    The WH suddenly seems very familiar to regular citizens. Finally, there is some kind of connection between the government and the people....but the Republicans are not going to like this at all.

    I love dogs, it's great that the first family has one.

    But my gosh, the way you all gush and drool over Obama, as if he is the first president to have a dog... GEEZ.... get over yourselves!!

    Mississippi Mike> You are completely ridiculous. Would it kill you to make a positive comment once in a while? It's a sweet photo of a man and his dog and you have to make some negative political comment. Sheesh!

    Re the photo: too cute.

    Now if the Prez can teach Bo how to shoot a few hoops, he'll have a perfect exercise partner. (Take it easy on the old guy Bo, he'll need to conserve his energy for other less important matters such as the arms race, the economic downturn, global warning, and combatting terrorism.)

    Two popularity points for getting Bo, two more for taking a jog with the little guy, and two more in the future for carrying a plastic bag for you-know-what, and for setting a good example that nobody is above cleaning up after his pooch.

    How refreshing it is to have this nice family living in the White House, all five of 'em.

    Cats I can do without. I just love dogs, and this pet is the cutest I have seen. I hope he will give the entire family much needed diversion from their hectic life.

    The president lives in a house full of females. He needs a companion to kick back with. Girls may need to look for another pet.

    I love it.

    @Marc,

    You obviously don't know the facts. Both Bush and Clinton regularly ran with secret service on a weekly basis. Bush was always in excellent health.

    @Get Well Soon GOP

    Pay attention, Newt wasn't criticizing that they got a dog, he was criticizing the amount of coverage it was getting. However, I understand the liberal mindset enough to know that it is in your makeup to have to insult and hate anything GOP or conservative. You continue to hate even when it is a positive story, and even though you have the White House and the Congress. Pretty sad really that you can't be happy.
