The President knows what he is doing Iraq will be gone soon if his plans come to fruition so Iraq was a logical choice. Afghanistan will be longer and probably involve Pakistan!!!

Bobby Ghosh, shut your mouth, the president made the right choice by going to Iraq. Stick to writing and stay out of politics

Gosh, Ghosh, you are a moron. President Obama went to Iraq to support those troops there. Did it ever occur to you that going to Afghanistan is life-threatening for President Obama? Jerk. And no, I did not vote for Obama.

And that is why Booby Ghosh is the Senior Editor at Time Magazine......and Barack Obama is the President of the USA.

I just love when Editors, talk show hosts and any idiot that can write a book....get out here and try to to say what the President "should have, could have and would have" done if he had HALF the sense of the person talking.

Who actually doesn't have any sense at all.....just a big ego and a bigger mouth.

Bobby Ghosh is not in a position to tell President Obama what he should do, period, that's why Obama has "Generals" on the ground. Unlike Bush, Obama consults the "Generals" and I don't think Bobby Ghosh has the distinguished honor to be called General. Time Magazine's CEO may need to have Bobby Ghosh consult with he/she on a US Generals responsibility to the President and not a editor of a magazine.

Iraq is close to Turkey. Afghanistan is not. It was on the way, and Obama has work to do back home. It's nice for him to visit the troops (and it actually made me wish I was still in the Air Force and still stationed at the airport in Baghdad where he landed), but he has a big job to do back home. I've got no complaints.

Give me a break! It seems that President Obama is always being second guessed no matter what he does. He visited the troops in Iraq because they have suffered the greatest number of casualties for a war that should never have been waged.

All you would be pundits out there.........move on and get a new life, this old one sucks!

Will the ridiculous attacks on the president stop? If he left Turkey without swinging by Iraq, they would have said he should have made the stop. If he went to Afghanistan, they would have said he is neglecting the troops in Iraq. In some people's eyes, any decision he makes is wrong. These people are proving themselves to be petty and irrelevant.

Yes, especially because he went to Iraq and proclaimed as great change in Iraq, which would never have happened under Obama, and, classles as ever, he did not mention the perseverance of Bush and McCain who are responsible from keeping Obama vegetarian/ pacificist mentality from being resonsible for anything. Oh, and by the way, Obama lied when he said Bush did notthing to address gllobal warming. Is this guy just obtuse, or will say anytthing to demonize. Bush addressed this in September 2002 and set out definite deadline to reduce carbon emissions. And if someone wants to bring up the Kyota Accord, that treaty was rebuffed by the Senate 95-0.

And if he would have gone to Afghanistan, they would have said he should have gone to Iraq.

    Irrelevant.

Really, can anyone be more petty? Can anyone Republican just shut up?

These wars, THE war, on Terror is all the makings of and idiot and his crew. What other choice does Obama have but to go where he can and do his best to clean up aaaaaaa loooot of big screw ups. If I was a Republican I would do everyone a favor and jump off the nearest cliff, and be quick about it. In the mean time SHUT UP!

makes NO! diffrence where he had went to IRAQ OR AFGHANASTAN it would be the wrong visit in some peoples mind. To them He just has to be wrong. He took a chance by going any where over there. And that make him a cut above the B S being spewed here

Ghosh, Bobby! Come on man! You are criticizing the President on which country in the war zone he should have visited first?

If he had gone to Afghanistan, you would probably be there saying he should have gone to Baghdad. He should finish that before starting in Afghanistan. Maybe the President had reasons (security) for not going to Afghanistan.

You are entitled to your opinion, but it seems a little ridiculous to me. Thanks anyway...

Whoever initiated this comment about Obama's trip is a lousy fool.

To cry it loud! What do you want this guy to do that he has not done perfectly? I'm extremely disgusted at how people think and pronounce non-sensical statements.

perhaps next time, they can send the new Wax figure of Obama to one place, and the actual person to the other, at the same time, this way, all are happy.

"Bobby Ghosh, Senior Editor Time Magazine, tells CNN's Kiran Chetry the president should have visited Afghanistan before he went to Iraq."

So, did he say this because Time Magazine sent their reporters to Afghanistan instead of Iraq and News Week got the scoop?

Wrong visit! Gosh but Ghosh is so wrong! Our troops are at war. It's appropriate for the Commander in Chief to visit any of them, anywhere, at anytime. Sure, it would be appropriate for the CIC to visit troops in Afghanistan – or Germany, or Italy, or Nebraska! Isn't it about time for people to get a grip on reality and stop this pick, pick, pick nonsense?

It's also way past time for people like Hannity and Limbaugh to start getting called to the carpet for the false, foolish, and nasty nonsense that they continue to spew just get the ditto-heads riled up. If they can't get ratings with the truth, then they should get into some other line of work.

Well, President Obama never served his country in uniform. So he has no idea of Strategic Warfare, Military Planning, Knowledge of Chain of Command, and terminology of the American Military world. It's expected of a Non-Military President to be clueless when it comes to the Nations Defense Forces. I just hope he listens to his Generals, they are trained in world affairs unlike Obama's Lawyer background.

Bobby Ghosh, is there anything Obama can do that you will be happy with. Get a life you people in the media need to stick to giving the people of this Nation a unbiased view of issues where you supply us with FACTS based in reality and stop trying to undercut everything the President does. Your profession has gone from doing nothing which helped lead us to an unwise war to being just plane silly with some of your reporting on the current President.
