From

(CNN) - What's the highlight of Mrs. Obama's time in the White House? Hanging out with Elmo, of course.

The first lady stopped by Sesame Street Tuesday, chatting with the furry red monster and making a public service announcement along the way.

"If you want your child to have healthy habits, practice healthy habits too because you're your child's best role model," Michelle Obama advocated in her appearance for Sesame Workshop's Healthy Habits for Life Initiative.

The First Lady told employees at the United Nations in New York Tuesday that it's probably the best thing she's done so far since she and her husband moved into the executive mansion. Mrs. Obama appears to be emerging as a champion of healthy exercise and eating habits, taking up her platform by planting an organic kitchen garden on the White House grounds.

Former first ladies Barbara and Laura Bush also dropped by Sesame Street set during their husbands' terms in office, advocating children's literacy by reading kids' books to Big Bird.

The Other Michael in Houston   May 7th, 2009 5:22 pm ET

Do we really need to know every single thing the the First Lady does. Geez, I am a supporter of President and Michelle Obama but this is starting to get nerve racking.

afw   May 7th, 2009 5:13 pm ET

I can't believe the hatefulness here... I think Michelle Obama is a terrific first lady. I thought Laura Bush was a good first lady too, though I thought her husband was an abysmally bad president. Honestly, why are you people so angry and bitter? I hated George Bush's actions and policies, but I never had a problem with his wife or his children. I feel bad for those of you who are so consumed with hatred that the only thing you can do is get it out with nasty, vitriolic anonymous comments.

She is simply the best! Awesome Michelle, just awesome :-)

I guess the Republicans would rather have Rush Limbaugh go on Sesame Street and tell kids how to eat everything in their refrigerator and pop pills all day. I

arithmetic is liberal   May 7th, 2009 4:54 pm ET

Just a quick question...

Are all the bitter people here angry at Michelle,

Or are they angry at THEMSELVES because they know they model terrible health habits for thier children?

I can understand getting offended if you idea of exercising with your kids constitutes strategically balancing a bag of Funions on your chest as you park yourself in front of the boob tube to watch a bunch of pituitary cases run up and down a court, then yell at the kid to get you a beer.

The childishness of the posts here ragging on Michelle are fairly telling of the psychology of the people doing it.

Is this the lady who said she wasn't proud of America, you all must have broomed that under the rug..........

Royster   May 7th, 2009 4:37 pm ET

Wow.....looks like some jealous people here were not allowed to watch Elmo as a child!

ANY first lady who works for children is to be commended...from BOTH parties.......can't we all have ONE little thing we all agree on?? Why do the GOP hate-mongers even bash THIS? I did not like Bush, but I commend his wife for the work she did with children...and I resist the urge to end this with a jab.

I am so excited to have a great First lady that is as classy as this one She is such a great role model for all mothers. I am so glad that she is addressing the obesity issue. The reason so many of our children are obese is because of the eating habits of their parents or care givers. I am a teacher and I see children that are diabetic and have high blood pressure problems. It is a disgrace what our nation has become when it comes to health issues. Thank you Mrs. Obama!!!!!

Tomkat   May 7th, 2009 4:20 pm ET

Poor, poor Republicans. It's going to be at least 16 long years before you fools get another chance at the White House. I doubt that your party will last that long. You're out of gas and there is heavy smoke coming out of the tail pipe. I laugh at your demise and that you think that you can shove your religious poison down America's throat? The last laugh is on you. Hehehahahoho!!!

I am not inclined accept any lecturing from the Liberals on any negative posts towards the current President, his administration, or his wife. You have all raisee the bar so high over during the previous administration with the most vile, demeaning, and hateful attacks on all Republicans (of which I was one of the roughly 60 million who voted for McCain) that I have no choice other than to respond in kind over the hopefully no more than four years that Obama is in office.

Lisa   May 7th, 2009 4:08 pm ET

We all really need to be careful ever saying to people "if you don't like it leave the country" . People said that to me when I criticized Bush 's POLICIES and I replied, I'd rather stay and try to change the country! Well it has changed now and the people who don't like Obama's policies are entitled to criticize as well.

