Gibbs gives top grades to White House press corps

WASHINGTON (CNN) - As the White House press corps gears up for President Obama's 100-day assessment, what kind of grade does the administration think reporters themselves deserve?

"I'd give them a strong A, Wolf," Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told CNN's Wolf Blitzer Friday. "You guys watch everyday. There are tough questions each and every day and they're looking at and trying to find the stories in this administration.

"I think the job they have to do everyday is to get up and go to work ask tough questions and cover for the American people the job that this administration is doing. I think they're obviously doing a tough job particularly well."

See the White House spokesman on The Situation Room today beginning at 4 pm ET, and catch his full interiew - Countdown to the CNN National Report Card: A Situation Room Special - airing on Saturday at 6 pm ET.

Any President would have to do the same thing. Obama's program is just an altered continuation of the Bush policies.

  2. Is the Wolf watching the hen house?

when the white house complements the press corp, that must be one sucky press corp

the white house should think the press is 'out to get them' and be uncomfortable

now I am worrying, the press must be getting some nice perks

No super pres here....super spender...super duper talker....lots of super but no super pres...we will be paying back this debt for years to come...american children not born will pay back the money thrown out to big companies for execs to get hefty bonus's. Super pres would have drawn up a super bill that did not have "pork" in it ..before he asked people to sign and not read...what we need is super participation from americans so we are only saddled with debts we all agree upon.

Mr. Gibbs does a great job with the press. He holds his own with those the media corps send, He knows the President and can speak well as his representative.
Mr. Gibbs is in a class with Tony Snow. He holds his well and makes the daily press conferences far from boring and yet very informative.
He was the right person for this job at this historical moment. He knows how to be both trusted and be fair and balanced as well give us the most inside knowledge as he can each day.

Is CNN a CIA or Democratically owned and operated information resource? What has this administration accomplished other than rip the Bush administration for 100 days? I am being serious. What did they accomplish? Let me know when you decide to report the news rather than make it up as you go along and investigate the actions of this administration and how they will effect us globally. Your best bet would be to get a few conservatives and Republicans in there and assist in the researech. I do not see a group of liberals really doing anything other than sucking on his cock.

Of course they would give possitive grades to the White House press, it was NN that was doing it. They would not be the trash reporters if they did not. If thye were not afaid of what the Democratic White House thought of them thye would not be as favorable. They are very biased and very borring.

    Holy cow!!
They figure if they say it enough times, people will think it's true.
He can't just be president, now he has to be super or the best one ever?
You have got to be kidding me!

  14. Knows How To Count

I give the Obama team an A+ in PR, that's for sure. If he turns out to be 10% as good a president as the "objective" (snicker) media portrays him to be, we will be lucky! But this will not be the case.

Why haven't any of the presidents up until now found the money for all these infrastructure improvements and other mostly-pork projects? Because they had at least a passing understanding of economics, whcih Obama and his team do not. This "stimulus" money doesn't exist – Obama and friends are simply going to print more money. This in turn will devalue the dollar worldwide – it doesn't take Einstein to realize that if you simply create more money it weakens the value of that currency.

The Emporer has no clothes, and it amazes me how desperate people are lining up to drink the Kool-Aid. We are simply putting off the inevitable by throwing money we do not have at the problem – and digging ourselves in deeper. Let the Big 3 automakers die. Theirs is a story of unfettered greed and lack of concern for the future or for the common good, mostly on the part of the labor unions. Chrysler's most recent UAW contract tells the entire story. On average, including wages and benefits, union employees there cost Chrysler around $76 per hour. Per hour. For unskilled labor that mostly watches robots do the work. And yet everyone is so surprised that they are in trouble – when they are paying unskilled labor the same as the average income for a family practitioner (doctor) in this country!!! No sympathy from me at all. Let them go bankrupt and get rid of the unions!

Yet as we continue the march away from capitalism and toward socialism, I am sure that this administration will just print some more money and give it to them, no strings or questions asked!

I know the usual cabal of sore losers, neoconservatives, and racists will probably say President Obama is doing a terrible job and casually throw out pejorative terms such as "socialist", but I believe he is doing a great job so far and the opinion polls seem to bear this out.

I, for one, am proud of my president. God bless him.

I was no Bush fan but please. Cut the one sided coverage of Obama. I believe he should have a chance but so far he is full of hot air. Keeps repeating the same promises. The press is scared to be called racist. Show some intestinal fortitude and ask the tough questions. Have someone in the administration say just how much they feel the country is worth. The USA must have a value just as a company does. How much can we borrow? Just how much is the country worth?

When you have things like internal NBC family memos telling their reporters to take it easy on Obama (while their parent company of GE gets bailout funds), of course Gibbs is going to give the media an A!

Obama is not a super, great , good, or fair president., he is a dumb president. He is trying to make friends with evil people that will never change and trying to eliminate our nuclear weapons. In this world its a fight between good and evil and you got to keep on fighting until good wins, and dumb ole obama is doing exactly what evil wants. He would be a good leader in africa but not in usa. Get him out of office before he destroys our nation. Bye the way I'm 100% hispanic, so I don't have that white guilt that many people used to vote for Obama.

Soon, they will not want to come into this marxist country.
I do not know who you all are polling, but I see dozens of people a day in my business and they are so upset about what is happening to our country!!! Thats all people are talking about...how low Obama has brought us. I wonder if you will dare to print this...CNN!

this is disgusting, cnn and msnbc are no longer news agencies, they are propaganda machines fawning at the feet of their supreme commander. a man who allowed countless bonuses to go to greedy pigs, who is releasing photos of torture in order to divide the country and inflame the islamic world, who gave 900 million to a terrorist group to rebuild the gaza strip. super president? really? what about those who actually believed him, that he would unite, and are watching as he tears any hopes for unity asunder.
