WASHINGTON (CNN) – Todd Palin, the husband of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, will fill in for the former Republican vice presidential candidate this weekend at a series of high profile events, a Palin spokesperson confirms to CNN.
Palin, also known as Alaska's "first dude," will take his wife's spot Saturday at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, the annual Washington event that draws a guest list of prominent journalists and Hollywood celebrities.
He will also appear at a Republican Governor's Association dinner Friday night, an event his wife was set to co-host as a thank you to donors who had contributed at least $25,000 to the organization.
The Alaska governor decided Thursday not to travel to Washington after declaring a state of emergency in Eagle, Alaska in the wake of record flooding.

The Palins belong on the Jerry Springer show and please God.
if we as Americans would ever be dumb enough to elect her to higher office it would be like confusing W with Lincoln, or even worse if that is possible. Maybe she & Rush should have a love child and call him Extreme. Life is stranger than fiction and Palin should go back to blasting poor wolves from her seat in the helicopter.
It would be so healthy for this country if the Republicans could move towards the middle instead of being taken over by a nuch of crazy fanatics.
I'm sure if President Obama had an engagement and sent Michelle instead the far right Limbaugh lovers would have a field day with it. But seeing that this is Gov. Palin I guess it's ok.

come on. Liberals love to say Palin is a media pig.. but if your honest with yourselves, she only left the state 3 or 4 times since the election and didn't talk to press in any of those cases. Furthermore, the Palin's were INVITED to this event by Fox News... They didn't invite the Lt. Gov. Todd would have been there with her had she been there. This is just one of those attempts to make her look bad. I'm not saying she doesn't have some PR issues, but please.. I have honestly never seen a "news" organization focus on a single individual like this before.... Palin sneezes... Palin goes to the potty... Palin shoveled snow.... It's about 1 thing. Read that through, maybe a couple times for you slow folks. He's extremely popular in Alaska and he'll fit right in with the celebs and journalists. Yes, read it again, HOLLYWOOD CELEBS and JOURNALISTS... Where does it say that the Gov or Lt Gov should be representing? Use a little common sense, if you are able.
