Rove took aim at Biden over his comments to CNN.
Rove took aim at Biden over his comments to CNN.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Karl Rove fired the latest volley in the increasingly brutal war of words between Joe Biden and former Bush administration officials, calling the vice president a “serial exaggerator” and a “liar” over recent comments to CNN about former President Bush.

“He’s a serial exaggerator. If I was being unkind I’d say he’s a liar, but it is a habit he ought to drop,” Rove, who also called Biden a “blowhard,” told FOX News Thursday night.

On Tuesday, the vice president criticized his predecessor Dick Cheney's recent comments about some of the Obama administration's foreign policy decisions. He also told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer and Gloria Borger that former President Bush had described himself as a leader during a private Oval Office meeting, and Biden had replied: “Mr. President, turn and around look behind you. No one is following.”

Rove said Thursday the incident was fiction, and that Biden and Bush had never been alone together. “You’ll notice every one of these incidents has the same structure,” he said. “Joe Biden courageously raises the impudent question, the president befuddledly answers, and Joe Biden drives home the dramatic response. I mean, it’s his imagination. It’s a made-up, fictional world. He oughta get back to it and get back to reality.”

“…You should not exaggerate and lie like this when you are the Vice President of the United States.”

CNN is awaiting a response from the vice president’s office.

At least Rove's former employer has the good grace to stay out of site and refrain from any trash talking! Get a life Mr. Rove !

Tim   April 10th, 2009 11:07 am ET

Pete, great point. Biden followed Bush and voted for the war. So did Clinton. Obama didn't vote but would have voted yes if he was in congress at the time. He doesn't have the political courage to stand up against his party.

Minnesotan   April 10th, 2009 11:05 am ET

This is Hilarious! Rove is the poster child for lying, posturing, ignoring facts, presenting half-truths, manipulation, exaggeration and basically being out of touch with reality. Why isn't this cretin in jail yet?

Linda   April 10th, 2009 11:04 am ET

An old saying: "If you have nothing nice to say about someone, then don't say it." Mr. Rove, you are not doing your party any good.

Rob Johnson   April 10th, 2009 11:03 am ET

Wow, talk about the pot calling the kettle black! I'm probably not even the first person to use that phrase in commenting on this story, but it is just so appropriate I couldn't help myself.

I love Biden's line about nobody following W :) Biden can be a blowhard, but at least he tells the truth.

Sam Sixpack   April 10th, 2009 11:03 am ET

Politicians lie. Nothing new. Why do so many morons believe the lying stopped? They’re dragging us under.

Bob   April 10th, 2009 11:03 am ET

This is ludicrous, the man doesn't have a clue regarding anything resembling the concepts and tenets of truthfulness in any of its shades of gray. Rove has lied, and is lying now, to the citizenry of this country for years. He's lying to us again. Watch how his spin factory can actually warp reality in his immediate vicinity. It's scary to watch. Someone put the rock back on top of this slug and keep him out of the sun for all of our sakes.

Karl   April 10th, 2009 11:01 am ET

I have to say this, I am sick of hearing about no more attacks for the remaining years. Wasn't one enough? If your clam to fame is only one attack, that is not much to hang your hat on.

AM   April 10th, 2009 11:01 am ET

Who cares? The mass media cares and they control the message and through it the public. Rove is still the guru of these lapdogs news outfits that enabled all the lies which led to the moral and financial bankruptcy of the U.S.A. This guy should be in jail for outing a true American patriot CIA spy. The fact that conservatives Republican supporters still believe and defend him show how much they love the GOP and hate America.

sji   April 10th, 2009 10:58 am ET

Karl Rove is right. The Vice President of the United States should only exaggerate and lie like that when he is trying to get us into an unnecessary war.

Frank in Wilton Manors   April 10th, 2009 10:56 am ET

And I'll bet Rove still believes we just haven't found the WMD yet.

Too, too funny   April 10th, 2009 10:56 am ET

This headline made me laugh out loud. I think in psychology they call it "projecting".

Scooter   April 10th, 2009 10:42 am ET

There's just no getting around it....Biden is a utter buffoon...good thing he has a large enough mouth to put both his feet in at one time...and he's a heartbeat away from the presidency....what a sobering thought!

Mike   April 10th, 2009 10:42 am ET

When one liar calls another a liar, how do you know the first one isn't lying????

Ken   April 10th, 2009 10:41 am ET

One doesn't even have to pretend to be unkind to call Rove a liar. This is one of the "men" that orchestrated the outing of a CIA agent, and then went around lieing about it and throwing other people under the bus to protect himself. The guy's whole political life has been a lie, the biggest one being that G. Bush was presidential material - the rightwing and other morons in our electorate fell for the lie, and now we've paid for that lie big time.

The current Rove/Cheny/Llimbaugh circus reminds me of another set of powerful yet empty blowhards....just before they went on trial at Nuremburg. You can count on the rightwing of any era to describe themselves quite accurately in the way they spew their lies about others.

Lisa   April 10th, 2009 10:41 am ET

WOW! From one of the biggest liars in the last century. Talk about a no-cred comment.

Eric   April 10th, 2009 10:41 am ET

A Republican calling someone a name? Well, I never.

Dee Garland, Tx   April 10th, 2009 10:40 am ET

Let's see, masterminding the outting of a CIA operative, manipulating facts to justify a war in Iraq, I'd say Rove you are the King of Liars, so continue to make comments like this when you are in public, and then the public may start demanding some accountability from you, I sure hope you don't mind stripes, because you may be wearing them!!

Rob in NC   April 10th, 2009 10:40 am ET

Karl Rove is a snake in the grass. To say he's dishonest is an understatement. There were news reports while he was still with the Bush Administration that he worked with the Republican machine to have a former democratic Governor down south thrown in jail under false pretenses. Based on what I have read he ran that administration more so than any other person. He has not done this country any favors and has dishonored the ideals it was founded upon. Like most silver spoon carrying politicians, his best interest comes first.

BTW...The first major terrorist attack on US soil by foreign insurgents since Pearl Harbor took place under Bush. He was little more than a respondent during his tenure. He couldn't proactively lead anything out of a wet paper bag.

All this said, I am a Reagan fan and couldn't stand Clinton–either one of them.

Brian   April 10th, 2009 10:40 am ET

Yo, Karl, I suppose you believe you're the authority on lying given how you excel at the practice, eh?

Pete   April 10th, 2009 10:40 am ET

I think it's funny that Biden suggests 'no one was following' Bush or his policies. Biden, Clinton, and many other democrats voted for Bush's wars. Don't let them convince you otherwise. It's a lie.

Wassup   April 10th, 2009 10:39 am ET

All Biden has to do is come up with the time and place where he did what he claimed. If he can't he's a liar. Simple. If he can and there are witnesses, than Rove is a liar.

This is not difficult folks.

I love how the posters are equating a senator and VP's actions with a Chief of Staff's. I guess in their eyes, they are equal. Pretty sad for the Dem party.

James from Columbia, MO   April 10th, 2009 10:39 am ET

Well, Biden is an exaggerator and a blowhard, which I don't need Rove to tell me. But a liar? Where did that come from? A comment like that coming from the guy who will happily lie to congress is a riot.

