Obama pokes fun at swearing in mishap

(CNN) – President Obama Friday couldn't help but poke fun at the now-famous trip up during his inaugural swearing in ceremony last January.

In a public ceremony to swear in Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, the president noted his administration likes to swear in officials more than once.

"They were actually sworn in before today, but around here we like to make sure we get it right. I had to do it twice and so now we make everybody do it twice," the president joked.

See, this is why I like President Obama – for the same reason I liked Candidate Obama when he was running for president: he is completely and utterly unflappable, cool under pressure, and despite accusations of arrogance by his petulant, irrational and vindictive detractors, he is down-to-earth.

This is undoubtedly why it drives the radical right-wing Fox News crowd completely nuts.

Unlike our former President, who for the last eight years *pretended* to be a salt-of-the-earth cowboy working on his ranch in Crawford, Texas – even though he was born in Connecticut – Barack Obama is the real deal. He doesn't pretend to be something he's not, and has – in the short time he has been president – demonstrated a humble nature that befits the office to which he was elected.

He is a man of the people and for the people.

Now, if he would make legitimate birth certificates and standard qualifications, including passing a back ground and drug testing, a requirement for ALL politicians, cabinet members etc.

Nice to see a sense of humor in our president. I'm waiting for the "right" to try to turn this into a negative.

I was wondering, where are those who said the President was doing too many things at the same time and to just act on one problem at a time. There is swine flu outbreak, retiring justice, the auto problem, the economy, credit/bank problems, etc.

I guess he should tell everyone that he is dealing with the economy and does not need to talk about these other "stuff".

I guess he shows he can "chew gum and walk" at the same time.
    Great multi-tasking Mr. President.

I mostly don't agree with him on issues, but I understand why most people like him. He doesn't act like a big shot compare to most presidents.

And I'm sure the right will be out soon moaning about him telling jokes while people are losing their homes, etc. Meanwhile they can't say enough about how MEAN the libs are.

Did we ever get claridication to whether or not when he officially became our President or are waiting on history to divulge this fact?

There are no liberals on the current court – the court is so far right the few moderates are demonized as liberals – but there hasn't been a true liberal in decades because of the zealots on the right. So we need a true liberal Hispanic or Asian woman in her 20's so we can attempt to balance the right wing activist rubber stamp zealot court – that gave us bush despite him loosing the vote in FL. However it w.ill do nothing to balance the 5 extremist there now – so the ultra far right fringe tantrums, screaming and hysterical threats are all for nothing – they will still have their rubber stamp ideologues destroying individual rights and violating the constitution.