However I agree with others – what's to complain about here? Did she lie about WMD, start a war, torture someone? C'mon people, at least choose something important – tax policy or whatever.

Obama is playing us for dummies   May 7th, 2009 4:08 pm ET

Mrs Obama your husband should add Elmo to his administration. He could not be as stupid or reckless as what you have in the oval office right now taking this country to the toilet

You can't help but to admire First Lady Michelle Obama who is a highly educated scholar and she steps right in line at every level. She's got to love what she does and I love her for all that she does.

Paul   May 7th, 2009 4:02 pm ET

you bitter bitter republicans. First you whine about socialism, then you complain about the obamas being capitalistic when the first lady buys a nice pair of shoes. Then, you claim the president is a fascist tyrannical dictator ... who's apologetic and an appeaser? You guys are so mired in blind hate and bitter at losing you can't even see the blatant stupidity of what you're complaining about. I'm sure the 21% of you that admit to being a republican will all have a blast tonight when hannity and limbaugh spends the evening excoriating the first lady for being on sesame street.

Laura Bush was an advocate of Literacy because her husband was an Idiot, fool and Illiterate.

Michelle Obama is an advocate of Health eating, because we all know Barack likes to eat junk food once in a while.

Thats sums it up.

Paco   May 7th, 2009 3:57 pm ET

Indeed. Some of Michelle Obama's best friends are Re-puppet-cans

Seriously? 99%? I don't know where you get your stats from. Do a google search on "literacy rate in the United States" and report back to us what you have learned.

Sorry, I'm a "liberal" but also a big Laura Bush fan. Laura is cool. Too bad she married a weasel. Have a nice day!

I don't see how some people can be so mean spirited about the First Lady making an appearance on Sesame St. To think that I breathe the same air with people who would be so cruel is unnerving at best!! HOOray for our first lady. She has class and two beautiful daughters and a loving husband, who is not afraid to show it. She should inspire all people in our country . She has done more than Laura, (whats her name) oh yea Bush did in 8 years. She should go around the country talking and inspiring all of us. Our country is very lucky to have her as first lady and her husband as president. May god look over her and her family.

Great job, Mrs. Obama ... we could all stand to incorporate healthier habits into our daily lives!

She did a great job- awesome message- way to go!

"Barbara and Laura Bush also dropped by Sesame Street set during their husbands' terms in office" – I'd bet money that the frothy Republicans will scream that she was grandstanding and can't stay out of the public eye. Michael Savage will recommend assassination and Rush will say he eats a dozen muppets for breakfast each morning.

"we have no idea who she is or what her ultimate goal is" Let me explain: she is from the 9th Dimension and she'll drink your blood unless you wear your tinfoil hat all night. Clear enough, Skippy? Remember, Laura Bush killed her friend back in high school, and like Ted Kennedy, didn't get a DUI. I like the non-murderous First Lady better.

I don't really have a problem with Michelle Obama, especially here.
But since she is talking about being a positive role model and promoting a healthy lifestyle...well...doesn't her husband smoke?

That isn't exactly the healthiest habit to practice....

Kel 09   May 7th, 2009 2:56 pm ET

For those of you who are making a fuss about prayer, day of prayer and other rituals – yes that's what they are- rituals. Grow up. What is amazing is that you are the same people who turn around after praying and go Rah Rah Rah in support of unnecessary wars and carnage in other countries.

If prayer makes you feel good, fine go ahead and pray, but don't force prayer on others. I bet you hadn't thought of this, but one can be a good human being without having said a single prayer. The statistics are there to prove that at least half the people who call themselves godly have no problem with war. On the other hand, an overwhelming majority of atheists and agnostics are peace-loving and anti-war. Go figure....

The Unshrub   May 7th, 2009 2:54 pm ET

It is not true that M. Obama has done more already than previous first ladies. It's only that the media is tilted toward liberal promotions and actually hate conservative activities. Also, so many of you writers were mere children when previous first ladies were in DC and you really have no idea what other presidents' wives accomplished, now do you really?