Peter   April 10th, 2009 10:39 am ET

No terrorist attacks in eight years under Bush? Have you forgotten 9/11 and anthranx?

CJ   April 10th, 2009 10:38 am ET

Really, Rove? YOU are calling someone else a li-*cough* Oh–I'm-I'm sorry, I'm choking on irony.

Tina   April 10th, 2009 10:38 am ET

I am at a loss as to how anyone can applaad Rove for "calling him (Beiden) out on this." (as one posted stated)

It is absolutely irrelevant whether that instance was true or not, what is relevant is the character of the person accusing Biden of "exaggerating" and being a "serial liar." Now, if Mother Theresa rose from the dead and said these things, then the statements would have merit.

It seems people have VERY selective memories.

Richard A. Spomer, Alexandria, VA   April 10th, 2009 10:38 am ET

Rove must know something that the Obama administration does not or will not openly share with the Press or Society as a whole; because, it is starting to make me wonder what the truth really is anymore?

Well President Obama should obey the law of the land, and ship his Aunt back over to Kenya; however, every body knows that he does not have respect for the law, and he will let her stay indefinitely while we continue supporting her and his ballooning deficit.

Everyone needs to open their eyes to the fact that politicians are true habitual liars, they can not help themselves. Knowing when a lawyer is lying is when their lips are moving, fact not fiction!

Change   April 10th, 2009 10:38 am ET

GOP = Goofs on Parade

Rove does NOTHING BUT LIE. Every word out of his criminal mouth is a LIE.

I have HOPE, hope that Rove will spend lots of time behinds bars where he belongs.

ron   April 10th, 2009 10:38 am ET

It is true that Biden has such a history of repeatedly getting caught in lies. Remember he dropped out of the previous presidiential election after getting busted telling a lie repeatedly. Then in this past campaign he again lied about his helicopter being forced down by Al Queda and even John Kerry who was with him called him out on that lie. Biden is an old fool who does lie. I don;t like Rove but it is true Biden is full of it.

gary   April 10th, 2009 10:38 am ET

He should know. After all, he lied to his president and a grand jury twice befoe finally coming clean about his role in the Plame case.

Kevin   April 10th, 2009 10:38 am ET

This is coming from a man who helped the former administration LIE to the American people about Iraq and had a hand in passing some the most fascist rules in this country.

You have some nerve, Rove.

Flex   April 10th, 2009 10:37 am ET

It's the pot calling the kettle black. Why isn't Rove in jail yet for exposing a C.I.A. official?

Marty, Grand Rapids Mi   April 10th, 2009 10:37 am ET

No one was a better liar then you and it's absurd that someone with your record would try to judge anyone else.

Rove   April 10th, 2009 10:37 am ET

The party of NO needs to decide: Is Rove trustworthy?
I think the answer is clear: NO.

kristin   April 10th, 2009 10:37 am ET

Karl Rove is nothing but an over-stuffed liar and war criminal. About a year ago, he visited my alma mater to give a keynote. Rove was literally run out of town on a rail. Why anyone would take this man seriously is beyond me.

Bubba   April 10th, 2009 10:37 am ET

Rove might SAY that, but he's lying. He doesn't even believe the stuff he says himself anymore. Wasn't he the traitor who revealed the name of a CIA agent, or was that a different 'publican?

lookatthefactsagain   April 10th, 2009 10:36 am ET

Umm, last time I checked there was a pretty major terrorist attack during Bush's 8 years so look at the facts... Again...

Really????   April 10th, 2009 10:36 am ET

I guess this goes under the category of it takes one to know one.

Frozone   April 10th, 2009 10:36 am ET

Rove isn't in prison yet?

Sniffit   April 10th, 2009 10:36 am ET

@ Look at the facts..., who said "No terrorist attacks under Bush for 8 years—–that's the bottom line—-his techniques work—Biden has done nothing."

A. There was a terror attack approximately 1 year into the reign of the Bushtard and Cheneybot. You might have heard of it. The record is replete with evidence that they had been warned and had information upon which they failed to act in any manner in an effort to stop it from happening.

B. Even assuming you were correct that "his techniques work," the ends NEVER justify the means. You should note, however, that Iraq was never the breeding ground for terrorists that it is today after we've angered an entire generation of young men. Gitmo angered the entire muslim world. Bush and Cheney are the posterchildren for terrorist recruitment and their behavior galvanized terrorists like never before.

Michael   April 10th, 2009 10:36 am ET

How does Karl Rove know what was said in a "private meeting" between the President and then Senator Biden?

Jeanne H.   April 10th, 2009 10:36 am ET

Got a good laugh out of this one! Kark Rove calling somebody a liar??? wow, he must have forgotten to look at himslef in the mirror.

Don   April 10th, 2009 10:36 am ET

Rove, Bush, and Cheney belong in prison for treason. End of story. Lock 'em up.

JL   April 10th, 2009 10:34 am ET

LOL, LOL, LOL and Karl Rove is what......................................NOT a major LIAR? Wrong, republicans wouldn't tell the TRUTH if "a HIGHER being sat in their laps" and told them to tell the truth. Can you say kettle vs. tea pot! What a joke.

Chi Town   April 10th, 2009 10:32 am ET

They can simply check records and see if they were ever in the Oval Office alone together... My bet is no... Biden's been caught telling tall tales his whole career... man of low integrity.

Which is par for the course. Obama is now saying he didn't bow to the Saudi leader... which is clearly visible on youtube seen by millions... just a gaff maybe... but to come out and lie about it is plain idiocy... so what was that then... just checking out the floor tile?

gwen   April 10th, 2009 10:31 am ET

Rove?? Is this guy's opinion even relevant anymore?? Seriously find a new line of work already!!!!

nc repub   April 10th, 2009 10:31 am ET

we all know Biden is a serial exaggerator (liar) – he is a democrat!

vinh   April 10th, 2009 10:31 am ET

Rove had his days in the sun, he is irrelevant now. Who cares what he thinks or does?

Vicky L   April 10th, 2009 10:31 am ET

The Republicans cannot escape the eight years of disaster that their policies brought upon this country and the world. Rove and his ilk are only good at calling names and seeking personal destruction upon their foes. Rove is nothing more than a big mouth without anything between his ears, just like Limbaugh and many of thee Republican ilk.

Sue in Alabama   April 10th, 2009 10:31 am ET

And we care about what comes out of Karl Rove's mouth~~~ WHY?

Norm   April 10th, 2009 10:31 am ET

Rove should be careful or he'll soon be wearing a suit with horizontal stripes.
PS Karl, don't leave the country, there are loads of folks that want to put you on trial for all your crimes.............

R   April 10th, 2009 10:30 am ET

Carl, carl, carl...you had your fifteen minutes. Please go back to texas and crawl under that rock you used to call home.

GAK   April 10th, 2009 10:30 am ET

We all know Carl Rove is a man of integrity, Why who else would out a CIA operative and then deny any knowledge of having done it.Certainly not Carl!!. It must have been a left wing liberal, not a staunch right christian conservative repub! OH Wait!! it was the liberal press that did it..Of course Carl owrks for the "We make it up and you decide" network so what should we expect from him..He has to get his sound bites in..

