Anyone with a brain should be able to see that the Republicans are OVER! All they know is NO, Attack, and lie! Sad business and they think we should care? They talk about change, but they do not know the meaning of the word. They still have not realized that NO ONE truly cares what they have to say about anything! Because we know exactly what they will say about absolutely anything! Can anyone say IRRELEVANT?

Let us not get carried away, Mr. Carville, because that would be bad for the nation. It would facilitate all kinds of corruption, because human beings need to be reminded that others will take over from them and reveal the bad things which happened on the previous watch. It is for our and their protection because too many of our politicians will take the low road if they believe that no one will ever find out.

Carville is right that for now the Democrats have the young people.
But they haven't realized just yet how much the big spending, big governmnet, huge deficit Democrats are going to cost them.
Obama is spending like crazy with no plan on how to pay for it. His economic projections show economic growth, but even so his own projctions show massive deficits as even in years with growth he will be spending far more than what the goverment takes in in taxes. These deficits will have to be paid for and the young will get the bill. They won't like it, not a bit.

I used to admire carvelle & his wife. Between the two of them they gave a pretty accurate picture of politics. Also, they seemed to really love their two daughters, but guess they are as sleazy as the politicians they speak for. You would think carvelle would care a little bit about how our country is being destroyed since he has 2 young daughters but guess not – just another greedy biased piece of the ever corrupt news media!

Party is an insignificant concept. The Democratic and Republican Parties no longer stand for the issues they once stood for. Conservative Southerners all used to be Democrats. Republicans used to be progressive. The important concept is Liberalism. Liberalism – despite the many lies told about it by Conservatives – is for the greatest good for the greatest number, a broadly distributed prosperity, world peace, security, democracy, stability, and growth. The goal of Liberalism is a strong, mostly middle-class, free nation, in which the government and other social institutions have minimal control over personal behavior, which is the definition of individual freedom. Liberals not only oppose government control of personal behavior, we also oppose the control of global corporations over our lives and our futures.

Conservatism, on the other hand, wants an America that is ruled by a tiny, fabulously wealthy upper class. The rest of the nation would pretty much be living from hand to mouth, desperately dependent on the next paycheck and the approval of their employers. Conservatism also wants an unemployed class in grinding poverty, to strike fear in the hearts of employees, who think, "I'd better be a good boy at work, or me and my family will sink into the morass of poverty, from which no one ever escapes." Global corporations prefer desperate employees over any other kind of employee. Now, of course, no Conservative ever SAYS he is for these things, but everything they DO is guiding the nation to that future.

Conservatism must go into the mausoleum of political history, in an exhibit next to Communism, Fascism, Monarchy, and Totalitarianism. It is not good for children and other living things.

Not if they don't recognize that (1) Obama has the mandate not the Democratic Party , (2) when the election is over the party should be over also, it is time to go to work, and (3) the public is awake and watching. We have been scammed long enough. A member of either party who proves to be in bed with the corrupt bankers will get fired at election time. The majority isn't at the far right or the far left. If the Dems decide not represent the middle, a party will emerge who will.

OK James, but do we really have to listen to the wailing and gnashing of GOP teeth for that entire time?
I mean the way these right wing-nuts whine and snivel at only 3 months of us having to clean up their messes you'd think they were being water boarded!

to haha~Um, the book is called 40 MORE YEARS, so YOU just got the 50 from I dont know??? SO add it again, its like this 2009+40=2049..The republican party has ZERO hope of getting back into control anytime soon. They have gone WAY far right and this country has NO use for that sort of person, and since at this time only 20% of the country is republican, I would say they are ONLY going to have the south to save them, only in the south are people stupid enough to keep voting in hate mongers and liars...THANK GOD they are in the south...

Nope. . .Democrats will be in power as long as the hot potato doesn't fall in their lap. In other words, the next time a recession cycle falls during a Democratic administration, the tide will turn again. They have a tremendous amount of culpability for the current economic trauma through the populist silliness of fake home ownership. If Kerry had been elected in 2004, there would be a Republican president and Congress right now.

Anyone remember from the campaign how we were going to make ourselves forgien oil free as soon as Obama got elected, McCains ten year plan was insane according to the Dems, we need it now? How is all that working out for us ? No drilling going on, no nuculer plants being built, no wind farms. On the contrary, we stopped all off shore drilling and all drilling in the western states, and now cap and trade is coming ? What short angry memories the Dems have.

Although I like President Obama, I wouldn't want Democrats in power for 50 years or 12 years for that matter. Power corrupts people and I haven't seen a saint politician just yet. Mr. Carville is just being his old self. If Democrats truly agree with him, GOP or Independents or Libertarians will return to power in no time.

Oh wake up Carville, with people like Pelosi the liar, Reid the village idiot, Dodd the crook and Specter the traitor not to mention all of those on the cabinet who are tax evaders, I would say the Dems will have to be careful when they are up for re election. This is just a pipe dream for you.

Remaining non-extremists of GOP should get out and make a new, reasonable party. Conservative democrats would join them. Myself being on the left, liberal and progressive edge of democrats, I still think that we need a viable non-crazy opposition.

First of all, someone get CNN's headline writer a calculator. If Democrats "rule" for the next 50 years, they'll be in power until 2059, not 2049.

Second, as a Democrat, it sounds good to me, but I think Carville is being typically overconfident. Even if the GOP completely implodes (which is possible) another party will rise to take its place.