America needs to pray everyday so there is no need for 1 day to be set aside to to say " Look at us, we are praying'. This is sad. The article is about here doing a public service announcement for kids all the other nasty posting are imature and childish.

Matt   May 7th, 2009 2:41 pm ET

Barbara and Laura Bush were advocates for literacy in a nation where 99% of all adults and children can read. Big whoop!

Michelle Obama is advocate for healthy eating and exercise in a nation where 25 to 33 percent of the population is obese.

Now which one cause do you really think will have a greater positive impact on America?

Sam I Am   May 7th, 2009 2:28 pm ET

It's so refreshing to see a reasonably normal, literate, educated, and caring family in the Whitehouse. I'm sure there are a bunch of Limbaugh echo-heads that just cannot stand the fact that the Obamas are actually a good family, with good family values. While it is somewhat traditional for the First Lady to visit Sesame Street, it is refreshing to see a woman who is actually more intelligent and more focused than the puppets. I am awaiting with anticipation how Limbaugh and his hate troops will twist this into some consipiracy of the thought police. Of course Kantor will come out and say, "How nice" only to retract what he said the next morning after Limbaugh tells him to heel.

Stefanie, Texas   May 7th, 2009 2:18 pm ET

Wow, it's really amazing how petty conservatives can be. You would be picking on Michelle either way wouldn't you? She chooses to do something many first ladies do which is focus on child care issues and you hate her. Would you like it better if she were more like Hillary when Bill was in office? Somehow I think not.

Beth   May 7th, 2009 2:16 pm ET

How can anyone make snide comments when all this has to do with advocating for children? That's it. Her message was simple. Get out and exercise with your kids and be a postive example for them. No hidden agendas...nothing. Just a positive message for kids and parents.

If it had been ANYone else but Michelle Obama, the Repubs wouldn't have said a word. Because it's her, out comes the hate.

Seriously...grow up and get over yourselves. No wonder you're losing so many in your "party".

Trey J   May 7th, 2009 2:15 pm ET

However, the Republicans are very clever so watch them spin this in a negative way! Great job Mrs.Obama......my daugther has someone she can look up to in the white house.

Anthony   May 7th, 2009 2:12 pm ET

Its amazing that many of you can somehow manage to find something negative in even THIS...
Its SAD actually.
Its more a testament to your own sad lives and your inability to see anything beyond your own personal bias in a positive light.
Every first lady does this. Fortunately.. this time around we have a more "realistic" and "in touch" First Lady, whom I believe both privileged and non-privileged children can actually relate to.
For all you hate spewing commenters on here... YOU are the reason why Americans get looked at soo negatively...

@ LInda: "Did she wear her $540.00 tennis shoes that she wore when she was feeding the hungry???? What an insult to the poor people that she was feeding? Leading by example means more than just talk–you need to walk the talk."

How nasty can you be???? Are you jealous that she has better shoes than you, or what IS your problem??!!! Mrs. Obama did not come from a wealthy back-ground and she has worked very hard all of her life to achieve what she's achieved, so I think she earned whatever shoes she chooses to wear!

EDB   May 7th, 2009 2:05 pm ET

Gag, gag, gag. Why must an Obama always be in the news? We should all be fortunate enough to have Granny living with us in our grand (well, the taxpayer's) house and mutiple "employees" around to drive us, and feed us, and clean for us, and drop off and pickup the kids from school, etc., etc. Not exactly your everyday American family now is it?

Chipster   May 7th, 2009 2:02 pm ET

I don't have a "love affair" with the First Lady but I'm not looking for reasons to criticize her either. She has a wonderful education, working and taking out loans to obtain. She is a strong advocate for education, especially for young girls who still aren't sure it will open doors for them – It WILL!

She has a healthy lifestyle and a Christian attitude toward community service. Volunteering is not just for show. She did it long before the lights and cameras.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but she takes care of herself. Her fashion sense is simple and stylish.

So, why all the sniping? Laura Bush was lovely and I'm so glad she broke away from the dowdy "Barbara" dresses after the first year. She was far too young to dress so old and look how lovely she was. Also, a powerful advocate for education.