Jay   April 10th, 2009 10:30 am ET

Hmmm,

Karl Rove should look at the good 'ol phrase "Those who live in glass houses, shouldn't throw stones" and live by it! He has alot of never calling somebody a liar! He's the biggest liar in the history of this country!

Monrob   April 10th, 2009 10:28 am ET

You've got to admit, “Mr. President, turn and around look behind you. No one is following.” That is one grate line!

Was Rove always behind Bush's behind, to know this didn't happen?

I am inclined to believe Biden and not Piggly Rove!

Howard   April 10th, 2009 10:28 am ET

Hey, Carl!
It's over. You're reputation precedes you. Why don't you just go home and get lost in the crowd, until they subpoena you.
Howard

skeeve   April 10th, 2009 10:27 am ET

I don't know about Biden, nor yet, but pardon me asking... After 8 years of "missunderestimating" do you think Rove and company has any credibility left?

Sharon   April 10th, 2009 10:25 am ET

How can Rove keep a straight face. The Bush administration was 8 years of lies, and Rove was the instigator.

Let's see, who do we trust the most- Rove or Biden?

I will believe Biden long before I would believe anything that comes out of the mouths of the Bush Administration.

Steve Vaught   April 10th, 2009 10:25 am ET

First off it's embarrassing that our government officials are trading taunts like school kids at recess. But more importantly, the Bush crew had their opportunity to show how it's done, and they failed to do so. To now criticize the new crew is just ridiculous. It is the height of audacity.
They need to accept that their scores have been posted and cannot be changed. The new crew is going to have their own record to be judged by but the old crew has shown that they're really not qualified to voice useful opinions.

Larry   April 10th, 2009 10:25 am ET

Rove is a pot calling a kettle black. He and the Bush Administration deceived people for years and he evidently believes that he still has that ability now. O course their deception was for the good of the American people. lmao

John   April 10th, 2009 10:24 am ET

How can anyone claim to know more about a private conversation between two other people? If Rove was not there, it is not possible for him to know if it is a lie or not. Common sense reveal Rove to be a liar, Roves history all but guarantees it!

Tato   April 10th, 2009 10:24 am ET

Who's following Karl Rove? If anything, I remember a very unpopular adviser in the Bush administration that was instrumental in running the US economy into the ground.

Tom   April 10th, 2009 10:24 am ET

Vice President Biden is well known for his loose lips. Karl Rove is as well known for his manipulation of the truth. Biden makes us laugh. Karl has made us hurt big time for a long time yet to come. Give me a clown over a Machiavellian any day. Just pray that President Obama stays well.

Jon   April 10th, 2009 10:23 am ET

All of these comments about Rove are true, but Biden is the worst VP since Quayle. He's not very intelligent and he is a walking gaffe. Although I rarely agree with Obama, I hope for his safety and well being because Biden would be a joke.

donna   April 10th, 2009 10:23 am ET

Biden should take this as a compliment...I mean coming from a skilled "liar and exaggerator" such as Rove who pretty much owns that title has got to mean something, right?

Phil   April 10th, 2009 10:23 am ET

As high-level members of an administration known for deceiving and/or misleading the public as well as gross incompetence and mismanagement, Karl Rove and Dick Cheney have no moral high ground from which to call anyone a liar or to accuse any one of any kind of deception whatsoever.

Virginia   April 10th, 2009 10:22 am ET

Rove and the republicans are getting what they deserve. While they were in power, we were captives of their lies and dirty politics. Now that the public finally realizes how they were duped, and took action to oust their lying criminal behinds, its really amusing to watch.

fed_up_with_politicians123   April 10th, 2009 10:22 am ET

I find it the height of hypocrisy for Carl Rove to call someone else a liar as well as saying they don't live in reality! The entire Bush White House for 8 years lived in their own fantasy world and exaggerated on practically everything (Iraq has weapons of mass destruction!)
Rove was that fat, nerdy kid in school that got picked on, his but kicked everyday, and his lunch money stolen and then when he reached the White House with Bush he took out his anger and humiliation on anyone he perceived as a threat. What a tool!

Joe   April 10th, 2009 10:22 am ET

Biden is in complete fantasy land. Always has been. Rove would shred him up in any debate. Go Rove.. you seem to be the only Republican lately who has got the gonads!

What????   April 10th, 2009 10:21 am ET

How does Mr. Rove know that Mr. Bush and Mr. Biden had "never been alone together"? Given Mr. Rove's history, one might take that with a grain of salt as well as his other comments. Is there anything that this administration can do that will evoke even a modicum of positive response from the GOP? They have taken the word "opposition" to new heights and the majority of Americans (that is how Pres. Obama and VP Biden got elected by the way) should be getting heartily tired of the ongoing assault. What is the GOP saying about the American voting public when they continually oppose the the least thing the duly-elected administration does. And you wonder what the rest of the world thinks about the US................................!

John   April 10th, 2009 10:21 am ET

Rove and cheney need to be arrested tried and hung for crimes against humanity and treason. Publically hung!!

george   April 10th, 2009 10:20 am ET

A little off the subject but it does lend credibility to Our Pres & V.P.Biden was the first politician i ever heard answer a yes or no question with a simple yes or know. That impressed me.Pres.said all Americans should have the same health care as the politicians who work for US.This is only part of the reason i supported them.

Duster   April 10th, 2009 10:20 am ET

Biden has always "embellished" stories to his advantage. Does anyone really listen to him anyway? What do you expect? He is a professional politician just like Rove and Cheney.

The difference is that Biden's lies are easily identifiable and in most cases laughable in their ignorance. Cheney & Rove may have lied, but proving it is significantly more difficult.

williefloyd   April 10th, 2009 10:20 am ET

Reps. continue to make themselves look and sound like fools. VP Biden tells it like it is-unfortunately some people can't handle the truth because it's alien to them.
Karl Rove isn't fit to be in the same room with VP Biden!!

Sniffit   April 10th, 2009 10:20 am ET

@ munchmom, who asked :"So why does Biden continue to bring up and berate how he feels about what Mr. Bush has said?"

Because he deserves it. He's an imbecile and a criminal.

Andres   April 10th, 2009 10:19 am ET

At some point, you have to hope that reality will finally hit these Republicans, but so far, they seem to be getting more and more extreme in their views.

For those people still left in the Republican party, come back to the sane world. Stop believing that eveyone else is evil while you are the paragons of all that is good.

JKT   April 10th, 2009 10:19 am ET

Call me when Biden outs an undercover CIA agent. Until then, Rove has absolutely nothing to say to anyone.

Katie   April 10th, 2009 10:19 am ET

OK _ I will admit that I didn't read the article nor the comments. But just the headline... seriously? Rove as in THE Karl Rove? Am I missing something?? This is actaully a headline I would get on a shirt...

John   April 10th, 2009 10:19 am ET

Biden's story might be exactly true, and it might be just whimsical. Even if just whimsical the message WAS essentially true. If there is a true blowhard here, that would be Mr. Rove.

