Alaska lawmakers take aim at timing of Palin trip

Palin will speak at a pro-life dinner in Indiana this week.
Palin will speak at a pro-life dinner in Indiana this week.

(CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is coming under fire from state lawmakers, including members of her own party, over her decision to spend half of the final three days of the legislative session to headline a pro-life dinner in Indiana.

"There are some concerns [in the Capitol] about the focus of our chief executive because she's taken a speaking engagement in Indiana for a 36-hour period with only 72 hours left in the legislative session," state Rep. Jay Ramras of Fairbanks told the Anchorage Daily News.

Earlier, Palin had opted to skip a number of events, including the annual Conservative Political Action conference in Washington. Her aides had cited the demands of the state's legislative session. This weekend, she defended her decision. "I'll be gone for one day. I already have been on record with lawmakers on this," she told the ADN. "I told lawmakers, you know what, 'Please, don't make me feel that I have to ask you permission, lawmakers, to leave the capital city.' "

Two thorny issues remain unresolved as the session draws to a close. Lawmakers want to accept all the stimulus money that has been offered the state, while Palin wants to reject about a third of the nearly $931 million the federal government has offered. And her controversial pick for attorney general - the outspoken Wayne Anthony Ross - has not yet been confirmed.

Sarah has tasted the limelight, including the expensive clothing expense account. Now she's governor of Alaska in name only; her celebrity status is what she is interested in promoting.

The in-fighting continues! Just like a bunch of dogs fighting for scraps. If Palin becomes a presidential candidate in 2012, the GOP becomes a third party.

All Sarah Palin cares about is her political future in national politics. What's really sad is how deluded this woman is about her abilities and popularity outside the few weirdo fanatics and sycophants she has following her around.

I feel especially bad for Alaska, not only for her inattentiveness but also for the embarrassment she has caused the state.

Would someone please take her off our hands? She is the epitome of the "it's all about me" personality. She's an embarrassment to this life-long Republican and 40-year Alaska resident.

Please Sarah, stay out there in the national spotlight. The Woolly Mammoths venture closer to the tar pit everyday.

    Sarah,

Enjoy your time in the limelight, because come election day, the people of Alaska are going to toss your butt out of the governor's mansion and into the snow.

Heck, Alaska is better off without her presence. The nation needs her making the circuit preaching family values, the virtues of abstinence, and fiscal prudence (having the RNC buy your $150,000 election cycle wardrobe). Perhaps she'll tell the residents of Indiana about the ethics involved in discharging a police officer who refused to be brow beaten over a subordinate trooper who was an ex-brother in law of the Governor of Alaska, and how that resulted in Alaskans spending thousands of dollars on a perfectly appropriate legislative ethics investigation of Gov. Palin; she of the lying type "I sold the state jet on eBay," when she hadn't done so at all.

Hey, Palin doesn't need to keep herself in the news, the left does that for her. The left is scared witless of Palin; otherwise, they would just let her fade away.

People of Alaska...there is a simple solution. Next election day choose any candidate except Palin. Remember that as she goes off on these long national campaign trips, she will be coming home to more and more grandchildren, so that will be fun to watch...

Didn't Palin campaign on her abilities to govern? Why then is she skipping out on the last 3 days of Alaska legislative session?

Answer: Because all she cares about is building her conservative cred by speaking at a pro-life conference.

Wouldn't it be more pro-life to take care of the people who elected her by actually doing the job she's being paid to do?

Palin will be absent from Alaska for 36 hours. Obama has been absent from leadership since 21 January. Alaska got the better deal.

Actally, Sarah has spent most of her time fueding with her daughter's boyfriend and his family. A family that she has tabbed, ' trailer trash '. She is not fit to hold public office anywhere in the United States. She's an embarassment to the citzens of America.

Governor Palin is riding her moment of fame, but it is more her moment of infamy. The Katie Couric interview revealed to the voting populous a dingbat who should not even be the Governor of a state. She was a major weapon for President Obama's victory in November. I think President Obama would have defeated John McCain no matter what considering the bad image the republicans have left everyone with and the fact that McCain had no real vision for governing the country. But Palin, she help sew up the win evident in states that have voted republican since the 60s voting democrat, Virginia and North Carolina. Plus states that had voted republican more often the last 30 years, Florida, Ohio, Nevada.

I truly hope the stale, dried up, played-out republican party has the idiocy to make Sarah Palin a front-runner candidate for 2012. Talking about laughing it up on election night.

So when are the good people of Alaska going to get around to recalling this incompetent fool? It should be apparent by now that she cares more about promoting her agenda of theocracy rather than representative government, and clearly, economic issues are way above her head. In California, when we realized we had a governor who was more interested in promoting his own survival than than the best interests of the state that he was elected to govern, we had a recall election and replaced him.

If you folks up there want a kool-aid cultist religious fantatic living off the public trough, that's your business. I know too many Alaskans, however, who have had enough of Palin and her attitude. Do your duty and get the process moving to get rid of her, and don't be intimidated by radical religious extremists, whether they call themselves taliban of the Assemblies of God. You deserve better.

Wow. She is such a lousy person. She should be asking for their permission to leave, if there is unfinished business that requires her attention. If you don't get your homework done, you can't go to the prom. Whining again about the other events she missed because she "had to work". Get over it. You're a citizen with a job, just like the rest of us.

Have read the various Alaskan newpapers and Sara's popularity
seems to be on the decline.
Her decision to not accept certain stimulous funds, includes many
millions for special needs children. You know, the same that she
was so outraged about when our President misspoke.
What's so sad is people here in the "lower" states even give her
an ounce of attention. She lets her ambition, quest for the limelight
overshadow family and her obligations. What a ridiculous phony
    she is.
