Meghan McCain reportedly inks major book deal

Meghan McCain may be topping off her recent publicity blitz with a big payday.

(CNN) – Meghan McCain may be topping off her recent publicity blitz with a big payday: the daughter of former Republican presidential candidate John McCain has scored a six-figure book deal, according to the New York Observer.

Hyperion, which reportedly inked the deal with McCain, has not responded to a CNN request for comment or details on what would be the 24-year-old's second book. (Her first, released last fall, was a Simon & Schuster children's book about her father's life.)

McCain's attention-grabbing blog posts and television appearances over the past few months have kept her in the post-campaign spotlight, and made her one of the year's hottest young Republican pundits.

She's blamed her languishing love life on her father's presidential run; feuded with conservative commentators Ann Coulter and Laura Ingraham; and raved about the GOP's congressional "hottie," 27-year-old Aaron Schock of Illinois.

Most of her recent blog posts have focused on her feelings on the future direction of the Republican Party. "As someone who has been personally attacked when I invited political discourse, I firmly believe that talking about our differences – instead of mudslinging – can only bring people closer to the Republican Party and force them to take a second look at their candidates," she wrote for the Daily Beast last month.

There is no word yet on a possible release date.

I suspected this would happen. Now when M McCain write her book make sure she tell all the crooked deals her father did as well as Bush and Cheney.

I'm a strong democrat but I do like Meghan McCain. She is actually one of only a few republicans I can stand to listen to. I have nothing bad to say about her or her father... I just didn't vote for him and wouldn't have even if he would have picked someone other than hillbilly Palin.

    @ Doug, New Jersey,

You obviously didn't watch the 2000 Republican primaries when George W. Bush had a smear campaign against Sen McCain AND his family. All of which was orchestrated by Karl Rove. Some of the things said about McCain's family, primarily his wife, were absolutely dispicable.

And for your information she is one of the incredibly few Republican faces out there right now I would be willing to vote for in an election. She speaks her mind and won't blindly follow the pack.

Meghan stood on the stage with McCain while he ranted, and raved and lied to his supporters. She stood by, with a big smile on her face, while Obama was called a terrorist, a socialist, etc.

Now she's 'Little Miss Fair and Balanced" who just wants honesty and integrity.

Gag me Meghan. What if (God forbid) McCain won the election? Meghan would have her big fat butt sitting on FOX news talking about how great Sarah is and how wonderful the Rebubs are.

Just another opportunist. She's no better than Beck, Limbaugh, Colter, or any of them.

I guess anyone can write a book huh??? Who cares about this girl. I'm offended by her not because she "thinks" she is a republican but because she has no work experience or life experience for that matter, what could her book possibly be about that anyone would care to read. If her goal is to change the republican party to be more moderate, then good luck with that. WE WILL NOT CHANGE! WE BELIEVE IN OUR CORE VALUES AND WE ARE NOT CHANGING TO MAKE LITTLE MEGHAN HAPPY. She is being used by the left and is too ignorant and naive to realize it.
VOTE FOR A CONSERVATIVE in 2012-Take our country back!!!

Hey John, low tech? You demoncrats crack me up. Ask Biden for the number for recovery.com. I wish Meghan would go democrat. She would fit right in with all the people who say what they think without thinking.

Meghan is thoughful, intelligent and refreshingly honest. I expect she will do very well on the book with the public despite those who are intent on making personal ad hominem attacks on anyone who doesn't agree with them 100% on every issue. Writing a book is a natural extension of her blog. Many of her detractors are apparently envious of her.

This is what capitalism is all about, something that the Democrats and Barrack Obama does not know about.

I'll bet a nickel that the people who buy her book are the same people that find her physically attractive.

SMOKE AND MIRRORS! She's not really that hot! Any old fool can be made to look hot – it's called makeup and cosmetics!

Meggie is NOT the face of the Republican Party, present or future. She's just reaching for whatever she can. In 2 years she'll be taking it off for Playboy, ever so desparate to stay in the limelight.

Hey, Samantha Ronson's now single. Nothing will improve your street cred more with the libs than a good ol' lesbian fling.

It was only a matter of time. She's known for supporting Democratic positions but she supports her share of Republican positions as well. We'll see what the editor lets her keep and what will be changed to sell copies.

    @ best sellers list:

I challenge you to go find an unabridged dictionary and look up the word "fascist".

You'll find the definition fits the current administration more than any in US history.

And don't give me the "fascism is the anthesis of socialism" bull. Just look at the definition.