Former Army   April 10th, 2009 10:19 am ET

In regards to the WMD's it was through the CIA per George Tenant – appointed by Clinton. And congress had the same information. This was a bi-partisan belief. Get you facts straight and quit blaiming Rove.

Joe Jackson   April 10th, 2009 10:18 am ET

Biden has been a liar his entire career. Why change now?

chorse   April 10th, 2009 10:18 am ET

Rove calling someone else a liar??? OH, that's just rich!!!

FL   April 10th, 2009 10:17 am ET

I think they all look pretty stupid and all three of them need to let things go, Cheney, Rove and Biden. Obama picked a loose cannon with Biden. The only reason he chose him was to look like they had someone with an inkling of experience on board. Gray/white hair does not a wise person make, and Biden is living proof. By the way, bald also does not a wise person make, so Cheney and Rove need to stop feeling the need to defend Bush or the previous administration. Everybody needs to move on. There is far more important stuff going on in the country than this silliness.

LMC   April 10th, 2009 10:17 am ET

Rove's statement is unbelievable! Our country was lied to for more than 8 years (I'm counting pre-election lying!). I think of the Bush years as the "deception" years. I just haven't figured out who was the chief "deceiver" between Rove, Cheney, and Bush.

JEFF RHINES   April 10th, 2009 10:16 am ET

Why don't you mention the fact that Biden can't back up any of his comments. He has been asked to release days and times of his supposed comments. He can not verify any of them. Ari and Karl can however.

Steve   April 10th, 2009 10:16 am ET

Joe can clear up this little misunderstanding by producing the date when the encounter happened. From that his story could be verified.

He won't because it didn't happen. Rove is simply pointing out the obvious. He's a serial exaggerator. How many case and points does anyone need.

Mitch Eisenman   April 10th, 2009 10:16 am ET

Karl Rove was part of the most disgraceful administration in U.S. history.
Naturally, he found a forum for his ridiculous, inaccurate diatribe on FOX noise. Would these former Bush lackeys just find a rabbit hole somewhere and climb in?

Joe   April 10th, 2009 10:15 am ET

Leave Rove out of it and focus on the point he's making. Biden never met with Bush alone and Biden is going on major network interviews lying about stuff he's said. So according to you libs that's all fine and dandy because you all hate Bush. Nice logic, I'm glad you all are in power. Just....swell.

Dave B   April 10th, 2009 10:15 am ET

There's no question Rove lied about not outing a CIA agent and he's calling Biden a liar. What a hypocrite.

Laurie H   April 10th, 2009 10:15 am ET

Karl Rove is so full of himself it is sickening. What the Bush administration did to this country for eight years was horrible.

Rove, sit down, shut up and go away!

david   April 10th, 2009 10:15 am ET

This is what he does .and it's why people say he is a genius. He says things or tell others what to say that will get people riled up and focused on everything but the important relevant issues of the day. Remember Willie Horton?

Hase   April 10th, 2009 10:15 am ET

Can we put this guy in Guantanamo and forget the key?
I watch CNN to get some unbiased, expert opinion on issues. Why is this guy even being mentioned anymore?

Joman   April 10th, 2009 10:15 am ET

The Architect shouldn't throw stones at his own glass house...

The beauty of this is that Rove's comments are so blatantly inane that even the least aware voters can see through it.

Keep talking Karl...

Phil   April 10th, 2009 10:15 am ET

This is REALLY rich coming from a "man" that refuses to respect the laws of land and the constitution and testify, under oath and on the record, about the misdeeds and unlawful policies of the administration for which he fronted.

Puhleezzzee!!!

E   April 10th, 2009 10:14 am ET

What a bunch of media lapdogs you all are. Biden IS a serial liar. It takes little effort to find proof that he has done everything from stolen other people's speeches, to slam minorities, and just make stuff up (see nearly any speech he has given and then look up what he passes off for facts). There is lots of video footage, articles and even his own admissions as evidence against Biden's ability to tell the truth. The guy is one tall tale after another. You all read CNN and think you are informed. Rove has to be careful what he says because Republicans do no get the free pass that Democrats get. When specifically did Rove lie...I mean really lie and what is your proof? I don't want to hear that a celebrity/journalist inferred that he lied, I mean really lied. If this outlet and the NY Times are your main source of news there is a lot you do not know.... Go out there and get some info!

do you still agree with having a liar for a VP? forget about rove for a minute, forget about bush, forget about cheney, is it still not wrong for biden to go around making up stupid assignine stories and sound like a dufus? he is the VP for crying out loud, forget about vindicating him by using other dufuses... that is a lame way to defend him...

biden is a dufus.

craig from washington   April 10th, 2009 10:13 am ET

Karl Rove called Joe Biden a “serial exaggerator” and a “liar”? Is Rove from an alternate universe or something?

He should be in jail.

If that is the case, what does that make Rove?

Joe Terrogano   April 10th, 2009 10:12 am ET

There is nothing clever about the personal attacks that hallmarked the Bush campaigns. His "genius" was spreading fear and doubt, a tactic that continues with diminishing effect. Now, these tactics expose the pettiness and shallowness of the Republican Party. Lacking any viable ideas or solutions, they resort to distraction via attack. How impotent and ineffectual.

Veteran in Kansas   April 10th, 2009 10:12 am ET

While President Bush gas stated that he will not second guess the new administration, he has not come out and called Vice President Biden a liar. The only one making headlines attacking the Vice President is Rove a known liar and headline grabber, you decide.

Kevin   April 10th, 2009 10:12 am ET

So Rove is calling Biden a liar. And Rove is himself a huge liar. So logically, that means that Biden is in fact telling the truth.
Now if Rove said Biden was telling the truth, then Biden would actually be a liar.
Consider the source.......

PK California   April 10th, 2009 10:12 am ET

MikeMaz   April 10th, 2009 10:11 am ET

Is Karl Rove even relevant anymore? Who listens to what he even has to say. Yeah Biden tends to pop off once in a while,, what s the big deal. If any spent a lot of time lying it was Bush and his party during 8 years in teh white house.
Rove is desperate to try and stay relevant in country that views guys like him to be ancient an dout of touch. Its pretty sad actually.

Ray   April 10th, 2009 10:11 am ET

Wow, now that's certainly a case of the pot calling the kettle black! Biden's been in politics long enough to have told a lie or two, but why is this an issue now? I guess once you get your rear ends kicked in an election and you don't have answers to America's problems, things like truth and fiscal responsibility become important again.

Mad in Michigan   April 10th, 2009 10:10 am ET

Let's compare Rove's allegation that Biden is in "a made up, fictional world" for discussing a 'conversation' with Bush with the "made up fictional world of "weapons of mass destruction" and the consequences this country has endured. The credibility of Rove is a parallel to Joseph Goebbels. Rove's only venue now is Fox News, a 'news' outlet that would make Goebbels proud.

Biden was a Bad Choice   April 10th, 2009 10:09 am ET

Choosing Joe Biden as his VP was one of the worst mistakes that Obama has made. Biden has become a national joke. I think he's a nice person but his inability to control his mouth shows a lack of impulse control and emotional immaturity. I wouldn't want him to be in charge of the country id something happened to Obama.