So stop the sniping and do something constructive.

lmao   May 7th, 2009 2:01 pm ET

Oh, what a beautiful person Mrs. Obama is and what a wonderful role model she is for all Americans by the outfits she wears, and that she can finally say she is now proud of her country for the first time in her life. We are so blessed to have the blessed Obamas in the White House. May God bless and keep them and care for them as they bless us each and every blessed day now that they are in the blessed White House and have taken charge of every blessed facet of our blessed lives.

I agree 100 percent with Michelle about parents being great role
models for their children.

To all you individuals stating that people were mean to Laura Bush – where did you gather that data – if I remember she was rated higher than George and was well liked and respected by more than 80 percent of the people.

Tina   May 7th, 2009 1:56 pm ET

Ok come on people !!!! The lady went on Sesame St. She is not talking politics on the show, just how to be healthy. How does anyone who is not screwed up in the head, justify criticizing this? And using it as an opportunity to bash her and the President? This is a public service she is doing, not a DNC convention speech or anything of the sort. No wonder Republicans are losing ground. Criticizing anything and everything is a big turn off for moderates like myself. And the liberals who are gushing all over the First Lady and using it as an opportunity to bash Laura Bush and prior First Ladies, you are also a turn off. If you have a problem with an administration's policies, fine, but dont attack the wives. Unless you really believe the wives were/ are the ones calling the shots in the cabinet meetings. Ridiculous huh? Stop it already guys !!! Michelle did a good thing and is sending a good message to parents. Those who want to hate will hate no matter what she does but I think its sad when political differences are used as an excuse for ingrown hatred.

Fitz in Texas   May 7th, 2009 1:55 pm ET

This is so funny. No mention of the millions of kids who never got the chance to watch Sesame Street b/c of abortions (which the Obamas support). I think she is a horrible role model for her girls–hopefully they won't grow up thinking abortion is a good "choice".
The hypocrisy in these comments are also pretty funny-you libs put down anything Conservative, but then get all offended when the shoe is on the other foot. Man up!

Most of us never said anything negative about Laura Bush ever. So, when I hear about how liberals bashed the Bushes for eight years you aren't talking about me. But I do take offense and makes me feel very negative. This causes me to associate negative feelings (unfairly) with conservative views in general.

obama/mama   May 7th, 2009 1:45 pm ET

Michelle so proud to have you as my first lady. Keep up the good work.

C W   May 7th, 2009 1:43 pm ET

Givemeabreak writes: "I just hope she said a little prayer on her way there since it is National Day of Prayer–oh that's right her and her husband don't recognize it-Wow seal your fate"

You need to go back to Sunday school and review the part about Christ's teachings of forgiveness, tolerance, love, inclusion and compassion.

President Obama signed a declaration recognizing the National Day of Prayer – he just didn't host a breakfast. Big deal! If that's all it takes to weaken your faith, you didn't have much of one to begin with.

Lee   May 7th, 2009 1:42 pm ET

Excellent job, conservative commenters. You're definitely well on your way to proving that GOPers are not at all full of hate and bitterness when you lash out at the First Lady for talking to kids about good eating habits. How dare she!!

Also, I believe the pity-party for your National Day of Prayer is on another article, whiners.

Greg, San Francisco, CA   May 7th, 2009 1:39 pm ET

The fact that the right wing trolls are reduced to criticizing Muppets is indicative of just how completely useless they are.

C W   May 7th, 2009 1:39 pm ET

Oh, RNC-DNC, lighten up! We all know that Barbara and Laura Bush also dropped by Sesame Street – they were both champions of literacy, which is wonderful, and they were both given hugs and kisses by the gracious Elmo.

Anyway, I love Elmo! And I love our First Lady – she is a great role model in so many ways!!!

enough already   May 7th, 2009 1:39 pm ET

I don't hate Michelle Obama – or Barack Obama for that matter, I just hate his policies. I think it's a good thing for the first lady to make these appearances to promote things we can all agree on.

What I dislike most is the slobbering by the Obamaphiles (which includes this website) over their every action. It's really embarrassing.

Abby   May 7th, 2009 1:38 pm ET

If one can find something negative about a sesame street appearance to promote healthy eating, one is negative indeed.

