I have never seen such outrageous whining in my life. If that was John McCain dancing in the White House Curled Up In A Ball would be all smiles. Instead, it is Barack Obama, and he is working his butt off for all of us.

The Governor's Dinner is one of many traditional functions the President is expected to conduct and his entertainment budget is part of the overall cost of running the White House. See below!

    Operating Expenses

$9,260,000 – "For the care, maintenance, repair and alteration, refurnishing, improvement, heating, and lighting, including electric power and fixtures, of the Executive Residence at the White House and official entertainment expenses of the President."

    Or, about $25,370 a day.

    * "Entertainment expenses" mainly covers dining and entertainment for official guests of the United States.
    * An additional $810,000 is budgeted for repair, and restoration.

In addition, The President and Mrs. Obama gracefully declined the $100,000 alloted them for redecorating the private quarters of the White House and are using their own money for that purpose.

Patricia- GET a GRIP. Pres. Obama hasn't even been in office for 100 days yet. He is NOT NOT NOT the reason people are losing their jobs, homes, and grasp on reality.

Just stop listening to how how Obama is "GOING TO" ruin the country from the right wing pundits, lighten up, and allow him to be in office for, I don't know, more than 100 days before you join the confederacy of dunces who try to blame all of the crisis our country is going through on him.

Seriously, you Obama haters are the ones who are brain washed. Turn off FOX news and stop listening to Rush (drug addled) Limbaugh for a moment and do a little FACT CHECKING.

Glad to see the President and his beautiful wife enjoying themselves. Some of you need to stop being so uptight. Yes the country is going through tough times, but the President is a real human being like the rest of us. Do any of you work 24 hours a day? When you have tough times at work, do you not look to go home or take a vacation to unwind. Such bitterness from some of you is not healthy.

I am amazed at the ObamaNuts. Still Bush bashing – yeah really Bush sent troops for all the wrong reasons, but Obama is sending troops for all the right reasons. No matter what Mr. O does, even if it is the same as Bush did, O is right but Bush was wrong. Its okay for the O's to dance, but the Bushes dancing was not. PLEAZZZE, just stop. It doesn't really matter who is in the WhiteHouse, they are going to do what they want UNLESS the Donkeycrates of the Senate say they can't. The Pres doesn't really run this country any more, the Senate does. Go back 10-15 years and you will see, historically, the donkeycrates opposed anything that would really help this country and only passed what they themselves would gain beneficially

Curled up in a ball: My grandfather lied about his age and signed up at 16 years old and was a Navy pilot in World War I. My grandmother, who was a "Rosie the Riveter" in Bremerton, Washington, during World War II, helped build ships for our Navy.

Both of them worked hard to defend and protect our country. And they both loved dancing, especially the polka and the Schottische. During World War II, after a long week of work, they would gather with friends and yes, dance. It was a way to reconnect, rejuvenate and celebrate all the good things they were fighting for here at home while our troops were fighting overseas.

It is totally appropriate for the Obamas to dance, because they, too, are working very hard for the betterment of our country during a time of war.

  10. Having fun while Swine flu spreads....

we're faced with perhaps an enormous flu pandemic--in 1918,
50 million people died of a similar strain-why are the Obamas dancing when we have not developed a vaccine???

I had a job too while Bush was in office but my company was already downsizing prior to Nov 08 and Jan 09. The current Prez. didn't have anything to do with the downsizing of the greedy "CEO's" who do nothing but sit in meetings, while the common folks work their butts off to make a living and come up with the solutions.

I'm for one believe that most CEO's make entirely too much money for what they do! If you don't own the company it's no way you should be making millions and screwing the employees while you enjoy being rich!

Mr. Prez. keep up the good work and enjoy your life – we have seen how hard you are working and we do believe you care about the common people.

The real problem is that they think it's all just a big party. Throw on an empty suit ,turn on the teleprompter, say a few empty words, apologize for everything and then party some more. While the rest of us are trying to save, their spending us into oblivion…

They deserve some quality time together, This President really inherited a mess, it's going to get worse. It is the fall out of the Bush Administration. Don't forget that before he could have any enjoyment like this he was going through as much hell as anyone else. He does know the pain of growing up black in america. Cut him some slack.

@Heck Spawn: Obama danced, while America got burned…
    __________________________________________________
I think Bush danced, while American soldiers died or Bush vacationed, while Katrina victims drowned, sounds a whole lot better.