Juanita   April 10th, 2009 10:09 am ET

Ann, why is it that you Republicans can't hold a political conversation without name-calling? Keep that stuff on the elementary school playground where it belongs. Sorry your guys ruined the country, but none of us are better off than we were before Bush 43 came into office. President Obama inherited a huge mess and you guys who put Republicans in office need to own up to that and stop your pouting.

Sandra   April 10th, 2009 10:09 am ET

Obama has got to be sorry he chose Biden as his running mate, he does nothing but stick his foot in his mouth on a regular basis. Too bad the liberal press lets him get away with it.

SNAPPA   April 10th, 2009 10:09 am ET

Well, Joe was right wasn't he Mr. Rove? There was NO ONE following bush. Why is it that people who do not matter anymore do not know when to shut up?

Everything Joe said was the truth and the truth hurts Mr. Rove dosen't it? Crawl back into the hole you were in before the bush debacle and let us forget how you and your idiots almost ruined the US.

Serial white-collar criminal comes to mind when I think of Karl Rove. I will be glad when enough years have passed that Mr. Rove, Mr. Cheney and several others from the former regime become irrelevant, forgotten and silent.

Jon in Texas   April 10th, 2009 10:08 am ET

As it turns out, Biden was the FIRST mistake Obama made when choosing his running mate, cabinet, staff, etc.

Biden has certainly not done himself any favors since being named as Obama's running mate. He repeatedly is involved in attacking the previous administration rather than looking forward to helping cure some of the country's ills.

Although he's not the leader in name, he most certainly is the leader in spirit of the Democratic Hate Machine (formerly known as the DNC).

Look at the facts.....   April 10th, 2009 10:08 am ET

No terrorist attacks under Bush for 8 years-–that's the bottom line--his techniques work-Biden has done nothing.

Obama can't even rescue an American ship and its Captain held hostage by 4 Somalis in motor boat. Obama is a joke and a clown.
He's laughed at by every foreign leader he's met, especially the Saudi King whom he bowed down to in an ugly act of subservience.

Hmmmm....   April 10th, 2009 10:08 am ET

Who, with any kind of mind, listens to Biden.
Biden is good for a couple reasons. He proves to us all that we can become anything we want to become.

A they say- every town has a character- Joe is the countries #1 character- good thing everyone overllooked and held their noses when they voted. I donl;t say this to be mean...Joe is a very good friend of mine. :)

Grimm   April 10th, 2009 10:08 am ET

VP Biden's time would be better spent trying to ease the pains this country is currently under. Let Rove and former VP Cheney say what they want. When it's wrong, simply counter with the facts. When it's personal, ignore them. If by some chance they're right, then acknowledge it and continue to move forward.

I for one hope they just go away. Let's help them out with this by ignoring them. CNN, you've got to do your part by cutting this type of stuff out of your posts.

John Starnes Tampa Florida   April 10th, 2009 10:08 am ET

And why is Karl Rove not in jail for ignoring Congressional subpoenas? Let's see what happens to you or me if we blow off a subpoena! Rove was instrumental in the Bush/Cheney eight year long trashing of America on nearly every level.....just what must one do to be charged with treason if he has not?

WaitandSeeIndie   April 10th, 2009 10:07 am ET

Not only is Biden a liar (and a buffoon), but also a plagiarizer. Some of you do remember a few years back, when he was running for President, and he used someone elses speach. That sort of ended his run for the White House. But as all good politicians (either party) and rats do – he slipped in through the back door. He does like to make himself important though. Such a shame, he isn't at all. They use him for a doorstop at the White House. I hear he's doing a great job.

Tom in Wheaton, Illinois   April 10th, 2009 10:07 am ET

some of us KNOW:
"Some of us know that Biden and Obama have jepordized our safety with their changes,"

So you thought you were "safe" when most of the world thought we had idiots running the country and, in fact, the country was being run aground by the likes of Rove, Cheney, and Madoff, not to mention unregulated mortgage broker sharks, out-of-control insurance companies and most of our armed forces tied up fighting a hopeless war in Iraq and largely unable to respond to actual threats?

Most of us want nothing to do with that kind of "safety". The election proved that. The 2010 election will prove that most of us do not want obstructionist Republicans in Congress, either.

M   April 10th, 2009 10:07 am ET

To all the partisans here, regardless of what you think of Bush, his administration, or his advisors, it does not change the fact that the CURRENT VP is fabricating (I'm being kind here) stories.

So where's the "Change you can believe in!"

Dutch/Bad Newz, VA   April 10th, 2009 10:07 am ET

Absolutely amazing that this entirely dishonest and twisted man has the nerve to say these things. I was a Republican for my entire life until Karl Rove, Bush Cheney etc made me into a Democrat. I am one of millions. Bless Biden and Obama for getting the country back on track. As the others said; he belongs in jail along with Scooter.

Robert   April 10th, 2009 10:07 am ET

Why does the current VP feel the need to slam his predecessors? Shouldn't he be looking forward and working to move the country towards his agenda? Biden is a piece of trash. I wish nothing but the best of luck to the Obama administration, but they will soon learn that this job is not a cake walk. Biden better keep his mouth shut because what goes around comes back around and he's going to need all the friends he can get, not alienate them. Trust me when I say that Obama did not win the presidency because of his pick of vice president. He could have done a lot better. Next to Ted Kennedy, Biden is the second biggest blow hard and worthless politician in Washington. As Mr. Rove said you better leave your little fantasy world and come back to reality. Your 15 minutes of fame is fleeting. I hope Mr. Obama hasn't already regretted choosing Biden as V.P. Biden, let me tell you.....you were not even worthy to be in the same room as President Bush and I highly doubt that President Bush would have ever let a piece of scum like you in the same room as he was in. I'm sure if he did, he probably had the rugs steam cleaned and the room fumigated after you left!

"The reason I am saying that there was a link between Al Quaeda and Saddam is because there was a link between Al Quaeda and Saddam" – Pres. G. W. Bush
As well as hundreds of other quotes one can dig up in just ten minutes that were lies, lies, and more lies from the Bush administration.
So, Mr. Rove, you want to rethink your “…You should not exaggerate and lie like this when you are the Vice President of the United States?”

End Of An Error   April 10th, 2009 10:04 am ET

I doubt the Joe Biden has gone around telling the world that he had concrete evidence that Iraq had WMDs and was behind the 9/11 attacks.

Those beautiful nuggets of "truth" came out of the Bush administration and have cost almost 5000 American lives, trillions of dollars, some 20,000+ significant injuries, and we have no idea how many Iraqi lives.

And Karl Rove wants to talk about "exaggerations" and "lies"? Tell Rove to come back when he himself is without sin.

Gene Choi   April 10th, 2009 10:04 am ET

I dont agree with Karl Rove on a lot of issues, but I understand his thoughts about the vice president. If you review the vice president's history, you will see many examples of his exaggerations whether it be on the campaign trail or in law school.

douglas hatch   April 10th, 2009 10:04 am ET

This b.s. just sickens me. We have so many problems in this country and I am sick of people like Rove who not only do nothing to solve the problems, but openly attack those who ARE trying to do something. Rove and other Republicans need to get on the solution bandwagon. If they aren't part of the solution, they are part of the problem. And they Are CLEARLY part of the problem.

jjr   April 10th, 2009 10:03 am ET

Okay, do I think that Rove should be calling Biden out, no but do I think that Biden is full of it, yes, give me a break. Does anyone really think that really ever happened? I don't think that Biden has enough guts to talk to the President of the US like that.

