Lieberman welcomes Specter to caucus

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Sen. Joe Lieberman applauded Arlen Specter's move to the Democratic caucus, saying he was pleased to be joined by "yet another independent minded Democrat."

"I enthusiastically welcome my good friend Arlen Specter into the Democratic caucus. It will be very good to have the company of yet another independent minded Democrat in the caucus!" he said in a statement.

"I have always admired Arlen as a man of deep principle who has been a bridge builder to get things done in the Senate. Arlen understands that we get things accomplished when we listen to the vital center of American politics. I know that Arlen will continue to make a major contribution to the Senate and the nation as an effective independent leader and problem solver."

Specter will do well to stay clear of Lieberman. He is a traitor...a wolf in sheeps clothing. This country needs to move forward...legislation needs to be passed to do this. We do not need these politicians who take positions purely for political expediency.

Specter is not doing this for any principle, don't make me laugh. It is a manuver to maintain his position in the senate. That is all, this man has no principles other than profit over people.

NeoCON-leaning Joe Lieberman "welcomes" Specter's move to 'his' party?!?

Just more proof that the political parties don't matter. These high-finance-influenced hacks manage to float between the 'parties' with ease and abandon to the continued oblivion of the public.

By the way...TRUE AMERICANS John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy are rolling in their graves over Specter's move...for a variety of historical reasons...

I could care less what Senator Lieberman says or thinks. He is a persona non grata traitor in my eyes ! Put a helmet on and go fight in Iraq since you believe in it so much...gutless traitor !

Liberman is a snake and just blows whichever way the wind blows so he can keep a job. If Spector had any sense he would distance himself from such a fool. He has his own problems anyway now!

Having a 'big tent' means democrats tolerate Lieberman. That doesn't mean we have to like him. He has done a lot of snubbing in the name of 'independence'. Dems don't enforce lock-step voting , but they require a similar (enough) philosophy.

Joe, you are just playing politics and running for the next election, which I hope you will lose. You are better than Dodd, but not much.

Niether is Senator Sanders...........but no one in their right mind would call him a "republican".

Anyways, the 20 centrist Democratic coalition will now hold the balance of power.

Too little too late for Lieberman, lol! You can't run back to your party after endorsing McCain. Good luck with that!!!

I certainly hope that Specter doesn't turn out to be the traitor that Lieberman has.

Well, neither is Bernie Sanders, but he still caucuses with Democrats.

I guess leaving Libermann as the Chairman of his Senatorial Committee was the right move on Harry Reid. Harry Reid and his friends in the moderate coalition of 20 Democrats will now hold the balance of power. Very scary.

Joe wouldn't be a Senator today if it wasn't for the CT Republicans. We won't make that mistake again.

As much I despise Lieberman, we still need him. He cacuses for the Democrats, and we desperately need Al Franken as well. No more fillibusters. NO MORE FRUSTRATION. It is time for real change, and no more ignorance!

Lieberman is a turncoat! He should move to Alaska and become deputy governor.

Joe know's all about being a turncoat, but I think Specter just got sick
of the Republican party he knows alot of his constituents are now siding with the Democrats. He also knows he would have lost the Primaries to Toomey cause Toomey is one of those Gun loving, Fetus defending, God fearing nut jobs which has become the Party.

Welcome aboard the Party with some sanity still intact.

  20. Can I Call You Joe?

Liberman is the lowest form of politician. He grabs onto Specter hoping that he himself can step on his back and stand taller.

Joe, you've got some pentance to pay. We will be watching you. You backed McCain over President Obama. You hardly qualify as any type of Democrat.
