Gibbs gives top grades to White House press corps

WASHINGTON (CNN) - As the White House press corps gears up for President Obama's 100-day assessment, what kind of grade does the administration think reporters themselves deserve?

"I'd give them a strong A, Wolf," Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told CNN's Wolf Blitzer Friday. "You guys watch everyday. There are tough questions each and every day and they're looking at and trying to find the stories in this administration.

"I think the job they have to do everyday is to get up and go to work ask tough questions and cover for the American people the job that this administration is doing. I think they're obviously doing a tough job particularly well."

See the White House spokesman on The Situation Room today beginning at 4 pm ET, and catch his full interiew - Countdown to the CNN National Report Card: A Situation Room Special - airing on Saturday at 6 pm ET.

Also: On 44 with Ed Henry, CNN's senior White House correspondent gets the inside track from Gibbs

Along with the Best Political Team, give your own grade to President Obama and other elected officials - be part of the CNN Report Card: First Hundred Days.

Republicans will say, 'of course you give them an A since they are in the tank for you' and democrats will say, " sad whiny republicans'.... and it goes on and on....

Get over it, the 60's are over so no nirvana is upon us ala Jimmy Carter. This guy is Jimmy Carter incarnate. Socialism or joining hands and singing kumbaya has never worked ever in the history of our world. You spoiled jack asses need to study recent American history to realize you can't always get what you want.

I give them an 'A'. Obama is taking on every important issue. He has also succeeded in deflecting the low-priority "issues" raised in the tabloid media.

I don't agree with the administrations methods in all cases, but Obama is taking an intelligent, pragmatic approach. He is making progress on all fronts. The increasingly violent situations in Pakistan and Iraq will test the administration again in the coming days and weeks.

Best of luck to the best President in my lifetime.

Wow! The media grades themselves...ha! What a farce. That would be like my students giving their final papers an "A" because they showed up everyday for class.

Let us, the public, grade you. After all, we are the ones who daily consume your pot of soup.

Considering the tremendous job facing President Obama and the continued knocks from the Republicans, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Obama said"Ok Republicans, you think you have an answer for everything and think you can do it better, well, go for it, I quit"Chaos. It would almost be worth having that happen to see the Republicans just fall completely apart not knowing where to start. I guarantee you, that three months later they would be destroyed.

I think Obama is doing a great job given the circumstances he inherited, but c'mon guys – The Obama administration giving the Obama administration top marks? YOU DON'T SAY.

Hey Gibbs, I'm putting my name on the line with my family and friends for Obama. Why don't you get the f**kin story straight next time before you go in front of the press. Quit making our President look like a waffler or get lost. Next time someone asks you if he bowed to the Saudi whatever, ask Rahm how to answer, you redneck waffling moron!

I really had to laugh at this one. The press gets an A from Gibbs. The Drive By Media – Go figure. The Main Stream Media is no longer the networks or the papers it is the internet. The media died last year durring the Presidential Election R.I.P

Yes EVER... Take pride in your country and stand up to the Demo-Liberals that are trying to buy your vote. Get some dignity and stand on your own two feet.. You are an embarrasment and you will hesitate to tell your children you participatied in this fiasco!

President Obama is doing a good job. However, when things are picking up in a year or two, he should work on reforming the financial system. That is the banking and stock market realms or else, down the road this kind of melt down will happen again!

  17. superpresident

Why aren't comments available under the "superpresident" article? Could it be that they don't want anyone questioning anything President Obama has done? I respect him as the president, but I don't think he's done anything particularly noteworthy above and beyond regular presidential duties. And being the first minority president isn't his accomplishment. That belongs to everyone for coming this far. So congratulations on a good 100 days, but let's not get carried away and lose touch with reality.

Hmmm, let's review. The WH Press Secretary gives his boss an "A" and that results in CNN's pasting a big eye-catching headline of Obama being a "superpresident." Forget objectivity. Seems like CNN is just desperate to provide glowing praise for their almighty savior. Such media control was also successfully practiced under Stalin and Hitler. Let's hope we don't go there.

of course, he is going to give media A. what is media? Media is controlled by a few companies who have vested interest in seeing wallstreet bailout. Obama is the biggest waster of money in the history and taxpayers are going to see the consequence of this in next 4-5 years by high taxes. Even republicans will not able to avoid increases in tax except hey are going to say "read my lips, no more tax".

I guess the guys who poll people aren't included in this. Who are you polling when you ask Americans if Obama will keep us safe? I know 0% of people who feel that way. You must be interviewing everyone in Massachusetts. He is doing everything he can to make the US vulnerable to terrorists. Cant wait to see his approval ratings after the US is attacked under his watch. And unfortunately for all of us, we will be if Obama continues his policies of undermining intelligence gathering and turns on the people who have helped keep our country safe since 9/11

Just wait for another 9/11 like attack after the this administrations stupid decisions. This administration is so naive, they think if you treat those terrorist like a your honored guest, they will forget their ideology, which is to kill any one who in not muslim . This administration willl bring this country to a 3 rd world country level after all. America will be a paper tiger , not a super power any more.