John in Ohio   April 10th, 2009 10:02 am ET

Harvey Ostroff   April 10th, 2009 10:02 am ET

Rove, the worst prevaricator of the past decade calling Biden an... oooh... exaggerator! How dare he. There was hardly an issue during his campaign assaults that bore an iota of truth, from Kerry's swift boat record to Nobel winner Gore's perceived weakness to Obama's "cozy" relationship with... another oooh ... terrorist turned university professor William Ayers. He is the exemplar we should all turn to when referring to Orwellian Newspeak. Next he'll tell us that he is six foot 9 and that Cheney never even worked for Enron. Give me a break!

Bartholomew   April 10th, 2009 10:01 am ET

Karl begins to feel like a loser. The architect apparently feels that he's left out of the stimulus, and now doesn't have easy money coming from the WH anymore, as everything has to be transparent. I understand his anger, of not able to earn those money he earned during the Bush years when things aren't that transparent. Looks like Obama-Biden are winning the transparency war.

Randy Roberts   April 10th, 2009 10:01 am ET

KARL ROVE IS FULL OF HOT AIR   April 10th, 2009 10:01 am ET

Wow, this is the best political equivalent of "calling the kettle black." Karl Rove has done more harm to this nation in the years he saddled up next to George Bush, than thousands of others assembled have done. Joe Biden has done more good for this nation during his terms in the US Senate, New Cassel County (DE), and in his short-stint as VPOTUS than Karl Rove could ever do even if Rove dedicated the next 50 years to trying to redeem himself from the squalid record of obfuscation, lying, manipulation and contempt of Congress conduct.

Cheryl From Alabama   April 10th, 2009 10:01 am ET

OK CNN, stop giving credence to the comments of people that have already lost credibility with the American people. Who cares what Karl Rove says? No one!!! I repeat, No One! Stop trying to make a controversial issue out of everything. Next your reporters will put a mik in Biden's face in hopes that he'll return the tete-a tete. The American people are ready to move on. There's enough cynicism in the world without your adding to it.

Stop seeking out individuals who will counterpoint every issue because it's a democratic one or one brought forth by the Obama Administration. Try helping America recover by being less "controversial."

A job well done   April 10th, 2009 10:00 am ET

I find it supremely ironic that Karl Rove is calling others liars and exaggerators, especially on the 6th anniversary of the fall of Sadaam Hussein. Mind you, it was less than a month later that GW Bush declared "Mission Accomplished" in Iraq. Of course, we are now in the "last throws" of the insurgency...

"We have removed an ally of al Qaeda, and cut off a source of terrorist funding. And this much is certain: No terrorist network will gain weapons of mass destruction from the Iraqi regime, because that regime is no more." GW Bush, May 2, 2003

Clugs   April 10th, 2009 9:59 am ET

As much as I dislike Rove, I'd have to agree that Biden's comments just don't ring very true. He would have had a lot of private meetings with Bush and in every one of them had this great one liner ready for exactly what Bush was about to say. Biden can be a bit of a blowhard and many times it seems like his mouth is ignoring what his brain should be telling it to say.

No doubt BIden has a streak of BS a mile wide but Rove would actively pushed a unjustified war under totally false pretenses that he had to know where questionable at best.....

Whatever....he isn't doing any real convencing, the only people that would take this as truth are the same ones who watch FAUX news for news inside of comic relief. I guess the rest of us rational people who actually have a memory will just sit back and laugh....

At this rate the Repubs will be in the wilderness for the next several decades...good luck with regional party you are forming

Dave   April 10th, 2009 9:57 am ET

Karl Rove is a proven liar and if the country had the stomach for it they would try him for the Valerie Plame fiasco. Why is this man even relevant ?

Pat   April 10th, 2009 9:57 am ET

That's the pot calling the kettle black! I don't know about Joe Biden, but I do know this: Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, and George W. Bush are all liars. That's a proven fact. Remember weapons of mass destruction? 'Nuff said.

Geoff   April 10th, 2009 9:57 am ET

Karl Rove calling anyone a liar or "blowhard" is hypocritical at the least.

Shorty   April 10th, 2009 9:57 am ET

Another mouth from the past , this country is far better without the Dick Chaey's and the clever magician, Carl Rover. Looking forward to seeing this man as he is challenged by the congressional hearings regarding his disgraceful behavior.....

Pat Overland Park KS   April 10th, 2009 9:56 am ET

This is coming from a person that spread lies and exaggerations and pushed fear mongering for 8 years during the Bush administration. If this ain't calling the kettle black I don't know what.

Mr. Davidson   April 10th, 2009 9:56 am ET

From the criminal mind that gave this country a war in Iraq because the oil interests were fed up dealing with Saddam and middle brokers. Every lie was fully known to be and proven to be a lie about Iraq when it was spoken Rove was the main instigator for Cheney and Bush so he must know the genre well.

TX   April 10th, 2009 9:56 am ET

And we should believe anything this criminal has to say because...

proud army navy mom   April 10th, 2009 9:56 am ET

“He’s a serial exaggerator. If I was being unkind I’d say he’s a liar, but it is a habit he ought to drop,”

Fat, red-faced Rove is surely talking about himself right??? I am soooo tired of hearing these psycho repugs lie, deny and criticize.

Brad   April 10th, 2009 9:56 am ET

You have got to be kidding. Sure, Biden is a blowhard. But for Rove to call Biden a liar is beyond the pale. This from a man who's entire career is built on deceit. Rove should be in prison.

Robert   April 10th, 2009 9:55 am ET

“…You should not exaggerate and lie like this when you are the Vice President of the United States.”

This line is too funny.

sharon, newport news, virginia   April 10th, 2009 9:55 am ET

P.S. Being Vice President never stopped Dick Cheney from lying!!!!!

Enlightened Voter   April 10th, 2009 9:55 am ET

Liar? As in the lie that was told to the american people to start the Iraq war???

fred   April 10th, 2009 9:55 am ET

All politicians are liars. Get used to it, people.

Kevin in NoDak   April 10th, 2009 9:55 am ET

Just one more thing that Rove is lying about.

twiddly   April 10th, 2009 9:55 am ET

Hey Karl, you should not exaggerate and lie when you're a presidential advisor... like you did for 8 years [and continue to do].

Kat   April 10th, 2009 9:55 am ET

Rove having the gall to call ANYONE a liar and a blowhard is hilarious to me, considering all the lies he's told in his time in politics!

Simmy   April 10th, 2009 9:55 am ET

Rove is used to dishing out dirt, but he can't handle the truth....VP Biden told FP Bush, who had called himself a leader, to look behind him – no one was following.....What a line! I can understand why Rove is peeved.....VP Biden rolled all over them with truth......

