Limbaugh to Specter: Please take McCain with you

Limbaugh did concede the downside of Specter's defection.
Limbaugh did concede the downside of Specter's defection.

(CNN) - Conservative host Rush Limbaugh said Tuesday he isn't sorry to see Arlen Specter leave the GOP - and that many Republicans wish the Pennsylvania senator would take a few others with him when he goes.

"A lot of people say, 'Well, Specter, take [Sen. John] McCain with you. And his daughter [Meghan]. Take McCain and his daughter with you if you're gonna..." he told listeners, dissolving in laughter.

".....It's ultimately good. You're weeding out people who aren't really Republicans," he said.

Limbaugh did concede the downside of Specter's defection. "It makes the Senate essentially as big a slam dunk for Obama and the Democrats as the House of Representatives already is," he said.

Earlier this month, Specter said Limbaugh did have a tendency to make "provocative" statements, but told radio host Howard Stern he didn't have a problem with the conservative talker. "Do I like Limbaugh?... yeah, I like him," he said then.

UPDATE: Late Tuesday afternoon, Meghan McCain fired back on Twitter. "RED TIL I'M DEAD BABY!!! I love the republican party enough to give it constructive criticism, I love my party and sure as hell not leavin!"

Weeding out people who aren't really republicans just like the American public is weeding the Republican party out of American politics...

I see Limbaugh had to emerge from his drug induced stupor so that he could waddle in front of a camera and get some attention.

It's okay, Rush. Ever since you pledged your soul to him, Satan will never desert you. Never. His commitment to you is eternal. Bring marshmallows.

Yes! By all means listen to Rush! He's going to "save" the Republican party by getting rid of all those pesky moderates.

Then you'll be left with the 10-20% who are "real" Republicans. You're going to win a LOT of elections with that number!

How dumb are you Republicans? You actually listen to THIS guy?
You deserve to be on histories scrap heap.

Of course Limbaugh doesn't like Specter. Specter has a mind of his own and doesn't listen or pay attention to a word that blowhard Limbaugh says. Limbaugh only likes mindless Republican robots who do whatever he says.

Limbaugh, Limbaugh.... obese, drug addict and now a cry baby? "Waaah waaah... take McCain with you?" Thank God you are the leader of the Republican party. Let the stupid follow you.

Rush's ideal Republican Party - Just him, alone in a room. Because if you disagree with him on ANY matter, including how you feel about cauliflower, you're the enemy. Does it ever occur to him that the ever shrinking group of people he considers "real" Republicans are really a fringe cult of fanatics? Of course not.

CNN–this guy is a radio entertainer, why do you insist on covering him as if he were a statesman or even an intelligent spokesman?

Limbaugh is emblematic of the very reason so many people now disavow the Republican party. There is no place for anyone who holds moderate views outside of those held by their extremist clown so-called leaders. The party is total joke. It is now more akin to a cult. Specter simply recognizes what everyone else finally figured out the last few years.

Rush doesn't care if the Republic party melts away. He has his 33 million dollar a year soap box.

Not surprised at all by Limbaugh's condesending, rude tone, referring to the two senators by last name only. And dragging John McCain's daughter into the mud is so like Limbaugh. This 'string 'em up' crap coming from the RNC its conservative mouthpiece has got to stop.

    I love it...they still don't get it.

I guess they would rather have a tiny tent for of Klansmen than a big tent full of...Senators.

"…..It's ultimately good. You're weeding out people who aren't really Republicans," he said.

Ahem, keep on weeding at this rate Rush and pretty soon the GOP will be comprised soley of yourself, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity and a handfull of survivalists from Tennessee.

Good Luch Rush when you have no moderates in your party.

The GOP might be right when they say we are a center right country. That is not Right if you loose the center your toast for a long time.

Dont say I did not warn you all. GOP is toast as long as Rush / Hannity and Beck run the show.
