WASHINGTON (CNN) – Then-Sen. Barack Obama's name may have been everywhere during the presidential campaign, but it did not make the top 1000 most popular picks for babies. Still, it gained popularity.
During 2008, the new president's first name ranked 2,409th on the Social Security Administration's annual list of the most popular baby names. That's a jump of more than 10,000 spots from the name's previous ranking in the 12,535th spot during 2007.
"President Obama's popularity peaks among Americans under the age of 30, who are, in turn, most likely to be having babies," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland.

I bet if the ball was still in the GOP's court and everybody was naming their kids "Dubya" the rednecks wouldn't be having this problem with there being an enormously popular president.

Yup! those below 30 years old, 60% of them don't pay income tax, but sucking the system. They all want FREEBIES!

Do you have ANY type of grounds for such a ridiculous comment? I think not. Generation Y, as we are called, are generally (not all, of course) highly-educated and socially liberal. We are hard-working and we adore President Obama. We don't want your charity and are insulted by this assumption.
Also, Barack IS a biblical name, something you thumpers out there should know.
I will take it anyday over Track, Trig,Tripp, Tundra, Twinkle and whatever else Alskans name their progeny nowadays.......
Each Republican supporter/anti-Obamabot out there thinks they can come on this blog site and be the "soul voice" of dissent against President Obama by saying people who like him and support him are sheep, or following "the Messiah", yadda yadda yadda... but in the end, even the anti-Obamabots are the biggest laughing stocks.
Form of a Hebrew name.. it Means Blessed
denis i was wondering if you had a job because to me it seems that all you do is sit around and have racial thoughts going through your little mind. How many guns an potted meat have stocked up on.

….and what if he turns out to be the worst president ever? Wouldn't that suck for those babies?

Don't worry, KC, he won't be.
lolol...what a bunch of sorry lemmings.
The genuineness of the president in this picture is heartwarming.
On another note, I would not name my baby Barack.
For all you goim out there, Barrack (Barak) is Hebrew word for lightning and Baruch is (which sounds closer to the way the president's name is pronounced) means to kneel before God in praise. Baraka in the Swahili language means blessing. Either way, there is nothing wrong with anyone naming their child Barrack.
Why are they bothering with this dribble. Where is the ticker on Nancy Pelosi being fully briefed from the start on waterboarding?
Come On CNN do some real reporting

Poor kids. Growing up named after the worst President in the History of the United States is gonna be rough.

Jackson, your comment is laughable. Perhaps you have a crystal ball...but my crystal ball happens to say that he's already one of the most memorable presidents in history thanks to the people that voted him into the office. Keep whining, it helps Democrats immensely.
Ted, speak for yourself...Obama is not loved by ALL of Canada, starting with me!
I'm gonna name him....Bill, or George, ANYTHING but Sue....

And "Osama" became a very popular name in the Middle East after 9/11. You're in great company, Mr. President.
-
Hmmm, I wonder if ADOLPH is becoming popular too?
Y'all do realize that you're at 21% as of last week, right?
Have you stopped to consider that it's because you come off like nasty, rude ingrates who want to have their 'constitutional right to win every election' restored?
If you keep talking about other Americans this way, then the number of "TRUE RED-BLOODED AMERICANS" will consist of two guys named Cletus hopping around in a circle somewhere along the Appalachian Corridor Highway
I'll be naming my next kid Hussein if that's so 'cool' – and when I say cool, I mean cool like wearing your pants around your knees cool.

What kind of person who have such low self-esteem to carry your child? Thank goodness for natural selection.
If anyone thinks they can actually do a better job given the state of things, then go ahead and run for President and try to make a difference to the world like he has, instead of just talking trash. Put your money where your mouth is and do it. Then your name will become popular too.
For all you people that are suck on dumb, what makes being a conservative or liberal a bad name? I guess it depends on who you ask, Right? Do you think Jesus was a conservative? Hummm.. Probably not since he spoke out against the church at that time. For all you so called conservative Christians out there. Jesus preached his message of unity, peace, and love of all. That includes, prostitutes, tax collectors, criminals, etc.... How can you put the word conservative and Christian in the same sentence. Makes no sense. Today's conservatives are going around expecting everyone to believe as they do in public, that is. What they claim to believe in public is different than what they do behind closed doors. Just listen to people like Rush, O'Reilly, Ann, Hannity, and others. Do people really believe they believe that poison that they spew. No, money talks and they are being paid to have slanted views. They will be held accountable for their actions just like everyone else. One last question, was Hitler a conservative or liberal? I am will to bet he was a true conservative for his time period. What happened to tolorance of others? Christian conservative is just hype and nothing more!

If Barrack actually convert from Islam to Christianity, doesn't it seem like he would have gone back to Barry?
@@@@@
My name is Deborah, it's a Jewish name. I'm not now, nor have I ever been, Jewish. Should I convert from Catholism to Judaism simply because of my name?
Jackson: You with the same last name as Michael Jackson isn't too cool either. Poor you.