Rove, Limbaugh, and their prodigies, are the bibles of the Fox newsy-type people. They believe nothing until it's belched out by Fox and their right wing extremist friends. Then it becomes gospel.

Natasha   April 10th, 2009 9:55 am ET

Let start the process of having this lunatic locked up. Can you say, the mastermind of WAR CRIME.

Michael   April 10th, 2009 9:54 am ET

Why is CNN "awaiting a response from the vice president's office?" This is Carl Rove vs Joe Biden. Both have reputations: one for bending (or rather breaking) the truth and the other for gaffes. This hands off approach is what drives CNN to last place.

Tony   April 10th, 2009 9:54 am ET

Biden can prove Rove is a blowhard if he can give the us the day or approx day so they can go pull the tapes/ notes so we can see that he is not a liar. If he cannot, then he needs to apologize to the US and President Bush for his lying.

Remember that he was the one who call Cheney less than a statesman and now he dresses down the President in order to make himself look good. HMMMMMM

Bottom line – show us the notes........... or you are a liar. Plain and simple!

sharon, newport news, virginia   April 10th, 2009 9:54 am ET

Wow if that isn't the pot calling the kettle black and let me add criminal to Mr. rove's own description. All the backhanded, seedy, sleazy acts that have been used by you to get what you and your chronies wanted, and you have the nerve to call anyone a liar You are a bottom feeder. You should be in jail – you are the one who had valerie Plame;s name revealed to get back at her husband and your buddy Scooter took the blame. I was hoping you would just disappear but like a bad penny you just keep coming back. Your hopes of creating a Republican party that totally controls the government will not happen and you are one of the major reasons why it wont. The American voter got tired of your dishonest, activities and said enough is enough. So maybe if you keep on spreading your venom, in 2010 hopefully there won't be any Republicans re=elected.

Doug, New Jersey   April 10th, 2009 9:54 am ET

Well the facts show that a person cannot be a liberal Democrat without being a liar so nothing shoocking there. It is just funny how far the vice president goes with it, but I guess you can just blatently lie if you are lib, the brainwashed Obama-bots will defend the lies and call any truth sayer a radical hater. Almost all lib Democrats today have a sense of pride in defending and promoting lies while attacking and censoring the truth. Lies and hate are the basis of the Dem party these days.

Robin in SC   April 10th, 2009 9:54 am ET

Republicans keep sinking lower...and lower...and lower...

Teschman   April 10th, 2009 9:54 am ET

"You should not exaggerate and lie like this when you are Vice President of the United State" This coming from a professional liar is laughable. Biden was on record several years ago regarding his statement to GWB. Rove has been caught lying time after time during his dubious career as a political operative.
Who's going to believe Turdblossom besides those few loyal minions that are still clinging to GW's soiled legacy.

John in MN   April 10th, 2009 9:53 am ET

Hmmm, if truly Karl Rove believes that Biden is a liar, I say it takes one to know one...... I will follow someone who exaggerates, but not someone like Rove who is a habitual liar and a master of character assasination and defamation.....

Creative Woody   April 10th, 2009 9:53 am ET

Pot. Kettle.

I'd be careful, Mr. Rove, about opening up a discussion on lies and exaggerations.

Patrick   April 10th, 2009 9:53 am ET

The pot calls the kettle black again.

Linda from Minnesota   April 10th, 2009 9:52 am ET

Mr. Magic   April 10th, 2009 9:52 am ET

“…You should not exaggerate and lie like this when you are the Vice President of the United States.”

You mean saying things like

"We have found wepons of mass descrutction in Iraq"
-or-
"Mission Accomplished"
-or-
"The econmy is not in a down turn"

Oh wait, those were lies told by our former President

alvino   April 10th, 2009 9:52 am ET

Too bad Bush and Cheney both exaggerated and lied as president and vice president of the United States.

Come on Karl, testify. Let's see who the liar really is.

Natasha/Ohio Democrat   April 10th, 2009 9:52 am ET

Are you kidding me?

carole   April 10th, 2009 9:52 am ET

For the good of the Republican party, Mr. Rove, Rush Limbaugh,
and others of their belief system should "stand down" and let
other party leaders emerge. As far as many former Republicans
like myself are concerned, it is their tone, their machinations, and
their rhetoric which are pushing both moderate Republicans and
Independents away. They have had their time and it did not
go well. Move on, gentlemen.

CW, St. Paul   April 10th, 2009 9:51 am ET

Pot. Kettle. Black.

Brandon   April 10th, 2009 9:51 am ET

For Karl Rove to call someone a liar is the highest compliment. It's like Satan saying someone is evil. His administration lied us into a war. Why he isn't trading cigarettes to protect his lying backside in prison still escapes me.

Wake-me-when-it's-over   April 10th, 2009 9:51 am ET

It is sad that Vice President Biden is not comfortable enough with himself, that he has to project himself out there as a 'blow-hard'.
We have a weak President and an even weaker Vice President. I remain proud of my country, but with the president's recent criticisms abroad about America, I am ashamed of my President. This is not the first time an American President has made the United States the
pity of other nations. Only President Clinton brought the country down
lower than President Obama has. God blesses America, even when
we don't deserve it. He would bless us more if our President had real faith in him.

ap   April 10th, 2009 9:51 am ET

Coming from Karl Rove, that is just TOO FUNNY! LOL! If this was April 1, I would have thought this was an April Fool's joke. HYSTERICAL!!!!

Big Ed   April 10th, 2009 9:51 am ET

And Rove is calling who a liar? Rove refuses to go before Congress ad face the qestioning about his lying! What a moron!

Da Professor   April 10th, 2009 9:51 am ET

WOW! What an example of "it takes one to know one".

"Rove calls Biden a 'serial exaggerator' and a 'liar'"

A. Most politicians lie and exaggerate.
B. Rove taught Bush and Cheney how to lie consistently and often
C. The Republican now have an agenda of lying continually about Obama and his team, and that appears to far overshadow anything they might have to offer to resolve our nation's problems

johnny   April 10th, 2009 9:51 am ET

After the way the Bush administration deceived the American people for the past 8 years, about EVERYTHING, Karl Rove, and Cheney, and all of their other cronies need to just shut up. The people of this country rejected them, rejected their ideas, and don't care anymore about the "legacy".

Matt   April 10th, 2009 9:51 am ET

Does Rove honestly believe he's going to win this one? Even if Biden were lying, the American population isn't going to give the benefit of the doubt to the Bush administration. Cheney and Rove need to take their lead from bush and slink into their dubious place in history.

phoenix86   April 10th, 2009 9:51 am ET

And Rove is being nice. Biden was an awful excuse for a Senator and already is proving to be one of the worst Vice Presidents ever.

Biden is a pathalogical liar.

Bret   April 10th, 2009 9:51 am ET

Karl Rove should know- he is an expert when it comes to lying and exaggerating.

Ambrose Smith, Borrego Springs, California   April 10th, 2009 9:50 am ET

Rove refuses to testify under oath.

Who is the liar? Who is dishonest?

Suddenly you can't shut Rove up? And why doesn't Bush defend himself?

Sharon Northern Virginia   April 10th, 2009 9:50 am ET

I am hoping the Vice President's office will not responsed to Rove at all. Rove and Rush deserve each other. Grummpy old men is what they are.