Diane   May 7th, 2009 1:32 pm ET

Could we please have one story on CNN that does not call forth hatred on anyone's part. No hatred for Michelle, or Barbara Bush, or Laura Bush or Hillary or Barack or George W. Just positive and nothing else. This seems like it would have been the perfect story for no hatred. I guess we have all hated for so long that we can't let the hatred go. Sad.

Brian G, Sugar Land, TX   May 7th, 2009 1:31 pm ET

I can't believe the negativity of many of the comments here. Michelle Obama is an active First Lady and active in the right areas.

So, all you naysayers, if you're so doggone better than MIchelle, post here what YOU personally have done to improve the nation.

Put up or shut up!

yuri   May 7th, 2009 1:31 pm ET

Hi MO- Do whatever you can to enthral and entertain the adorin' crowds for an excitingly good cause. You go girl!

Jason   May 7th, 2009 1:31 pm ET

I cannot believe people are finding fault with this psa. The First Lady is an incredible role model for all us!
A few things though; its great how conservatives keep bringing up that today is National Prayer Day and the Obamas are not acknowleding this. Ours is a nation that celebrates freedom of religion and a constitution that outlines a seperation of church and state. Whether the President and First Lady choose to participate in national, public prayer is their choice.
On a side note, earlier when CNN reported on the Obama girls getting a new play fort at the White House, conservatives went ape poo over it. Don't say you have never bad mouthed this family, I call b.s. on you.

Mike- Kansas City MO   May 7th, 2009 1:29 pm ET

Bitter, party of ??-(Steve, Givemeabreak, help-help, and probably some others).

I think it is great the Mrs. Obama had a great time on Sesame Street.
She is a great woman, and I happy for her to get this opportunity!

Anonymous   May 7th, 2009 1:29 pm ET

Doesn't anyone find that something is wrong when people blatantly hate this woman that they don't even know? I get that people are going to criticize the President, an elected official, either because of race, personal dislike or for the few intelligent Republicans, over actual ideological differences. But I don't understand the hatred towards the first lady other than it being the typical societal disdain that all Black women have to endure. I think it is excellent for her to promote healthy eating habits, no one is claiming that she is the "first" to do it but there is nothing wrong with celebrating what someone does that is good...anyone...not just the first lady.

After reading these comments mostly I am sorry I inhabit the earth with all the mean spirited, hateful people on here. Does wearing expensive sneakers take away from doing good? When our popular athletes go do their charitable works, do they go out and buy cheap sneakers? Do they walk and not drive their Bentley? That they are giving back is the key, not how they spend their own money. How do her politics, or her husband's politics, take away from doing something good, simple and aimed at helping all kids learn good habits. How can this world be filled with such hate? Makes me sad.

walleye   May 7th, 2009 1:28 pm ET

Parents need to get involved with their Kids. Dont leave it up to the TV to raise them. As a father, I would sit in bed next to my kids each night and read to them for a 1/2 hour before they went to sleep. They are both in their 30's now and well adjusted members of society who never gave me or Mom any trouble.

frank tx   May 7th, 2009 1:28 pm ET

carlo   May 7th, 2009 1:26 pm ET

This is a ticker about Sesame Street and children's health, yet some of you are so filled with hatred you had to come HERE to bash them. You need more than a National Prayer Day. Perhaps the Obamas do like we should all do-pray for ourselves and stop using Jesus like he's some kind of patriotic religious mascot for us when its convenient.

Imarriedmysister in Alabama   May 7th, 2009 1:24 pm ET

The First Lady is doing a great service for children of all ages.Poor Dougie in Wenonah never got to watch Seseme Street.Maybe he lived on high street.

walleye   May 7th, 2009 1:24 pm ET

I am sure Laura Bush was a wonderful role model also. She just didnt have a personality to express it with.

A. Goodwin   May 7th, 2009 1:22 pm ET

Rethuglicans: Why get down on the Obama's for not PUBLICALLY praying? Perhaps they decided to pray on their own, in priviate, with their own family. You don't have to be in a crowded room in front of the public eye to pray.

