Alaska lawmakers take aim at timing of Palin trip

Palin will speak at a pro-life dinner in Indiana this week.

(CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is coming under fire from state lawmakers, including members of her own party, over her decision to spend half of the final three days of the legislative session to headline a pro-life dinner in Indiana.

"There are some concerns [in the Capitol] about the focus of our chief executive because she's taken a speaking engagement in Indiana for a 36-hour period with only 72 hours left in the legislative session," state Rep. Jay Ramras of Fairbanks told the Anchorage Daily News.

Earlier, Palin had opted to skip a number of events, including the annual Conservative Political Action conference in Washington. Her aides had cited the demands of the state's legislative session. This weekend, she defended her decision. "I'll be gone for one day. I already have been on record with lawmakers on this," she told the ADN. "I told lawmakers, you know what, 'Please, don't make me feel that I have to ask you permission, lawmakers, to leave the capital city.' "

Two thorny issues remain unresolved as the session draws to a close. Lawmakers want to accept all the stimulus money that has been offered the state, while Palin wants to reject about a third of the nearly $931 million the federal government has offered. And her controversial pick for attorney general - the outspoken Wayne Anthony Ross - has not yet been confirmed.

Palin does as she pleases. She is smitten with herself and is working to promote her national aspirations, never mind her responsibilities to her state!

Palin vs. Newt for the primary in 2012. I mean if the GOP is going down, it might as well go down in a spectacular blaze of willfully ignorant, hopelessly stubborn, and destructively arrogant glory.

Sarah Palin was and continues to be the GOPs Jumping the Shark moment.

It's all about priorities and hiding out when a vote is taken on the stimulus. That way, she can avoid any personal responsibility.

This is like any other employee who is leaving one job for another with one foot out of the door. Just because she said she is a pit bull with lipstick, you expected better?

That's it, Sarah, keep focusing on stupidness and reminding us why we're so thankful you're not the VP. Shudder.

I'm sure everything Tim Kaine does running around the country is in the best interest of Virginia. Oops, I forgot he's a liberal and it's OK cause nobody will report that.

Oh, please. They can't blame her for their inability to get their work done on time. She's on record on both issues and will be back before they dismiss. If this is the worst thing Alaskans have to worry about, they've got it pretty good.

You know, with as many problems there are in the US and the world, and having an inexperienced Marxist President, you'd think there would be more important things to put on this than Gov. Palin.

The only reason I think CNN and the main stream media keep hammering her and her family is because the liberals can't stand a good looking female politician. They are intimidated by her and have a severe inferiority complex (democrates do).

I think someone needs to decide if they are a elected Governor or running for President in 2012 and just make the choice now and stop wasting Alaskan Taxpayers time and money, they elected her, not Indiana or this country as a whole, just the state on Alaska voters.

Palin never met a pronoun she didn't like. My daughter, SHE is pretty. My house, IT is big. Our president, HE is a democrat. She even did it in this story except she revesed the pronoun with the noun. She says, "Don't make me feel that I have to ask your permission, LAWMAKERS, to leave the capital city." This drives me insane and I was hoping that the American public would recognize this terrible habit back during the campaign. I guess they did.

Everybody just stop criticizing Sarah Palin. Can't anyone see that she is putting all that 'executive experience' to work? She knows what she is doing.

Wow. And the Republicans wanted us to believe that this woman was qualified to run this country? They complain about our President not being focused but this woman can't even stay focused on the problems in her own State.

At the Convention Mrs. Palin should have actually said, 'I guess being a governor is kinda like being a community organizer, except the community organizer actually gets the job done.' Governor Palin, get to work!

So let me make sure I understand this. The two "thorny" issues are items that the State Legislature has to finish, and they need Gov. Palin to what...hold their hands? Her position on those two items are known and it sounds like the Legislature hasn't come up wih any kind of counter proposal for her to consider, and they simply need to vote on her nominee. Please! That is so weak. Stop trying to tear the woman down...you're trying too hard and it's making you look so bad!

Didn't she give obama a hard time for missing out on important session dates? Oh I guess it just does't apply to her when it is to her benefit now does it, can we all say hypocrite.

What amuses me the most is that she is so strident about her pro-life position yet she has a special needs child and a 17-year old with a newborn. Keep pushing that pro-life, ultra-conservative agenda, Sarah, it really seems to be working for you. Keep up the abstainance chatter as well and perhaps teens will stop having sex. How did someone so obviously intellectually limited achieve this kind of political fame? Oh yeah, it was McCain's first big decision as a presidential candidate.

Hopefully, the people of Alaska will think twice about giving her another term, but I am afraid that she is popular there as the home town girl in the same way that W. is somehow popular here in Texas no matter what he has done.

When people want to look the other way, they will do it easier than you might think possible.

Palin must think she is something like Elvis Presley,,,,,,,however Elvis did have talent. Palin has the mouth minus the talent. Go for it Sarah,,,,,,,,,this is the best the republican party can offer. She also may be a better hunter than Cheney,,,,,,although she has shot herself in the foot more than once.,,,,,,and that was with her mouth.

As I have said again and again! Why can't anyone see though this woman's charade and realize that she is not ready for leadership!
Pailin is so full of her self and double talk it's not laughable anymore – let her go on her way – she has never been engaged on any level as a governor – or a a viable candidiate anyways!

"Among the Republicans' biggest complaints: Palin is disengaged from the legislative process. There have been multiple complaints that Palin administration officials won't take positions on bills, including any indication about whether the governor is likely to sign bills that make it through the process. [...] "

It stil baffles me that this woman is a governor! Jerry Springer can you please call Sarah – we need her off of the national Policial scene immediately! Sick of Drama Queen Sarah with her so call fake family values!
