Gibbs gives top grades to White House press corps

WASHINGTON (CNN) - As the White House press corps gears up for President Obama's 100-day assessment, what kind of grade does the administration think reporters themselves deserve?

"I'd give them a strong A, Wolf," Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told CNN's Wolf Blitzer Friday. "You guys watch everyday. There are tough questions each and every day and they're looking at and trying to find the stories in this administration.

"I think the job they have to do everyday is to get up and go to work ask tough questions and cover for the American people the job that this administration is doing. I think they're obviously doing a tough job particularly well."

See the White House spokesman on The Situation Room today beginning at 4 pm ET, and catch his full interiew - Countdown to the CNN National Report Card: A Situation Room Special - airing on Saturday at 6 pm ET.

Also: On 44 with Ed Henry, CNN's senior White House correspondent gets the inside track from Gibbs

Along with the Best Political Team, give your own grade to President Obama and other elected officials - be part of the CNN Report Card: First Hundred Days.

Coming from the #1 insider sleazeball, what else would one expect?

Maybe he gave them an A to offset the fact he never answers direct questions. It's always "I'm not aware of that", I am not familiar with that", "I'm not sure at this point", etc. He probably gave them an A since their "work" during the campaign got Obama elected.

Who's Gibbs kidding? Of course the press gets an A. They've lobbed nothing but softballs that would have one thinking even Barbara Walters is tough. They even allowed Obama to pick his own questioners without even a hint of protest. And has anyone seen the daily tally of troup losses that was so prominent prior to 1-20-09? And in the past week has anyone asked if Raum Emmanual feels like a complete idiot because his boss left him out to dry by flip-flopping on the torture prosecution issue?

Press Sec. Gibbs gets an A+ for putting up with some of the snarky questions, and a lot of disrespect from a few wannabes in the room. Ed Henry is awful...Dan Lothian is beginning to flex his verbal muscles a little too much as well...

Robert Gibbs has got to be the worst press secretary ever. He stammers and stutters more than anyone I have ever heard. How did he ever get this job? And why would anyone ever believe anything he says after he either a)lied, or b)is just stupid. When he said Obama didn't bow to the Arab it was hillarious! The press and the public especially should not believe a word he says (if he can get one out). I always try to be a positive person but he just makes me ill.

Well duh. Of course the administrtion likes them. Let's see how much it likes them if they ever start doing their job and REALLY start asking tough questions.

of course GIBBS would give the mrdia an "A" they are 100% behind OBAMA.
OBAMA is the "PRESIDENT" of the media and they will do anything for him

inclusive would be lying cheating making up stories and cheerlrading.

he is the head of the media.

You bet you give them an A. They only tell one side of every story. Never anything negative. They might have a news slot, but they're not telling the news. Journalism is dead. MSNBC is in Obama's pocket. GE which owns MSNBC is getting a large bundle from the stimulus. Obama, what a disgraceful, manipulative, dishonest president.

Guess he would give them a good grade – no one ever asks him a tough question and the so-called reporters don't pin him down when he can't answer the easy ones.

Oh, this is simply rich! LOL! The President who is the most beloved media-friendly president (Good gracious the media was his 24/7 advertising agency during the campaign) is (surprise) giving the media an "A" rating for its "reporting" of the Chief Executive. If CNN and the other media giants (save FOX, which conversely, is sworn to finding ANYTHING negative on the president) would REALLY investigate some of the not-so-glorious issues of the first 100 days (hundreds of billions spent on what, exactly?), then perhaps they'd actually be "investigating" news rather than creating and aggrandizing this so-called media icon. Is there a middle ground anywhere? What a bad journalistic joke this press-corps is.

As an Independent (who voted for President Obama) I also give the press a strong 'A', for 'Aggressiveness'. But I, likewise, give the Obama administration a strong 'A', for 'Accomodation'. I truly appreciate the fact that most of the MSM actually believes their oft-times difficult questions are being satisfactorily answered; and equally pleased that the WH isn't afraid to address any question that they are asked. What a refreshing change!

Of course the administration would give the media an "A". Good grief, the media is in the Obama Administration's hip pocket. Any dissenters are ignored or turned away.

1290 baby - the # of days left until we can correct the horrible mistake America made on Nov 4th, 2008......IF there is still an America left

I'll give him an A for effort his first 100 days. He was handed an absolute disaster on so many fronts from the previous administration and has hunkered down and gone to work on it. No one is perfect but I think President Obama does have the majority of Americans best interests at heart. Some things will work and some won't. Of course, these so-called conservatives paint him out to be the devil/Hitler/Stalin/Bin Laden but that just what they do nowadays with nothing else to offer but more name calling and more dire prognostications. Good work Mr. President. Remember as they keep slinging mud at you, the MAJORITY of Americans think you are a good man doing a good job.