Christians...stop the banter. The Obama's have more class, more humility, and more to give the the American public than with our warmonger president Bush! Not every topic has to be a reflection of one's faith.

Abby   May 7th, 2009 1:22 pm ET

Childhood obesity is a huge problem in this country, particularity inner cities where parents pick up fast food on the way home from a long day at work to feed kids who sit infront of TVs. I’m glad the First Lady is bringing this to the forefront so that we as a community can think of solutions together- whether its community farmers markets, healthier fast-food restaurants or after school play time for exercise, something’s got to be done.

The Voice of Reason   May 7th, 2009 1:21 pm ET

Raise your hand if you are an American!!

All right, now all of you who are citizens of this great country–let's vow right now to END the bitterness which is doing nothing but pulling us all down!

We want to teach our kids to eat right, and respect our fellow man–don't we?

Then, can we just start to act MORE GROWN UP and STOP THE CONSTANT criticizing. I'm talking about both sides (I hate to use that word) now! Can't we just stop and think first! The best thing I can think of to say is the GOLDEN RULE: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!"

This sums it all up! We ALL want the best for American–can't we discuss this in a civilized manner. We don't all agree–but we can at least listen to each others views, calmly let our political leadership KNOW our views, then ACT LIKE ADULTS should act. Whether we are one political party or the other, or an independent party, surely we can do better than an uneducated country!! We can give our views without all this hate!!

God IS watching!

Randy   May 7th, 2009 1:20 pm ET

As I read other these tired, vitriolic posts, it occurs to me that our country will NEVER progress as long as there are those of you that stay mired in the soup that is "my side or die" partisan politics. Seriously, people, it's an article about the First Lady appearing on Seasame Street. How is that anything but a positive? And when it was Barbara Bush or Laura Bush, it wasn't any less positive. Stop spewing out your mindless hatred at every article. There's no real reason for it, and you all sound like a bunch of whiny kids on a playground. This is product of idiots like Limbaugh, Hannity, and Franken. I hope you are all happy...bunch of hateful losers.

Is it really news, not really, I tend to avoid such articles, but wanted to check in to confirm nastiness what's left of the Republican base. Seriously do you expect to get back the moderates acting like this; or has something in your collective warped minds just snapped? Nothing more than school yard bullying, I'd tell you to grow up, but I don't think it would help

Frank and Earnest   May 7th, 2009 1:15 pm ET

I think that the difference between Laura Bush and Michelle Obama is this. Laura Bush did not have much of a public personality, or charisma.
Michelle Obama does.

I applaud Laura Bush for her work with children's literacy, but at the same time, I don't remember seeing much about her doing anything other than PSA's and a few personal appearances. (Not saying she didn't, just saying I didn't see it)

Michelle Obama is doing it more in the public eye, which gets her efforts more noticed. Duh! Isn't that what is SUPPOSED to happen with the First Lady's public service efforts? Besides, not only is she talking the talk....she's walking the walk.

Did Laura?

Richie   May 7th, 2009 1:15 pm ET

WHY must the GOPers continue their vile campaign of hate..... lies...... fear and division?

Just because President Obama did not have a White House .....ceremony....... does not mean he did not observe the National Day of Prayer!

Guess what other presidents did not have a White House ceremony for the NDP?

Carter....... REAGAN......... BUSH the First ....... and Clinton!

IS it too much to ask that the GOPers tell the ..... truth? Yep it is.

At least she's trying to do something productive and make a difference to kids. The article also says the Barbara and Laura Bush made the same appearance on Sesame Street so it seems like a First Lady tradition now. What's the problem? As for the $540 shoes- let it go, seriously. Their purchase helped the economy, she can afford them, and is entitled to purchase whatever she wants with her money. People who have expensive shoes are not Bad People. Get over it for good please!

It's amazing how many of you don't realize that your love affair with Michelle stems from CNN's love affair with Michelle. Unfortunately, all those poor unsuspecting children that are watching Sesame Street today are going to be the ones to pay for Michelle's husband's spending addiction.

If you can find something worthy of criticizing the First Lady's appearance on Sesame Street, go ahead if it makes you feel better.