Right Leaning Independent   April 10th, 2009 9:50 am ET

Based on Biden's tendency to exagerate, I would assume that Rove is right this time. Biden needs to begin acting more vice-presidential!

dustbunny   April 10th, 2009 9:50 am ET

What a dork we have for a V.P.

Farnk, Las Vegas   April 10th, 2009 9:50 am ET

Wow, here's the biggest joke of the year, Rove calling someone else a liar! No one in political history has lied more that Karl Rove, in the past, in the present and no doubt in the future. Here's a couple of old sayings; If you look up the word "liar" in the dictionary, there's a picture of Karl Rove; How can you tell if Karl Rove is telling a lie, his lips are moving.

This guy is just outright disgraceful, to the GOP, our great country and to the human race.

Foreign observer   April 10th, 2009 9:50 am ET

US are in worst shape since World War and this guy sees exaggerations ? What´s the world he lives in ?

Martin Horowitz   April 10th, 2009 9:50 am ET

Joe,
Let it rest. Karl Rove is a calculating, clever, and ruthless. His main strategy is to create doubt about a topic's or individual's credibility.
If anything, turn his rhetotic back ob n abd about him.
M

Bronze medal of bastardry   April 10th, 2009 9:50 am ET

Isn't it about time for the investigations of these guys to finally happen? Then we'll see who the serial liars are.

Chaz   April 10th, 2009 9:49 am ET

Rove? Calling someone, anyone, a liar? You've gotta be kidding! That lying war criminal doesn't deserve to be loose, much less denigrating the comments of our Vice President.

Tony   April 10th, 2009 9:49 am ET

If it comes down to lies, I guess Cheney and Rove have forgotten about the WMDs.....that is a lie that no -one in their sane mind can forgive and if Biden is asked to "get back to reality" why was it not requested from former (beautiful word) president Bush???

Brad   April 10th, 2009 9:49 am ET

“…You should not exaggerate and lie like this when you are the Vice President of the United States.”

I actually agree that some of Biden's comments seem outrageous, but Mr. Rove, where was this comment from you the last 8 years?

dan holiday   April 10th, 2009 9:48 am ET

Rove could not be more right. Joe Joe the lying McBiden lies more than anyone in Washington. The guy has a foot permanently in his mouth. I guess the good thing about McBiden is that you truly know when he is lying. How? He says something. Most politicians have learned how to hide lies...Joe Joe? He just comes out and tells them without any kind of veils...lol. Now I know there will be people bashing Rove on this, but come on people...McBiden's lies are well documented both in print and visual media. The guy is a moron, but at least he bows to no one – unlike his boss Barry. Gosh I can't wait till next election cycle. The Obamacrats are so screwed. This party is self-destruction so fast. Their numbers are down and the whole blame Bush thing is no longer an option. I guess the will have to act like grown-ups and start being accountable for their own actions...lol. Any Republican 2010-2012. : )

Mitch   April 10th, 2009 9:48 am ET

There are so many things wrong with the fact Rove opened his mouth on this. 8 years of wrong to be exact. The GOP is sinking to new lows.

Mika   April 10th, 2009 9:48 am ET

xman   April 10th, 2009 9:47 am ET

Is he talking about Biden or were these comments directed Cheney? If there meant for Cheney there about 7 years late. Rove where were you then ? If you are so worried about lies and a "serial exaggerator” and a “liar”

Tim   April 10th, 2009 9:47 am ET

Everytime you see this man he has his finger in the air like all should give him their direct attention. Why is this crook still in the news? He should be in prison

Lisa   April 10th, 2009 9:47 am ET

Pot, meet kettle.

JonDie   April 10th, 2009 9:46 am ET

Rove is both a traitor and a war criminal. He should be tried in US courts, convicted and sentenced to life in prison, then he should be sent to the Hague. Give them criminals Hades, Joe.

Ann   April 10th, 2009 9:45 am ET

This man is unbelievable. He should never ever allow himself to refer to a person as a serial liar or exaggerater, when this is his job description. He re-invented the spin to the point where the ENTIRE REPUBLICAN PARTY not only have their talking points, but they BELIEVE THE SPIN.

Karl. Shut your mouth and be grateful you are not currently imprisoned.

Joe Biden is a baffoon, he always was and always will be. I'm glad Rove is calling him out on this. The Obama admin has to stop attacking and blaming the Bush Admin for everything. Stay focused on the problems at hand

Ann   April 10th, 2009 9:43 am ET

Everyone should remember the comments during Obama's selection of the VP. Biden is a known "loose canon" as reported by every news channel including CNN. He has not been seen much because of his diarrhea of the mouth syndrome so Rove called this one right but I'm sure the ObamaNation LaLa land dwellers with slam Rove because you can't say anything negative about THE ONE or his minions.

Me in Big D   April 10th, 2009 9:43 am ET

That's right you tell him Karl! Let this liberals have it ...

Kent   April 10th, 2009 9:40 am ET

At least Joe' exaggerations aren't sending thousands of US soldiers to their deaths like the big lie Bush told the American people. Do you think Karl had any input into the WMD lie about Iraq?

Sirnose   April 10th, 2009 9:39 am ET

The GOP would be wise to tell Rove, Cheney and other Bush administration alumni to SHUT UP AND GO AWAY!!!!

As long as the Rove and Cheney keep fighting a war of words with the Obama administration the more they appear to be the face and voice of the GOP.

Republicans know in their hearts that if they want to have chance to reclaim the majority in 2010 or the white house in 2012 they have to turn the page on the Bush years. Unfortunatley, Rove and Cheney are so delusional they think the Bush years were a rousing success and they are determined to make sure that when voters think of the Republican party they think of the Bush administration.

Hugh C. R.   April 10th, 2009 9:38 am ET

It really seems far-fetched that the current Vice-President would have made such a disparaging remark to the then President of the United States. Vice President Biden should cut the war of words with Cheney et al. about the past and concentrate to help heal the Nation. What he is doing is very counter-productive!
Hugh.

SC   April 10th, 2009 9:37 am ET

Is he serious? Isn't Carl Rove calling the kettle black when he calls Biden a liar ? Didn't " HIS " white house staff lie about the CIA cover up and the torture ? OMG we still abide by the Genva Convention MR Rove. I know it must be hard as an ex administration to take the heat, but you are the team that left us in the mess. Tell me I am wrong but when has a past administrtion bashed a current one this hard before. Talk about being classless or even a poor sport. The days of Carl Rove and Dick Cheney are done. Be thankful your not in from of an ethics or criminal board.

i don't know if V.P Biden talked to bush or not, but in either case he was right, just look at our country thanks to the bush administration, our President and V.P have already shown more leadership in their short time than the last administration did in their entire 8 long years.

Nora Leonard   April 10th, 2009 9:32 am ET

Why should anyone listen to what Karl Rove has to say? This man should be behind bars.

Oh really??   April 10th, 2009 9:32 am ET

Carl Rove,AKA porky pig, has no room to judge or say a word about anyone. As far as I am concerned-and millions more just like me, strongly feel he should be in jail!
