizing for America and now bowing to people and then saying that we are not a Christain nation. What can you expect when our suppose leaders show so much fear and intiidation as shown byt Obama and others.

Why does it seem the us secretary of state is most concered more than our us president, who should be up front center on the issue of protecting our citizens. And why isn't our media questioning the president on the issue which should be his #1 concern and responsibiliy not leaving it to the secretary of state.

Just wait until a war fleet of US Navy ships get held up in the Suez canal by a bunch of fishing vessels. Hopefully someone who gets paid to think of these things can actually envision this like me, otherwise it would seriously make the US look really, really stupid.
