DSCC, DCCC to suspend PAC, lobbyist money for one night

Obama will headline a fundraiser for the DSCC and the DCCC.
Obama will headline a fundraiser for the DSCC and the DCCC.

(CNN) - The Democratic Senate and congressional campaign committees will not accept cash from political action organizations or lobbyists during a fundraiser to be headlined by President Obama, a Democratic source confirms to CNN.

The White House stipulated the condition for the major June 18 fundraising event, expected to raise millions for 2010 Senate and congressional candidates.

Obama banned PAC and lobbyist donations during the presidential campaign to square with his pledge to limit the influence of special interests in Washington. He instituted a similar rule at the Democratic National Committee after winning the White House.

But both the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee - which along with their GOP counterparts have historically relied on PAC and lobbyist contributions - will return to accepting such funds after the Obama fundraiser.

Yes Ron, the system has been broken for a long time. Both political parties are at fault. There are a lot of things that need fixing with our political system like welfare, jobs, health care but remember someone has to pay for it and it can not be just a select few of the tax payers.

This is because they DNC does not need the money. Folks, we learned after this past election that buying a bunch of airtime get;s you no where because we have fact check and the internet. Hillary tried the 3 am commercial…..didn't work, Palin tried the Rev Wright commercial….didn't work. Why, because no cares what you have to say about ht eother person, we care about what you will do if elected.Teh days of saying mean spiritrd things in a commercial and us believing it are long gone

WELL SAID, SIR!! The only thing people care about now is policy. Does your policy benefit the people?
Can you get your policy implemented?
Will your produce the desired effect?
What will you do for the people in office?
These are the questions that dominate the voters mind.

Obama did change DC. Only for one day, but hay did you really think that pac,s would not be a part of election funding. To bad that they are so far behind the GOP, I am sure that they could use the funds.

That's like me suspending my wedding vows for one night to cheat on my wife.

You know that if they do this once, they'll do it again.

Gosh! The prez. can't do anything right these days but I never heard a word from Cheney when Bush was in – not one single time. The current VP has done more than Cheney did in 8 years.

Times have change and these old senators can't understand it. It's time that America start demanding a change to the senate seats and that means the old people must go! Now That's change I can believe it......

They should take all the money they get from the special interests in that one night and give to agencies struggling to care for homeless children in Washington D.C. But then they would have to admit that homeless children exist. Like civil liberties, transparency and accountability, that's not part of the campaign agenda.

The headline should more accurately read, "DSCC, DCCC to delay receiving PAC, lobbyist money for one night".

Obama himself has lobbyists working in his campaign last year and he had lobbyists working for him as we speak. Why politicians lie to the people is beyond me! I'm one angry taxpayer! I am treated infernally by the government who is supposed to act responsibly with OUR TAXMONEY and WORK FOR US not US TAXPAYERS SERVING THEM.

One night no money from lobbyists?!?!?! You expect us to cheer you on that? We 're not a bunch of morons! While corrupt politicians in DC like Feinstein, Hamerman, Dodd, Frank, Murtha, Pelosi, Reid and others are having a grand time with OUR tax money, WE the PEOPLE outside of the beltway are suffering financially. I can't wait for 2010 and 2012 to be here, so I can vote a LOT of YOU OUT OF OFFICE!

Ummmm....I thought Obama pledged not to accept any PAC/Lobby money. Stopping for a day and picking back up later still leaves this money trickling into the political realm.

How about taxing all PAC money at 90% and using the money to cover health care or pay down the national debt?
