WASHINGTON (CNN) – Todd Palin, the husband of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, will fill in for the former Republican vice presidential candidate this weekend at a series of high profile events, a Palin spokesperson confirms to CNN.
Palin, also known as Alaska's "first dude," will take his wife's spot Saturday at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, the annual Washington event that draws a guest list of prominent journalists and Hollywood celebrities.
He will also appear at a Republican Governor's Association dinner Friday night, an event his wife was set to co-host as a thank you to donors who had contributed at least $25,000 to the organization.
The Alaska governor decided Thursday not to travel to Washington after declaring a state of emergency in Eagle, Alaska in the wake of record flooding.
Hey DC, Dumb can't make it, so here comes dumber!
What are his qualifcations? Can sit on a "snow machine"for hours on end? Can fish and hunt? Can feed the baby during his wife's meetings?
Alaskan Girl has it right. Would any other governor send a spouse to fill in? That's the crux of the story.
will all the palin clan just go away first it her then daughter now husband whats next rocky the squirrel and bullwinkle j plain moose enough allready you lost or is this the prelude to sarah and rush show for the whitehouse

that's a rather dangerous combination of personality traits."
So is ignorance and/or ignoring the other side. Before you start lecturing, perhaps you need to go read all the haters out there from the republicans. Take a gander over at the 'name Barak' thread and then come tell me about people 'hating' and having a 'dangerous' combination of traits.
The First Dud...I mean Dude AND Joe The Plumber together?? WOW dinner AND entertainment !!! Bring out the dancing elephants as well!
UNREAL!! They send this anti American fool to the white house??? He doesnt even want Alaska to be part of America. Why would this loser ever be allowed in the White House. I am speachless!!
So the dem turned repub who posts here, says that people who post here do not have jobs or pay taxes.
I'm a Liberal, but I'm gonna cut her some slack on this. If (and this is a big if) she's really making executive decisions to help control the flooding in Alaska, she's got my thumbs up for missing the dinners. Hopefully journalists there will keep an eye on her.

low class and dumb…. why would they want him there?
So he can fit right in with the other Republicans
Oh dear..don't tell me he is going to start running too
I guess he's owed this much – She told him they were getting to the White House one way or another...
Cant wait for the social event afterward... "Hold my beer, and WATCH THIS!!"
First I need to know who is paying the bill for him to fly to DC for a dinner event! It better not be one penny of my money...I am sure the kids are going. They could continue their cruisade for abstinence! I just hope he knows enough to not ask for a doggy bag!
I wonder can he russia from his house or see putin when he sticks
his head up in the sky and can he read a newspaper any of them?
When are the palin going to realize they are not as popular as they think.STAY HOME MORON.
If the democrats "are becoming more of a joke than ever", what does that make the republicans?! Let's look at a few polls and see how the two compare- whoops, there is NO comparison! I have yet to see ANY poll where republicans fared better than the democrats In ANYTHING! You need to get a grip on reality and stop talking down to the democrats. They're way ahead of you, buddy! I have been a life-long republican (although I am loathe to admit it) and will soon be changing my registration to democrat. I am tired of of venomous and hateful rhetoric that continues to spew from the republican party.
If Sarah Palin can state "the war in Iraq was a misson from God", then this White house dinner must be "A mission for Todd"
You can't blame the dems for using this against Palin. After all, CNN did a really poor job of explaining why Palin wasn't attending the events in DC. Record flooding in Alaska destroyed all the buildings in one village, the railroad is shut down, homes are destroyed, and flood watches are still in effect. Palin is scheduled to tour the damage and do those things governors do when states of emergency have been declared – she's choosing to do those things instead of going to DC. You might not like Palin, but you can't fault her for this. By the way, spouses are often sent to these events in place of the public official - democrats do it too.
Joe the Plumber, First DUD, and OOPS! I got pregnant! Thr RNC should be proud
Once again, riding his wife's skirt...spare us this nonsense, CNN, please!
If the MSM would seriously investigate, they would find there is more to this. SP is doing preDamage control (Bristol too) before the truth comes out about Bristols first baby. Hint-this is the2nd and it's a sad, sordid story.
HE is not the elected state official and has no right to attend...though he did do the dirty work of one since his wife has been Governor (read: Troopergate)
As of the census of 2000, there were 129 people, 58 households, and 37 families residing in Eagle AK. Population in July 2007: 146.
O.k. Sarah, this is how you handle this. You go to the dinner. You have The Dude Todd zip in on his snow machine and save them all one by one. It's 37 families! Get out! Simple.
i'm not in favor of the alaska governor and her decisions, but are all of you people who comment on this cnn blog site suffering from a perfect storm of very simple minded idiocy? all of you guys are just like a bunch of clueless lemmings, get a freakin life
Well, "Joe the Plumber" isn't a Republican anymore. They need a new character to attract the male redneck crowd. At least this one's good looking.
So the REAL governor of Alaska will be attending, not the one in name only
Tina Fey could have gone as her stand in.. Wait that would be to risky, Tina might say something intellegent and blow the whole charade.