Promoting healthy eating habits and exercise is surely on the same level as killing innocent women and children and torturing civilians.

Shari, NY   May 7th, 2009 1:01 pm ET

If only some parents would spend time teaching their children good habits – be it eating healthy or exercising proper hygiene, there would be less obesity and related illnesses – not to mention the diminished incidence of contageous diseases. Such advocacy could not have come at a more opportune time.

Doug, New Jersey   May 7th, 2009 12:55 pm ET

I would never wish for Michelle Obama to be treated the way that Laura Bush was for 8 years, but I don't have to worry, those on the right could not spew as much evil, hateful, mean-spirited attacks on her as the libs did to Laura even if they tried.

Conservatives make comments based on what Michelle has said, libs just unleash baseless hateful personal attack and wish harm on their opposition, even their wives and their little children, but then again that is to be expected of the moral-less, hate-filled, dishonest left of this country.

GOP = 21st century dodo   May 7th, 2009 12:54 pm ET

It''s a good thing when ANY First Lady visits Sesame Street, whether that's Barbara Bush, Laura Bush, or Michelle Obama. Martha Washington would have been a hit had there been TV and Sesame Street in her day! This event is about as NON-political as they come, and yet it is the opportunity for some to criticize. Why? What, precisely, about this clip could any rational person find offensive?

She is the first lady, and like many other first ladies her focus right now is on children. I may not agree with everything her husband does, but my blood pressure doesn't skyrocket when I see that she has made an appearance (that other first ladies have made) on a children's program to promote healthy eating and exercise habits.

This made me smile :)

Well, we know she likes puppets.

I only wish I could have seen it. This is a wonderful thing. Spin your hatred if you must but I appreciate her work with kids.

Next week on Sesame Street: Rush Limbaugh hangs with Oscar the Grouch. This post was brought to you by the letter H. As in have a nice day!

Great human interest story. Excellent images for our children and grand children to see. All of the First Ladies are to be commended for their work with Americas youth...

Can't wait to see how all those "christians" out there are going to fault her for this.
What a miserable bunch of whiners the Republican party has become.
You keep on doing what you're doing Mrs. Obama. We the People are with you and the President.

Sniffit   May 7th, 2009 12:12 pm ET

Cute.

It's really too bad the GOPers have never seen a party they don't want to poop.

Senor Arche   May 7th, 2009 12:11 pm ET

I love our First Lady.
She's such an inspiration. :) Someone I definitely look up to.

Mississippi Mike   May 7th, 2009 12:10 pm ET

Aha! So that's where Obama gets advice on who to appoint to his cabinet, Muppets!

Well, I guess hanging out with talking puppets can't be much different than watching Obama march to the orders of his radical overlords.

shucks   May 7th, 2009 12:09 pm ET

The rebukes don't even need to comment on this. Michelle Obama has been an exemplary First Lady. I never saw young people and children so exuberant and even brought to tears by the presence of any First Lady, including Jackie O. She is loved the world over, and an inspiration for millions. She will be the new mold from which all future First Ladies will be judged. We are extremely proud of her and hope to see far more of her over the next eight years. I find it truly regretable that in her own country she is chastised for every move she makes by the republicans who gave us Laura (stretched too tight) Bush, and Nancy (get my astologist) Reagan, and Barbara (did nothing but look matronly) Bush. What a group of do nothing First Ladies.

Dutch/Bad Newz, VA   May 7th, 2009 12:06 pm ET

Michelle is awesome. I wonder if her and Oprah were in cahoots with the KFC free meal. Michelle is sending a eat healthy message and that KFC "grilled/roasted" chicken might have been part of the plan. Just a theory.

TRUTH   May 7th, 2009 12:05 pm ET

M Obama can do a lot for children, this is great, please stick to it

RNC = DNC = politics as usual   May 7th, 2009 12:01 pm ET

"Barbara and Laura Bush also dropped by Sesame Street set during their husbands' terms in office"

I would bet money that a number of Obama fans will be claiming this is yet another "first" for the Glorious One's administration.

Better get the Ministry of Truth to alter history accordingly......