The Obama's are a beautiful couple and have restored class back to the White House and goodwill from those around the world. Don't be bitter.

  17. President Obama could walk on water and the Party of NO would still complain that he left footprints!

To the repubs complaining about President Obama not doing military service.

The shrub's rich daddy got him into the National Guard at a time when it was impossible for the "little guy" to get in, in an effort to avoid service in Viet Nam. The shrub and any witnesses were obviously drunk the entire month of August in Alabama as there are no records or withness.

The 5 time draft deferment Cheney did everything he could to stay out of the line of fire.

Yet, both of these parasites doomed over 4,000 American soldiers to death and many thousand more were maimed.

As usual, wars are started by old cowardly men but brave young men and women die fighting them.

From now on whenever ther is a war ALL AMERICANS have to moan. Dancing, laughing, dining and celebrating life is no longetr acceptable. PLEASE!! AMERICANS have always put on happy faces in times of war. Presidents have always held balls. Bush and his daughters partied. They got drunk, hung out, went to weddings and in the mean time soldiers were dying for a war that he initiated. So all those sore losers out there get over it and keep moving, dance , drink, party and be happy. The Dems. did it for years.

Oh please, folks! Even if our country is at war, we can all appreciate how hot the first couple is. Because they are. They're classy hot.

The President and First Lady share a dance and it is somehow conceived as negative. This is asinine and immature. Due to the misdeeds of President Bush and the outspoken, soulless predator that he is, V.P. Dick Cheney, the Obama administration has so many issues to right. To say that he should not enjoy life while he corrects all the garage remnants from Bush/Cheney administration and the Clinton administrations Community Reinvestment Act (which caused all these financial issues) is ridiculous.

I question all those who criticize to present their respective solutions. And, I challenge you to account for your emotions over the last 24 months. Have you not smiled, laughed, or enjoyed a leisurely moment with your spouse? Or was your time spent feeding the homeless, moving foreclosure victims into your home, or standing in a grocery lines writing random checks to needy families? OR did you run for public office, or join the military to serve a cause greater than your cable TV and Internet, microwave food, chips and dips, Indy 500, Superbowl, or Final 4? If you have not stepped up to HELP the country somehow, I suggest you grab a seat on the bench and continue to enjoy the FREE ride that Obama, Servicemen and woman, and their families are paying for. Critics of this lot are no better than Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’ Riley, and other incredibly outspoken critics who have NEVER held public office, served in the military, or used their fame to generate community activism. They’ve just created great personal wealth by selling babel.

And so you critics know, I just returned from serving 18-months in the deserts Iraq. And when I was not being shot at and dogging IEDs, I (like most all service members) had a BLAST. We enjoyed every free moment we had – JUST AS THE OBAMAs! How dare you criticize my comrades or me! WE ARE PATRIOTS AND WE KNOW WHAT IT MEANS TO BE ALIVE.

  22. Lovin it

I am astounded by some of the hateful and ignorant posts here!
These type of events are common during every president's term in office whether it is war time or peace fime. I personally am thankful to see the president having a moment of happiness with his wife. Life must be balanced and he certainly has a difficult job that occupies him most of the time. This shows me that he continues to have hope, which continues to give me hope.

I am truly thankful that he is not at his private, luxurious home for large periods of time (like, cough cough W). I know that he is committed and working hard, that he loves his family, that he is intelligent and serious, and that he is living life.

This is a good, sound, balanced, loving and committed man– I am proud to have him as our president.

I feel sorry for this man (Obama)
I wouldn’t want his job even if my life depends on it
    – 2 Wars at forefront
    – Economy and depression
    – Country image tarnished around the globe and American flag burnt everywhere
    – Job loss at an alarming state
    – Education systems that way below many others counties
    – Financial situation that is going down hill at the faster speed
    – 19th century healthcare

It’s seem to me that while the US of A is at the stand still, others countries are moving forward to the next century

Non of this is his fault and for a salary of $ 400K the job is not worth a headache.
The man made $ 2 million last year for his book
And yet he is taking these issues head on, so give a man a break
he deserves some down time with his family.

For all the whiners, who would like McCain get the job, remember McCain stopped his campaign and returned to Washington?) And I bet that after 100 days, McCain would still be at the starting gate instead of taking off running
